My wife loves going to the movies and I am always reluctant at best, but I initiated going to see the show today. The popcorn was very good, and the movie was great for me. It was a glimpse into another world of opulence and consequence, where there is meaning to life and all the activities. There was gravitas and depth mixed with humor and playfulness. From a poignant visit with a former captive of Hamas and a visit to a cathedral to light a candle on Melania's mother's anniversary of her passing to light-hearted moments with Donald and Melania's much more attractive dancing to the YMCA anthem backstage, there were meaningful vignettes presented. Overall, I think the film resonated with patriotic Americans who value family and loyalty and devotion. These are the themes that connect an extremely extroverted billionaire and his reserved and incredibly beautiful wife to those non-elite hard-working Americans that make up his base. These people live their values and have no need to signal virtue because sacrifice and integrity is not for honoring one's self.

I love this, Willie. Your reflections here give me hope, courage, and gratitude that this country is filled with persons like you.

"These people live their values and have no need to signal virtue because sacrifice and integrity is not for honoring one's self."

Perfectly stated, Willie! The Trump's devotion to God, family, & country come across perfectly in this film!

Gene Frenkle's avatar

So you will believe the fact Barron speaks with a Slovenian accent shows Trump is devoted to family and country?? To me it shows Barron was raised by Melania’s family who are foreigners. Btw, Trump has the shallowest American roots of any president in history and before you exhibit your ignorance and say “buh Obama” just know Obama was raised by a WW2 vet which makes him deeply American irrespective of his father being a visiting student. 4 of Trump’s 5 children had a noncitizen mother at the time of their birth which makes them even less American than Trump!

Jen Todd's avatar

There's a thing these days called AI. If you ask it questions, like, "was Ivana Trump a citizen", it gives you the answer that, "Ivana Trump was an immigrant from Czechoslovakia who got her U.S. citizenship in 1988."

Gene Frenkle's avatar

Now check out when the kids were born!! 😝 😆 😂

Jen Todd's avatar

Their first was born in NY in 1977. He and his other 2 siblings were born, here in the US, to an American father. Trump's 4th and 5th to Amerian women. The 5th being the First Lady. Your argument about Obama somehow doesn't apply to Ivana Trump? Because Obama was raised by a WW2 vet and born to a non-citizen, that makes him exceptionally American? "Trump's kids are even less American (because of their non-citizen mother) than Trump"?

Gene Frenkle's avatar

No, Trump has the shallowest American roots of any president in history…4 of his 5 children just happen to have shallower American roots that him. Kamala would have had shallower roots than Trump but she lost. Barron has a Slovenian accent because Trump didn’t raise him.

Rev's avatar

I guess you are clear on where you fall on legal immigration.

Gene Frenkle's avatar

If you have babies before you are in the naturalization process then those babies are anchor babies!! So Barron isn’t an anchor baby and Tiffany could be because we don’t know who her father is!! 😝

Very well said Willie. I loved the film. I saw today with my daughter and plan to be going again next week with two of my friends. It was well done. I agreed I loved the mix of humor and playfulness along with discussions of serious issues. I got out of it how meticulous she is about everything and strives for excellence..

Melania is EVERYTHING they wish they could be. A brilliant shining example of grace under fire. Poised and confident, beautiful and classy. Wealthy but humble. You show them Melania, without saying a word. I can’t wait to see the movie!! 🍿

Danimal28's avatar

Agreed, Debby. She has all the power to be Cruella and is the most graceful 1st lady we have probably ever had. Ranks up there with Dolley.

Debby's avatar

It’s the exception rather the rule to see a woman of high stature remain grateful and humble. I would be honored to shake her hand. We are blessed as a nation to have gotten an UPGRADE from the previous two. Michelle and Jill were an embarrassment. They disrespected our great Country and never appreciated what they were handed. They certainly didn’t accomplish anything to attain such a position.

Danimal28's avatar

I cannot clear my memory of the contrast between Mel, Xill, and Michelle especially during Christmas and each ones decoration of the White House.

She was an Epstein’s girl. Trump probably paid for her. Now, she thinks she is Cher. lol

She’s a professional troll. Reads 871 publications, pays for none. Just restacks anti-Trump stuff and drops in to belittle conservatives. Toad is a great description, but probably a Chinese guy paid by the Chinese government sitting in a room with 50 others planting these comments everywhere.

