I read both arguments and seem to find threads of credibility in each. Maybe we are in the fog of MOU. But one thing is certain: there is no equivalence with Obama’s JCPOA. The devastation wrought by the American military puts the Iranian diehards in an infinitesimally worse position than they were in 2015. The US has leverage Obama didn’t have because Trump has proved he’ll use kinetic force to take out their nuclear capabilities. And after all, that was the stated intention at the outset of this war. Not regime change.. as much as many of us would like to see that.

USA is now the largest exporter of energy in the world. This is not only historic but it occurred because of Iran war. Also, OPEC is in tatters. This also is the case because of the Iran War. Another benefit that is not being pushed by legacy media because they can’t easily explain it - Iran will now return to selling its oil denominated in US dollars (and not Chinese Yuan). If you are familiar w/ Bretton Woods 1944, you’ll know why this is important to the USA. Another (coming) result could be more Middle East countries joining the Abraham Accords treaty, normalizing relations with Israel.
Perhaps contents of the MOU (which remains un finalized & have FAFO teeth behind it) really don’t matter all that much. Because after 3-months of (just air) war we have all these benefits to USA that could not have occurred otherwise.
