I think they were actually disappointed he didn't nuke them. Imagine how mentally disturbed you must be too late s person you never met so wholly that you are praying he would nuke another country just to fit your narrative. Or in the politician's cases, to win an election.

How did so many get so incredibly ill so quickly? I wonder what could have happened in the last five years that changed EVERYTHING???

It began longer than five years ago, when JFK effectively shut down the mental institutions, in 1975 the SCOTUS ruling prohibited involuntary incarceration for mental illness, and even the greatest modern president before Trump, Reagan, furthered it. As such, they all live among the normies and they get far too much attention.

I assume you are referring to the 1963 Community Mental Health Act. It was intended to replace the large, state run mental institutions with smaller community-based ones. The intent was to integrate such patients into society, Good intentions but it did indeed backfire—underfunded and poorly implemented. And yes, Reagan continued to cut federal support and inadvertently created a homeless population. I’m not sure, however, that that has much to do with distress over Trump’s advocating war crimes—whether part of “art of the deal” or simple bluster. I don’t see any of the folks Sasha cited as mentally ill. Do you?

Please tell me the Supreme Court Case you are referring to, I’m not familiar with it. I’m more familiar with the 1976 ruling in Estelle v Gamble on the Right to Mental Health Treatment. In that the Supreme Court ruled that “deliberate interference” in the medical needs of prisoners, including mental health needs was “cruel and unusual punishment” as prohibited in the 8th Amendment.

Oh, it may be O’Connie v Donalson! That was the case of a man who had been involuntarily confined for almost 15 years despite being of no danger to himself or others and having family willing to care for him. “Dangerousness” was the criterion. The state cannot confine someone simply because they are mentally ill.

Not sure what your definition of a “Noemi’s” is. A significant portion of very high achievers are not “normal”.

The bipartisan (CA) Lanterman-Petris-Short (LPS) Act of 1967 signed by Gov. Reagan is California's mental health law governing involuntary civil commitment predated Kennedy. It authorizes 72-hour (5150 hold) and 14-day (5250 hold) detention for evaluation and treatment of individuals deemed a danger to self, others, or gravely disabled. The act established legal rights and due process for those in treatment.

MSN narrative: Oil just went from $110 per barrel to $94 per barrel…..but can it last?

When people are so upset over Trump.....I don't know....maybe for brushing his teeth.... I simply say, "Being nuked isn't on my bingo card" and walk away.

Alice's avatar

Where do you get that people were disappointed? I honestly don’t see any hate. More concern for mental stability. I guess you have never worried about any politician.

Complex issues often require strategic and complex thinking and solutions. And time. Like it or not Trump has:

1.) Reorderd how the world trades with the U.S. and putting the U.S. at the advantage.

2.) Achieved peace agreements for 8 or so global conflicts.

3.) Reordered how our allies and adversaries perceive the U.S.. We are feared by both. We are no longer seen as suckers.

4.) Reorderd the politics of the Middle East in our favor.

5.) Cleaning out the leftist/Marxist stench in our hemisphere.

6.) upended China and it’s malfeasance including its influence in our hemisphere and its energy strategy by not only controlling the oil of one of its former proxies, Venezuela, but now making Venezuela our proxy. Trump may achieve this in Iran. Let’s see.

Only some of our Presidents have managed to make a single big impact on history in four years. Trump has made 5 or 6 big impacts in 15 months.

All the left has is hate and lies. Sadly, that is enough for ~ 70 million.

VOTE in November. And tell your friends to VOTE.

And don't forget the Panama Canal. CCP China planned on bringing down the hammer and controlling all travel through it.

Excellent Shasha, it could hardly be better put! Actually, I've come to the point - or conclusion - that if the Trump haters predict it will always be the opposite!

(?) I read Trump's words as a reiteration of the threat to take out civilization's infrastructure--Iran's bridges, power grid, etc.--exactly the targets he's mentioned before. There's no mention of genocide or nuclear weapons. Historically, the rise of civilization is coextensive with the rise of urbanization, written records, foreign trade, etc., and when your cities go dark and commerce grinds to a halt, you're surviving but you aren't enjoying the fruits of civilization. Trump is warning Iran's leaders that life is about to get very difficult for their country, not that he's going to slaughter everyone in it. How many times can you get away with crying "Wolf" before everyone else simply writes it off as a pathological reflex?

That's what I thought too. Thank you putting it in to words.

The Dems have cried wolf so long that they forgot what a wolf looks like

Jeff Childers, who writes Coffee and Covid on Substack, has another acronym for Trump that people should think about. TAW, Trump always wins!