Headsup's avatar

Sorry dude there is no verified evidence that Melania Trump was an "Epstein girl". The left survives on shady innuendos. Keep it up, they're humorous.

What IS undeniable is that Kamala was a Willie Brown girl. A classic example of 'me too' that worked in reverse. And you voted for her.

The doormat is at your house :-)

Haha you wish. The more you hate her the more we love here.

When you say statement like that that in uncalled for, childish, a lie, and not at all funny, it tells how desperate you are for attention. So very sad.

Surprise surprise. Of course you hate her. She's everything you're not and never will be. And coming from the party of anger, hate, and violence, you are hereby requested to please not assassinate her or her husband.

Ah, Te, I'll bet you were lovely once. (And knew when not to use an apostrophe.)

Debby's avatar

CHER???? Who the heck aspires to be a 79 year old plastic alien like Cher? She’s a nut job and her messed up daughter is trans. The absolute worst of all possible outcomes anyone would want for their children.

Litr8r's avatar

That Cher is Te's ideal tells you everything. LOL!

The same people probably drooled over Jill Biden and Michelle Obama. They’re not even trying to hide their bitterness and bias. They can’t even come up with good snark. These aren’t film reviews, they’re political rants and virtue signals. It’s a level of shameless adherence to party dogma that would have impressed a Stalinist writing for the Daily Worker in the 1930s.

Pam Humphrey's avatar

they're still flocking to the whiner michelle obama!

Litr8r's avatar

That's "racist, America-hating, grifting whiner."

That's Doctor Jill Biden, to you.

I saw Melania at the 10am showing this morning. Honestly, I already knew that she is beautiful and stately, but I didn't know much else about Melania, other than that in Trump's first term, she didn't want to move Barron into the White House right away, and I respected her motherly instincts at the time.

I very much enjoyed this documentary, describing the days up to Trump's 2nd inauguration. After viewing, I respect her now, more than ever. She is spending her time working for the betterment of foster kids, as they head out into the world. As a former volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate, I can attest to the need for support after foster care, as foster kids become adults.

I also enjoyed her love for fashion (not my thing), but I appreciate people who see fashion as art, and you can't think of a more classy First Lady than Melania,(even Jackie O). The attention to detail!!

Lastly, I enjoyed the glimpses of her relationship with Trump. They are a good match, yin and yang. The film showed her strength in the relationship.

Witnessing the ins and outs of the inauguration process and what it's like to move into the White House was also fascinating.

I loved reliving those amazing days in Jan 2025, the Miracle on Ice!

When I see low critic ratings and high audience ratings together, I know to take a second look at the movie!

Of course the Left hates it 😂

Peter's avatar

Saw it, liked it, she is not Trump, she is her own person. If I had the chance to meet one or the other I think I would meet her. I can see why he loves her. I think she is looking forward to 2028 where she can hang out in Mar a logo and enjoy the rest of her life. She has so much class.

John Duffy Live Courageously's avatar

You nailed it again. Great analysis. Saw it today. She is classy, patriotic, successful, family-oriented, humanitarian, all of the things the Left aren't and hate. And today, all the lefties on social media were making fun of the fact that if they wanted alone time today, they would go see Melania, and once again, they were 100% off. On one level, it's so sad that all they have these days is envy, anger, and hate. I wish we could bridge the divide and have respectful, intelligent conversations and disagreements, but I'm too old to be that naive.

Next up

Usha. Even if she doesn't make a movie, the critics will trash her. They don't live in the same reality.

Beeswax's avatar

Their job is to trash her.

Peggy Bojduj's avatar

It’s so pathetic. She’s so Jackie Kennedy-esque. whom I’m thinking they approve of. These folks are unbelievably programmed. It’s sad and scary.

Marius Clore's avatar

Jackie K was great, but Melania is at a whole other level. To put it another way, with a cycling analogy, Melania is to Pogacar as Jackie K is to his nearest competitors in the pro-peloton, and they can't lay a finger on him. The truth is that nobody can lay a finger on Melania when it comes to beauty, poise and smartness in one package.

