The bill passed regardless of the DemoRats and the Traitorpublicans. The Senate still welshed on the Suppressor act and the Short Act, reducing the tax to $0, but retaining the registration. There's a lot left to do, but this is a start.

It's a shame no DC elected officials (no, not one) knows and believes the Constitution, knows or enforces fiscal responsibility, and still provide programs outside the enumerated powers. DC is a cluster designed only to perpetuate the power of elected officials.

Yes, politicians have punted the football for decades on major issues, and neither party has dealt with them. Trump is the first to actually put forth a solution and try to settle some of these problems. But the ship of government is huge... he is just getting started.

And now, when they have a chance to cut illegal aliens off from Medicare and Medicaid, Democrats vote against it... Proving that they are just virtue signaling when they say that they are concerned about seniors, and poor people...

When the only people they're concerned with are illegal aliens, not US citizens. This fact is totally proven, by the way, they have spent tons of money to house illegals, yet they're Americans on the street, homeless. Disgusting.

Yep. As I understand the Medicaid issue, it is cutting waste, fraud, and abuse. If you are an able bodied citizen, you need to get a job or do some type of volunteer work to qualify. If you here illegally, no more free health care sorry.

Yeah, but all the Democrats voted NO to cut off illegal aliens from Medicare and Medicaid... And they were joined by many RINOS voting no, as well.

So, we're all going to be paying for illegals, Medicare and Medicaid... Nice!

The courts are not a viable route for challenging an outcome that benefits free-riders. The requirement for getting into court says that you must be “injured personally” by the law. The only people “injured” here are people who don’t like having their tax dollars spent unwisely. That type of injury is insufficient in the courts. If the free-riders had lost this one, they would have standing to sue, because they could point to a real loss. The. Federal courts don’t recognize broad “you’re wasting my tax dollars” types of injuries.

The states receive Medicaid money for their programs. In California, it's called Medi-Cal, and the state proudly proclaims Medi-Cal coverage for everyone, regardless of citizenship status. Now California will have a good portion of the funding cut off and will have to decide whether or not it wishes to continue this practice (as the state is in a free-fall debt). This bill forces states to consider who and what is most important to fund. The states that insist they will cover illegal aliens will have to find their own funds--tax their own citizens into oblivion, not every taxpayer in the country.

This bill has some laudable features, enhanced border security being a big one. But Trump joins almost all members of Congress - both parties - in kicking the fiscal can down the road. The national debt will only get bigger, and voters are being promised a free lunch rather than having to pay for what they want government to do. One out of five stars for Trump, zero stars for Democrats.

The other problem is that the media narrative for government spending, will call a frozen budget, a cut.

How that works is, if the budget was supposed to go up for a particular department by 10%, and it only gets increased by 5%, the dishonest media reports it as a 5% budget reduction! Complete and utter dishonesty.

It is like you and me getting a new job. We thought we were going to get the job that gave us a $20,000 raise, but the new job only gives us a $10,000 raise. Should we go around complaining that our wages got cut by $10,000?...

Totally bogus. The government does all kinds of things that, if a business did it, there would be prison time!

Biden added OVER $1.5 trillion dollars to the budget. As part of his Inflation Reduction Act.

This budget cuts Federal spending by $1.5 trillion.

The reduction in tax rates means that overall there will be more economic activity and income, so just like happened in Reagan's term, he tax cut for the middle class and small business especially, will grow the economy, and total taxes will grow, even though the tax rate is reduced.

Here is what’s WRONG. When a company whose planes’ doors and wheels fall off while in flight, which overruns government given projects by billions of dollars while missing deadlines by years with no end in sight is getting another Pentagon project worth more billions and Musk’s StarX, which does on a fly what the other company, despite being paid a fortune, fails to do, is left in the dust.

I have no ill will towards Elon. If I were personally in charge of the budget, the government would go back to pre-FDR. They are too big and were never meant to have their tendrils in every single part of our lives. They should concern themselves with their Constitutional role, which is to protect and defend our land and our civil liberties and that's it. My logic? We don't live in the world I want. Unfortunately, in order to do 2 things that are very important to me, the lawmakers have to make compromises. Those 2 things? 1. If we did it my way, how many votes do you think I'd get in the next election? Enough to keep it away from the people who believe they can just print a trillion dollar coin? Nope. I'd have to be willing to hand it over to a party who knows no bounds on spending which causes inflation and they don't even try to figure out a way to earn the money back. They bring in more people so the pie can be split even more and everyone can stay barely surviving without power to do anything about it. 2. I want 10,000 people a day deported. How am I going to get that if there aren't enough resources to make even half that possible? I'm not. So, in order to get what I want, which is keeping Democrats in their current form out of office and to deport as many people as possible, I have to compromise with enough people who have different goals. We don't have 60 votes in the Senate. So my logic is having to Unfortunately deal with reality.

The preservation of Medicaid fraud and waste is problematic, to be sure, but there are still too many congressional Republicans in both chambers either in on the grift, or too afraid of the lies that are told by the synchronised legacy corporate media about people being denied services. I don't see why that can't be achieved by amending eligibility requirements at the agency level.

