My wife and I wrote tunes. She played fiddle, and I played guitar or keyboard. She taught dance too. She passed away almost four years ago and I was destroyed. I recently found a singer, so now there is hope "At Last".
Sasha, I am so grateful for the way you remind me that I let the left take the joy out of my life so often in the past decade. The music and films I used to love and find hope, love and passion for the future in and that lifted me through many trying times. I let them steal that in the way they have buried so much of American life. Your tribute reminds me of all of that. The great people we saw yesterday, in the Fauci reminder of the worst of times: The Hawleys, Morenos, Pauls, they are there working hard to restore and perhaps even surpass all that we lost, what was ripped from our very positive souls. The left would do it all again if they get the chance and these men have given up their good lives and their other options to fight people who just produce hate in large continuous volume and nothing more. The things that could have been accomplished if the left had anyone like the Rubios, Vances, and all the incredible cabinet members this administration has produced is time wasted and time lost; they are all still screaming into the incredible void they have made.
Thank you for putting that aside to honor someone I had never heard of but who I will be following now and watching that movie. You so often point us to something wonderful in the midst of the sorrow we all re-experienced yesterday, remembering the loved ones and lives we lost because of a true narcissist. It was never Trump. His love of people, life, music and our special country is always there for those who have eyes to see. You are such a bright light in the midst of our sorrowful moments to keep nourishing our hungry souls. Thank you, Sasha, and RIP Glen. You have inspired so many more, even now.

I had to watch Once as part of my film minor in college in 2016 at the University that every coastal elite thinks is a joke: ASU. I never would have discovered it had it not been for Prof. Philip Taylor, a writer who worked for Paramount and wrote for many TV shows from The Brady Bunch to Highlander to Zorro to Silk Stalkings to Knight Rider to Mork and Mindy. It's an incredible movie. RIP Glen.
A Beautiful Tribute Sasha. I First Learned Of Glen's Death When I Read Your Post On X This Morning. I Was Stunned. And Then I Began Thinking About The First Time I Saw Him.
ONCE, Was A Movie I Pretty Much Knew Nothing About. It Was Playing At The Cinerama Dome So One Afternoon My Wife And I Decided To Check It Out. His Performance During The Opening Credits Knocked Me The F*CK Out. I Was Hooked. My Wife And I LOVED The Movie. So Much That The Following Weekend We Took Our Three Kids To See It. They Enjoyed It, Too.
Buying The Soundtrack; It Was A Joyful Sound Throughout Our House On Many Days.
Needless To Say It Was Played A Lot Today.

Don’t let the Left take away music from you. I feel the same way, but there is a lot of music created by artists that are not political. Let me recommend two. The first is Chris Stapleton. He is labeled as country, but he is more blues and not twangy. He started off as a song writer, but thankfully transitioned to artist or the world would never have been blessed by his voice.Listen to “Joy of my life” , it can apply to your daughter, dog or in my case my grandchildren. It is a love song. Also, “ What Am I gonna do”. Again you can think of your dog, I think of my husband. The second is a group, also singers who started off as song writers. Old Dominion is the band. Their music is fun and joyful. My favorite is a sad one, “ My Heart is a Bar.”
I thank God for bringing you into my life. I love your perspective. You are authentic and I respect that.
I am trying to subscribe, so I will now go tackle that.
I grew up listening to musicians Van Morrison, Cat Stevens, two of my favorites. He was very much like them he will be remembered as great humanitarian. RIP Glen you can now join your mentors in another time out of 3D into the 12th dimension🙌🙏😇 Jam on🎸👏✌️
I was lucky enough to see Glen open for Damien Rice at the Beacon in NYC. Might still be the best concert I have ever seen in my life and I've seen many. Then I kept going to see Glen solo when he came through town. Always walked out of his shows feeling better about life.
He was so unique. The passion that he could reach way down inside him and then slowly bring out in a song until it was boiling over. I was a fan going back to his band The Frames. I was gut punched when I heard the news yesterday. The only small solace is I was sunned by how many fans he had. RIP Glen.
I love Rick Beato! He really dives into what makes a song great, as well as who are the true musicians! I love when he breaks down the instrumentation in a song and his long form interviews with musicians, like Sting and Brian May!
What a beautiful story about someone about whom I had known nothing. I now feel like an adventure is opening before me as I begin to explore him and his music. Thank you.
Oh that we could find this kind of common ground again as a community. Shared music was always one of the best avenues to that community and can be again if we allow it to heal us.
We have a family member who plays mostly "oldies" and quizzes his children -now young teens- to name the tune and the artist! We did the same with our children. A shared love of music opens lines of communication through the generations, and with these topics, we can share periods in world history, family history or explore events in the life of the artist. My children enlightened me to many wonderful artists of the 90's and 2000's that uplifted and gave me hope for the future of music.

Agreed! More than falling slowly, when your mind’s made up has often come to my mind ever since seeing Once.