Deborah Gallaway's avatar

It is. Sad. And scary. Thanks be to God we do not have to listen to them.

Peggy Bojduj's avatar

Yes but they are the trained activists bringing up the future generations. Read Insurrection Barbies substack on how CCP is training educators through strategic leaders training in Cuba. If we don’t wake up and address this they will be ruling us. But as you say. God Is In Control 🙏🏼

NNTX's avatar

Just for kicks and grins, I checked the Rotten Tomatoes rating for the 2024 film, “Reagan”. Remarkably similar with 18% Tomatometer (68 reviews) and 98% Popcornmeter (5000+ “verified” ratings).

They are in their own bubble.

Te Reagan's avatar

Y’all realize these numbers can be manipulated??

I swear, Trump has made many Republicans just plan stupid. Apparently, non of this happens until Trump 2.0

No, never. lol

A strong believer in giving even an apparent dolt another chance, I was hoping that your second posting would make more sense then the first. No such luck. You should probably follow Dean Wormer's paraphrased advice: "Fat, drunk and [Liberal] is no way to go through life, son."

There's a place for the venomous Lefty ladies... not here of course, but with Jennifer Welsh and her ilk.

Paul Scofield's avatar

I had to look Welsh up, to see who you are referring to. By the looks of it, you are correct. By the looks of her, an angry saluki must have gotten over the fence somewhere along the line.

I said she was one of the demons that escaped after being called up by some teenage girl during the Satanic Panic, but I like the saluki reference.

I actually became a Republican recently, having left my lifelong Democrat party years ago when they became insane and elistist, becoming an independent for a number of years. But as the Left has become more hateful and insane and violent, I decided to get as far away from them as possible.

Same; covid is what finally did me in. I can't wait to see this movie!

Sad what the democrat party does to some people, especially the weak ones who have trouble thinking for themselves - tell your children not to hangout with criminals, drug users, or democrats.

I don't remember a Democrat putting an end to the cold war.

Reagan had to clean up Carter's mess just as Trump is cleaning up Biden's.

Next time please leave the people's house as you found it.

I only speak one language instead of five languages, so I am not qualified to make an opinion. I will announce that she is very elegant, classy, and a wonderful mother and wife.

The Radical Individualist's avatar

What is blatantly obvious is that the reviews are entirely politically biased. Progressives have painted themselves into a corner, and keep on painting.

Jan 31Edited

One admitted he didn’t even SEE the movie. This is why I never base my viewing on “critics” because they’re not worth considering. And why awards are meaningless.

The Radical Individualist's avatar

I haven't watched an award show in over a decade. Why would I want to watch a bunch of smug, intellectually inbred heathens tell me they hate me?

Demonhype's avatar

So he admitted he didnt actually do his job and only hates the movie for purely theoretical ideological reasons. Which makes his review not a review, just a religious affirmation.

I mean, there are movies I hate based on the fact they exist at all and the things I've heard about them (ex: every trashfire Disney live action remake ever made), but if I was going to actually sound off on them in some kind of review I'd darn well lay up a supply of barf bags and watch them myself.

Not a commentary on the quality of this Melania movie, BTW. No opinions about that at all outside of this clear ivory tower bias shown in the critic/public reviews. I voted for Trump but tbh, never really been that interested personally in Melania one way or another. Totally neutral on the subject though I'm sure she'd be lovely if I ever met her. My TDS mom sees her as a joke though. Of course.

KJens's avatar

Saw it last night - sold out show in Atlanta (not the suburbs). The 2 previous showings were also sold out. The audience clapped enthusiastically at the end.

Worth noting among the inside look at the run up to the inauguration - Aviva Siegel, the former hostage Melania comforts in the movie had her husband's release secured 12 days into the Trump presidency.

mk's avatar

It was interesting. You got to see behind the scenes of the inauguration planning with so many details you never even thought of. It had it's slow moments but on the whole was quite enjoyable. The theater where I saw it was nearly full and you could tell people were enjoying it.

Just saw ‘Melanie’ this afternoon and it was an amazingly well done movie documenting the 20 days before and up to the inauguration. I highly recommend seeing it.
