I personally don't know anyone who cares what any of these people look like or are portrayed as looking like. I spent infinitely more time looking at Pat Summerall clutching a microphone than I ever will at his daughter.

And the most photogenic shot I've seen in my lifetime is an overweight old guy with blood gushing from his ear on a sunny July day in Butler, Pa.

That's who these people are, the ones who did that. And why we fight, fight, fight.

R H's avatar

Let me get this straight; the left is lying and distorting factual information. OK, thanks for the heads up. I would have never ascertained this without your astute observation and and ascertainment of their methodology. LOL...

Ohhhh, how clever of name change to sneak back in. What a boring loser you are. Go away

Uh, are you naturally a dope and unfunny, or are you a self-made person who's worked at it long and hard?

Let's see a magnified closeup of your face, RH.

You’re a trolling loser desperate to matter in your insignificant, sorry-ass life where nobody respects you or anything you think. We see you through your comment. 🤣🤣

I totally understand why everyone on the right is bothered by this piece of “ journalism “ because it is a gross misrepresentation of this administration.

That being said, I keep thinking that if anyone is reading Vanity Fair to help form their political views they aren’t smart enough to matter.

DId you listen to trump's speech which was full of lies?

https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/columnist/2025/12/17/trump-presidential-speech-angry-rant/87818778007/ Trump's crazed address was as unnerving as Biden's debate |

Cat C.'s avatar

Inflation numbers came out today and they are lower than they have been for a long while.

NWCitizen's avatar

Headline CPI-U inflation was 2.74 percent. Food price inflation was 2.65 percent. Energy price inflation was 4.24 percent. Has "inflation stopped"?

Cat C.'s avatar

We're always going to have some inflation, in normal circumstances. And 2.74 and 2.65 is pretty normal, so the abnormal high inflation HAS stopped.

Bonnie Beresford's avatar

He isn't lying about the improvements in the economy nor about the fact that the economy will keep improving.

We had just two choices for POTUS in 2024. Both candidates are flawed. Biden's 4 years were all I needed, in company with more than 70 million other people, to realize this country could not survive another Democrat President.

R H's avatar

Good to see you again HL3...please enlighten us more.

NWCitizen's avatar

Believe it or not, there is more than one democrat in the US.

La la la la la la lies? Have a nice day 😎

Tom Potts's avatar

I am not bothered by this. My only question is who looks at the filth that VF produces.

Orenv's avatar

Most of us are manipulated. In that sense, this is just one more narrative building manipulation.

Karine checked off 3 of the Left’s boxes: she’s a “minority”, a lesbian and woefully retarded.

Cranky Frankie's avatar

I always thought she looked like the minority version of a Raggedy Ann doll. That's not a dig. It's an interesting look. Looks shouldn't matter though unless it's the TV weather girl.

Davey J's avatar

Nice to see the word retarded making a comeback . But please, dont ever go full retard.

Tom Potts's avatar

No worries Sasha.

G*d sees us how we are, warts and all. And also in our random moments of pure love and kindness as well that we share with other folks that no one sees at all.

Merry Christmas Sasha.

NNTX's avatar

If I weren’t well aware of how evil and desperate these folks are, I would pity them. IN fact, living for such superficial attributes creates its own hell. Their boasting and glee at tearing down others stems from the worst sin of all—Pride. God help them. Perhaps in His grace someone that loves others, truly, will reach some of these sad sad cases.

I doubt that any of the Trump administration is fretting. They have happy families and have achieved real progress—despite the tantrums of the Left and their media/judicial/political handmaidens—for the American people.

Jerry Todd's avatar

There's a danger among the 7 deadly sins that has serious consequences. Three of the Seven Deadly Sins come into play with what we are experiencing today.

1. Pride is known as hubris or futility; it is considered the original and worst of the seven deadly sins—the most demonic—on almost every list. Pride is also thought to be the source of the other capital sins. Pride is viewed as the opposite of humility.

Pride is the state, the position in which the ego and the self are directly opposed to God: Unchastity, anger, greed, drunkenness and all that, are mere fleabites in comparison: it was through Pride that Lucifer became wicked: (Gay) Pride leads to every other vice: it is the complete anti-God state of mind. It severs the human spirit from God, as well as from the life and grace given by God's presence.

2. Lust or lechery is intense longing. It is usually viewed as intense or unbridled sexual desire, which may lead to fornication (including adultery, rape, or bestiality), and other sinful and sexual acts; however, lust can also denote other forms of unbridled desire, such as for money or power.

3. Wrath can be defined as uncontrolled feelings of anger, rage, and even hatred. Wrath often reveals itself in the wish to seek vengeance. The neutral act of anger becomes the sin of wrath when it is directed against an innocent person; when it is unduly strong or long-lasting; or when it desires excessive punishment. If anger reaches the point of a deliberate desire to kill or seriously wound a neighbor, it is gravely against charity. Hatred is the sin of desiring that someone else may suffer misfortune or evil, and it is a mortal sin when one desires grave harm. The wrath of God is a separate issue as it is earned wrath from the sins of man.