In any event, it's the preservation and the protection of the tax cuts that most matter. As McConnell, Tillis, and hopefully Collins, Cassidy, and maybe even Paul exit and are replaced with MAGA, America First folks, that on which compromise had to be made can be revisited.

1. So long as the tipped minimum wage exists, allowing employers to pay tipped employees about half the regular minimum wage, ‘no taxes on tips’ is completely empty. Tipped employees will never make enough money to have to pay taxes in the first place.

2. Again, this is meaningless because Trump had loosened to useless the laws regulating who can get overtime. Employers can juggle schedules so that an employee has to work 90 hours for three weeks and no hours the fourth, thus never actually accruing ‘overtime’ for the month and getting NO extra pay.

This is typical Trumper. A slogan with no substance behind it. Much better policy would be to let the billionaire tax breaks expire, eliminate the ‘tipped’ exception to minimum wage laws, and really enforce overtime laws.

Tips: again, the REAL problem is that it’s legal to pay a much lower minimum wage to anyone who gets tips. Yes, they have to pay taxes on the tips, but very few of them will make a high enough yearly wage to owe federal taxes at all. This is mostly a benefit to employers who can still underpay waiters but also be freed from some paperwork. The alleged ‘beneficiaries’ won’t see one more dime but the owners sure will.

Overtime: federal law and rules define what, exactly, ‘overtime’ means. Employers CONSTANTLY cheat by defining everyone on staff as a ‘manager’ or by, again, scheduling employees so that they work exactly the right number of hours over a month, but done in a way that actually requires the employee to work two or three insanely excessive weeks so that they can’t get any real rest or manage life stuff. Further, Trump won’t enforce even the absurdly lax standards he will impose, so employers will get away with abusing their employees who have no recourse to any help.

Trump was always a boss, never a grunt, so his sympathies are ONLY with the Bosses. He has no desire to make life any better for anyone other than himself.

I guess for you, your Trump hatred is the only thing that brings you fulfillment in an otherwise joyless existence. Wallowing in the seething rage of profound ignorance must be so excruciating for you that you feel the need to share it so that everyone here can witness firsthand the lunatic ravings of someone in the throws of a mental collapse.

Can you say, "triggered?"

I've got a picture in my head. Now, of what she is like. Has to be one of these women screaming to the sky as loud as they can... Refusing to talk to anybody. Just screaming as loud as they can.

It's a great way to convince people that you're right and you know what you're talking about 😂😂

Really, what needs to be done...

Bring back asylums!

Screaming like an idiot! Wtf? These people have been spewing out these same old boring tropes for the last eight years! We've heard it all before! And they're still attempting to retread the same old shit pretending it isn't the same old shit.

He is reversing all that batshit craziness.

Boys won't be able to pull out their dong in the girls locker room when your daughter is dressing for her track meet.

Oh, you don't have any kids?

Haha, I'm not surprised.

Adriana Smith certainly got to experience Gilead: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adriana_Smith_pregnancy_case

Then again, she was Black so she doesn’t matter to you at all. She’s like every other woman in your world — ONLY worth being mindless incubators for the actual people: males. Women in TrumperWorld are nothing but sex toys and baby factories.

You just can't double down hard enough on your moronacy. First of all, her race is irrelevant. This woman was brain-dead. Why would she need an abortion? I'm sure the family will find comfort in her son being born and raised in a family that will love him as they loved their daughter. Your argument is so stunning in its perversion. Shocking!

Her family wanted her removed from life support. Also, her family probably didn’t want millions of dollars in medical debt that they’re now stuck with and which no antiabortion person will ever contribute one single dime to alleviate.

Unfortunately, Congress did a bait and switch on the “No Tax On Tips”. According to Grok, the employee and employer must still pay FICA taxes on all tips: in the restaurant industry, we must compute the percentage of charged tips a server receives, and thin apply that percentage to the server’s sales. In this manner, the IRS captures any cash tips the server may receive and makes the employer withhold the taxes from their paychecks.

In addition to FICA withholdings on all tips, the Server must pay income tax on any tips charged on credit cards; in other words, charged tips are excluded from No Tax On Tips. Charged tips in the restaurant industry run over 80% of tips to servers.

As an employer, we must still compute income and FICA taxes on the total charged and cash tips a server receives and withhold it from their paychecks. The server may claim a deduction on their income tax returns for the cash tips they received. Good luck with that.

In practical terms, this whole No Tax On Tips is bull shit. Good work Republican Congress persons!

It's gonna be okay - The FICA you pay contributes to the SS you're gonna want to collect at age 65! Bonus!

RE: The national debt. This is probably going to be re-structured down the road, a negotiated compromise with those holding those debt notes (e.g. China). Get domestic manufacturing going again, boost private sector employment, secure the border, kick out those here illegally, stop the entitlements fraud, and get spending under control. A few years of that, maybe more, then re-structure the debt.

Also, the fact that the bill was passed 51-50 with three Rs voting against it signifies that it was the most conservative bill that could pass in this session of Congress. Take the "W" people!