How about

Trump Will Always Triumph (or, if TWAT is unseemly)

Trump Always Prevails TAP

TWAT...HAAHAAHAAHAAHAA. THAT'S HILARIOUS!!! I don't care what camp you're in, that is FUNNY! I bet Trump would laugh if he heard it.

I read the original post. He never said he was going to kill Iranians.

He never said anything about using nuclear weapons.

Many, many civilizations have been destroyed. It doesn’t mean some one committed genocide.

Whenever I think I lack mental discipline, Democrats come along to show me just how together I am. It used to be it took a couple years to completely flip their thinking, but it seems it just takes hours now.

Oh, well. Glad I got off that ride.

It’s unbelievable watching them turn this into Iran Is Winning, and gloating about it.

GabeReal's avatar

Yeah I’m seeing that all over social media and am wondering where the evidence for that is. But I’ve also seen many posts saying we’ve destroyed Irans military capabilities and they’re on the verge of surrendering, which is also obviously false. So much propaganda from all sides!

This was a very weird day. I was getting Cuban missile crisis vibes from when I was 8 and I remember them well. Trump is either brilliant or insane. I've got a large glass of bourbon going right now and feeling pretty good.

Unfortunately we plebes are always kept in the dark about what is really going on in faraway places, especially during warfare.

The only things we can predict with certainty, the TDS afflicted are going to scream about Trump, even to the point where they are hoping for a humiliating and tragic outcome for the US, Israel and the entire planet.

Likewise, we know there will be absolute diehard Trump supporters that believe everything has been preordained, Trump can do no wrong, and, the scariest, people who sincerely believe this is necessary to bring about the second coming of Christ.

Both extremes are insane and unhelpful, to put it mildly.

The progressive left continues to make fools of themselves, time and time again. Trump was never going to use a Nuke on Iran. I'd bet money that was a deliberately planted psyop ruse that Trump made believable by his Easter rant, then the progressives, neo-cons, never trumpers, and MSM went bonkers about impeachment, 25th amendment, psychotic in the Whitehouse etc., which only made the threat more believable. Must gall them to look in the mirror tomorrow and realize that they played a vital role in handing Trump another win. Now we also have a updated list of fools to refer to as needed, self-annoited intellectuals like Bill Kristol, etc. Hope they enjoy fried crow for breakfast.

The bottom line is that Iran could never be allowed to have a nuke, because that radical Shiite Theocratic Republic would use it with their suicide bomber mentality.

Most comments have already said most everything I had in mind to say. The only addition I might add is that these whacked out white leftists have been brainwashed into believing that having pride in your country is a bad, evil thing. They have had it drilled into their heads by other whacked out white leftists that the United States was founded by racists and our government is based on racist ideology.

Were there racists involved in our fight for independence from England? I'm sure there were. Racism had existed since civilization began. And I have news for those whacked out leftists, slavery was not created in the American colonies. And, slavery is STILL being practiced TODAY in places they claim are free of such atrocities, but NOT here. (Not legally anyway.)

Trump knows how to push the buttons of his detractors. And he enjoys the hell out of watching them lose their sh!t. It's has to be his 2nd favorite past time behind golf.

He says things that make ME do a face-palm. But, I know the game he is playing with the media and all those on the left who start screaming at the sky when he does it.

I am hopeful this agreement with the Iranian regime will actually happen and the regime will be weakened to the point that they lose control of the government and the thumb they have had the people of Iran under is chopped off....PERMANENTLY.

It is almost hilarious how the President can bait them into making themselves contradictory fools. Almost. What makes it fall far short of hilarious is that a solid 47% seem to be locked into this mindset.

Allow me to explain this.

Rule #1 Everything Donald Trump does (or doesn't do) is Wrong.

Rule #2 In the Highly unlikely event Donald Trump does something right....See Rule #1.

I have found that by following these simple rules/guidelines, Life is much Simpler.

Sasha,

Well said again. Where has all this loony talk come from? Maybe that is part of the plan to make it believable is to get former supporters to reject you?

Has anyone really checked the rhetoric coming from Iran all of these years? They have become deaf to administration after administration in the United States. Even after taking out much of the evil top the remaining Guard has control. Something had to be said to "GET THEIR ATTENTION" and I doubt this has done it yet. They are the stubborn mule in the fable of slapping them with a 2x4. All the democrats care about is humane treatment of the persecutors while a few of them are mowing people down in the streets and hanging others if they protest.