NNTX's avatar

Quite. Always worth it to view current events from the standpoint of either Scripture or Dante.

NWCitizen's avatar

Well, Trump checks all those boxes.

Pride: changing the name to Trump - Kennedy Center

Lust: Epstein, Stormy Daniels, sexual assaults...

Wrath: displayed in his recent speech ( along with numerous lies,

Jerry Todd's avatar

Better you look at the mental process of the string of murderers who are transgender.

Where were you as the Kennedy Center facilities and programming were going to shit? Trump is restoring it to something JFK would appreciate. Don't demonstrate your ignorance about his last two speeches or the timing of execution. You're becoming an embarrassment.

NNTX's avatar

Oh for goodness sakes. The Kennedy Center was moribund prior to reprogramming. Perhaps the new shows aren’t to your taste, not elite enough?

Even the NYT admits that there is no there there re. Trump and Epstein.

I didn’t see wrath in his speech—though it was rushed. Not sure what “lies” you are discussing, but honestly I doubt we’ll agree on anything about the “Orange Man Bad”.

Pam Humphrey's avatar

wow....what is it like to be so consumed with another person? i feel sorry for you

Cat C.'s avatar

Trump dumped Epstein before Epstein started his sexual assault ring, he was on Epstein's plane a couple of times WITH HIS FAMILY AT THE TIME, he was NEVER seen on Epstein's island, SO YOU ARE A LIAR AND SLANDERER for putting "Epstein" in your remarks.

Not exactly sure where you are going here…always tough with these long threads.

But I do think we need to beware of MANIPULATION—which has been prevalent in the media even before social media, and now with AI may be turbocharged. This is one reason why I prefer reading and listening over viewing for podcasts.

At first I thought the White House was incredibly naive to participate in the Vanity Fair profile. Didn't they know this would happen? But maybe they they also knew that these pictures would bring out the worst in the Left and it would backfire on them.

ChrisC's avatar

Suzy Wiles and JD Vance are very smart, so they had to know. It's like "Trump is a felon" backfired so bad it helped get him elected. The article makes them look like upstart underdogs being mocked by the left which helps them politically.

Bonnie Beresford's avatar

Not only that, the serial impeachments and relentless attacks on Trump and his wealth by shyster judges made people realize: if they can do this to Trump, they can do it to me. When the Democrats weaponize the DOJ and the FBI, they show their true colors.

And what are the Dems doing now? Doubling down on trying to make him look bad. They are so narcissistic, they don't realize the damage they are doing to their own party. Who's the most popular Democrat senator now? John Fetterman, who the Dems are stupidly planning to primary, to drive him out.

Davey J's avatar

Not sure if they thought this far ahead, but this is a bonus for the Trump team. The Vanity Fair crowd is giong to think what they think, but for everyone else it makes them look utterly atrocious, petty, and wildly unprofessional. Give a point to the Trump Administration for this one (if they were actually laying a trap).

gsharper's avatar

Yeah, I'm not at all sure that this was planned but I think it will end up being a net positive.

I subscribed to Vanity Fair for years. At some point I vaguely realized it had changed and stopped subscribing. But since I like reading magazines, I checked back a few times hoping to like it again. Each time it had gotten worse!

Kathleen's avatar

Didn’t know Vanity Fair was still in print

Thank you Sasha. I haven’t bothered to follow any of this online, so now I know. What rubbish. I used to enjoy VF but I haven’t read it in years. Same with Vogue, which used to be great. I still have my original copy of Vogue with Melania Trump on the cover in her wedding dress. I knew I should keep it all those years ago, and I’m glad that I did. It has a very nice editorial inside too.

Jorge Finkielman's avatar

Thank you Sasha. These media outlets believe that they are more relevant than what they actually are: a display of their own mediocrity.

I think one of our dear Sasha's podcasts is worth more than a 10 year subscription to Vanity Fair. Her ability to put together video and text and Tik-Tok and blend it all into a seamless and compelling narrative is outstanding and very entertaining. She's a genius. And we love her.

Sasha, great piece. You totally nailed it. Your missives are like love letters to America. Always a joy to hear what you have to say.

I guess Georgia will be returned to the redneck rube state column now that it's been revealed in court that 315,000 Fulton County absentee ballots were run through the counting machines twice in 2020. Even that level of cheating only got an 11k win for Biden.

Vanity Fair will last as long as the employees there are sufficiently lickspittle to whomever is covering the red ink. There is always the danger that their Mackenzie Scott, whoever it is, may become bored.

Meanwhile us rubes just keep ticking along. Alabama doesn't need Neil Young, to borrow the lyric. Neither does a majority of America. Nor does it need VF or NYT.

Alan's avatar

I actually think I would lean-in to some of these photos. I really like one of Rubio

These look like real people.

They look like people you see in your city or town.

They look like they're under pressure.

They look like they're imperfect.

They look human.

I don't think this as big a win for the left as you might think.

People are tired of voting for politicians who look polished and fake. I mean Trump, even if you love him, he's got a wacky look. People don't care, actually they like it, because it's the real him
