The most striking thing to me was that she *remembers* the crime. She even remembers what she said to them as she was strangling them. It would seem that a truly psychotic person would not remember a single thing they did in that state once they came out of the psychosis. When she awoke at the hospital, she didn't ask for her kids. My experience as a Southerner attending college in MA some years ago was instructive. Many of my classmates were certain that I must be a racist, since lived in the South, yet not one of those who lectured me about "race" had ever even known a Black person. Not one!
Interestingly, I made more Black friends, some of whom told me that I treated them like people, not just a member of a race.

I'm a transplanted Yankee in the Carolinas. After moving here a southern friend upset me by saying the following: the South despises blacks as a race, but loves them as individuals, whereas the North despises blacks as individuals, but loves them as a race.
It made me angry. Thirty plus years of living in the South has vindicated his statement.

In our more rural summer abode in the South, race relations are VASTLY different, and better, than 40 years ago. Folks get along and take care of one another. Only difference I see here is in churches, where there is limited mingling.
I went to Coastal Carolina College (near Myrtle Beach) for my first year of college, in 1987 - 1988. I grew up in a college town in central PA. I was expecting open racism in the south because that was where I thought it was happening (there were 2 black people in my school my entire 12 years of grade school). What I found was the exact opposite. While I was a little uncomfortable around black people due to not knowing any personally before then, my white class mates in South Carolina treated them just the same as they treated other whites. For them most part with courtesy and respect. The white to black ratio at that college was probably pretty close to 50/50, so this was a good lesson for me, that the people that talk about their fellow white's racism, are probably the actual racists (a generalization, of course, but one that seems to have held up when looking at the virtue signalling leftists of today).
And I remember when schools were desegregating Boston was probably the worst. I watched from a small town in Texas where two of my friends were bussed 23 miles to school. I also remember when my school desegregated and it was no big deal.

Since Trump totally misinterpreted what he saw on the videos, the conclusions that he tried to convey in his convoluted responses to reporter’s questions on Aug. 15th were total nonsense. Because in truth, any “very fine” people, even those who want to preserve Confederate statues, would NOT align themselves armed neo-Nazis and white supremacist thugs at an event staged to flaunt their ugly racist beliefs. It is likely there were few if any “very fine” people there to protest the removal of the Lee statue. The only “very fine” people present were counter-protesters who assumed great risk in standing up to the hatred of the neo-Nazis, and one, Heather Heyer, paid the ultimate price. I disagree with the violence displayed by Antifa, but Trump repeatedly vilified Antifa, only calling out white supremacists when forced to.

I have never been antisemitic and was surprised by the widespread protests on campuses in favor of Palestine after the horrific acts of Oct 7. Most Americans have little knowledge about Islam and have no interest in it so why would people on the left want the US to be a Muslim state? The left believes in freedom of religion and separation of church and state and believes Muslims have the right to live & work in the US as long as they obey US laws. They even have the right to serve as Mayors or in Congress!

I volunteered for several years with Muslim refugee families, and over the years have attended several joint meetings and meals with Muslims, Christians (& Jews at times) at churches & mosques; the purpose of which was to understand each other and get along. The most striking thing to me was that she *remembers* the crime. She even remembers what she said to them as she was strangling them. My experience as a Southerner attending college in MA some years ago was instructive. Many of my classmates were certain that I must be a racist, since lived in the South, yet not one of those who lectured me about "race" had ever even known a Black person. Not one!
Interestingly, I made more Black friends, some of whom told me that I treated them like people, not just a member of a race.
Seems like those attitudes remain, and are now hardened into the DEI and tokenism that infests the Dem/Left/Radicals.
I'm a transplanted Yankee in the Carolinas. After moving here a southern friend upset me by saying the following: the South despises blacks as a race, but loves them as individuals, whereas the North despises blacks as individuals, but loves them as a race.
It made me angry. Thirty plus years of living in the South has vindicated his statement.
There are exceptions, of course, but as someone who has lived in both areas it is plain to see. The Left doesn't like to see uppity blacks think for themselves, or leave the Blue plantation.
I don't see it now, perhaps 40-50 years ago. In TX, where we moved for a while there seems no difference at all...and in fact true diversity of thought as well as race/etc seems "baked in the cake".
In our more rural summer abode in the South, race relations are VASTLY different, and better, than 40 years ago. Folks get along and take care of one another. Only difference I see here is in churches, where there is limited mingling.
I went to Coastal Carolina College (near Myrtle Beach) for my first year of college, in 1987 - 1988. I grew up in a college town in central PA. I was expecting open racism in the south because that was where I thought it was happening (there were 2 black people in my school my entire 12 years of grade school). What I found was the exact opposite. While I was a little uncomfortable around black people due to not knowing any personally before then, my white class mates in South Carolina treated them just the same as they treated other whites. For them most part with courtesy and respect. The white to black ratio at that college was probably pretty close to 50/50, so this was a good lesson for me, that the people that talk about their fellow white's racism, are probably the actual racists (a generalization, of course, but one that seems to have held up when looking at the virtue signalling leftists of today).
And I remember when schools were desegregating Boston was probably the worst. I watched from a small town in Texas where two of my friends were bussed 23 miles to school. I also remember when my school desegregated and it was no big deal.

Since Trump totally misinterpreted what he saw on the videos, the conclusions that he tried to convey in his convoluted responses to reporter’s questions on Aug. 15th were total nonsense. Because in truth, any “very fine” people, even those who want to preserve Confederate statues, would NOT align themselves armed neo-Nazis and white supremacist thugs at an event staged to flaunt their ugly racist beliefs. It is likely there were few if any “very fine” people there to protest the removal of the Lee statue. The only “very fine” people present were counter-protesters who assumed great risk in standing up to the hatred of the neo-Nazis, and one, Heather Heyer, paid the ultimate price. I disagree with the violence displayed by Antifa, but Trump repeatedly vilified Antifa, only calling out white supremacists when forced to.

Israel is not faultless as they have a history of bulldozing Palestinian homes, olive groves (their livelihood), and other acts of oppression for years which have built up anger and created terrorists in the Palestinian people. It has also led to people in the US to sympathize with Palestinians and movements to avoid investing in Israel. I have never been antisemitic and was surprised by the widespread protests on campuses in favor of Palestine after the horrific acts of Oct 7. Hamas does not care about Gazan civilians and is very pleased with the way the war is proceeding which makes Israel look bad on the world stage resulting in increasing antisemitism and creating a new generation of terrorists.

Most Americans have little knowledge about Islam and have no interest in it so why would people on the left want the US to be a Muslim state? The left believes in freedom of religion and separation of church and state and believes Muslims have the right to live & work in the US as long as they obey US laws. I volunteered for several years with Muslim refugee families, and over the years have attended several joint meetings and meals with Muslims, Christians (& Jews at times) at churches & mosques; the purpose of which was to understand each other and get along. I am afraid of FUNDAMENTALISM in both Christianity and Islam. The person will of course always have the XX or XY chromosomes they were born with and no gender affirmation treatment will ever be perfect, but if a person feels that their internal gender identification is at odds with their body, why do you care?
