But then, we discovered doing the show meant that each role was race specific, per contract. If I didn't have a black student who could portray Jefferson, I was out of luck. When I was invited by somebody a few years ago, it was advertised as a Brahms concert but most of the session was a horrible Washington DC composer that sounded like a construction site. It was right out of the Emperor’s new clothes.
They need to get a little bit better about selling tickets to visitors, students etc. the way they do in Europe.
