That position is some combination of patriotic, traditional, and common sense. It’s always on the side of the law, and always the majority view. Citizens over illegals, the law-abiding over criminals, there are only two sexes, honoring heroes and victims of crime, etc. Each time, Democrats are compelled to take the opposite side, because Trump is Hitler and you can never agree with Hitler. 60-80% of the voters look at this and see Democrats as out-of-touch, if not crazy.
