It costs us nothing to offer grace - beautiful, true, and words to live by. Thank you, Sasha, for a beautiful post. May we all think of your words when we have a choice to offer grace.
I just want to add, I’m amazed and grateful Sasha woke up, saw the news, gathered info and and put together a beautiful piece with a reminder to all that they have the power for Grace in moments like this—also noting that she lives three hours behind me in the US. So while I was sleeping, Sasha was up early doing what she does best, crafting words into a thoughtful piece that will stand the test of time. Major kudos and much appreciation for her work. 🌺
And Sasha - THANK YOU for showing us Lindsay's powerful and fiery speech at Bret Kavanaugh's hearing. Someone should be saying that to all the DC Democrats every day. He certainly spoke for me when I witnessed that despicable hearing.
It brought to mind the Supreme Court hearing for Clarence Thomas. There is nothing that so readily reveled for me the true nature of the Democrats than to see how they treated a black man who was nominated for the highest court in the land but stood for the wrong side.
The strategy was the same - accuse the guy of sexual improprieties. Thank God their ruse failed.
The Democrats are so predictable. And morally grotesque. You don't like Republicans or anyone else who has a different perspective? Call them racists.
You don't like the politics or the looming success of a man aiming for a highly powerful position, especially if he's black? Accuse him of rape.
I remember it. I think it was inspired and thinking that I wished he spoke up like that all the time! I think it was his best speech, not that I've heard them all!
And Cabbagehead Scumbag Joe Biden led the mudslinging against Thomas. I didn’t care for LG but would not celebrate his death. Cabbagehead on the other hand I’ll have to wait to decide.
They even use it on their own candidates when they become inconvenient, as in their polling numbers tank. Ask Graham and that disgusting Californian. Thank you Sasha for showing decent democrats like Donna Brazile and Fetterman. Thankfully there is a tad of grace on their side. But you can also sense how far we’ve fallen by everyday bad behavior just by turning on Reelz or Cops and watch how entitled idiots —always in the wrong— treat law enforcement officers who wear cameras! And the amount of crazy, hysterical women that shout “You can’t do that to me!” When the officer clearly can, and thankfully, does when he or she arrests them. I was an LEO for 30 years in a big NE city, and let me tell you, I am so glad I no longer am one. We’ve become a craven nation of keyboard-safe warriors, who, thanks to sites like Libs of TikTok, do face consequences for their up-until-then consequences free life!
My single thought here is “do any of these Leftists understand the idea of Karma”? You reap what you sow. If you wish hate on others you will receive hate. What a sad way for these people to live life. It is as if they were already dead
Thank you Sasha. I can now leave it there. That’s all I need to hear today. We need to care about each other again. Grace to his family and especially his sister.
Sasha nailed the difference between the Left and Right. The Left requires conformity to their globalist POV. That is also fundamentally what drives Marxism, the demand for conformity by means of totalitarianism. People are eliminated who do not conform. The Right on the other hand, is all about independence and freedom. America was founded on that principle. We believe in diversity. The Left says they do, but they don’t. Diversity has nothing to do with skin color or gender. It has everything to do with what is inside you
So conservative mobs make scenes in public & scream at liberals with their families in restaurants to force them to leave? And are encouraged to do so by GOP Congressmen? Show up at Dem rallies and assault the attendees? Scream right in the faces of innocent diners at outdoor dining and demand they raise their fist & chant for Black Lives Matter? Deface & topple monuments they don’t like? Take over city blocks & assault the press & civilians? I can show you many many many videos of this ruthless behavior by Democrats. That’s what your shock troops do. It’s been going on for more than 10 years. Bet you can’t show the reverse.
I was a United Methodist from birth (now Jewish). I can tell you that the major Protestant denominations are very liberal, too liberal for me. Yes, there is a requirement for conformity: conformity to the norms of Progressives. In any religious group, there is an expectation to follow the traditions of that religion. But there is no REQUIREMENT to be a member in a free society. We still have the independence to follow whatever religion we want. In totalitarian regimes, one does not.
My example exactly because I was one. But that was the 1960s. I can't believe how much more Progressive / Leftist the Methodists have become. It is embarrassing, as I told the female preacher at my dad's church.
When I read that Lindsey had passed my spontaneous, unfiltered response was sadness. It surprised me. As I reflected upon it I realized that in unspoken ways I liked the man's steadfast, honest and principled position.
And as for the ugly response of the left, once again they have shown us their callous inhumanity.
I wouldn't want to be any one of them now or in the life to come.
Thank you for this. I was not pleased at what Trump said about Rob Reiner, but Reiner was more than a loud critic of Trump. He was an active participant in the Russiagate hoax. Maybe he was a sincere believer (unlike Brennan, who he worked with, who knew it was all a lie), but I can understand why Trump was not able to be gracious about the death of someone who tried to frame him as a Russian agent and traitor.
He did spend his entire career uncovering schemes and plots, but couldn't come to any conclusion after his $40m dollar investigation other than "maybe evidence". He may have been experiencing signs of Parkinson's then which could have been a factor in his being appointed. Dems see those kinds of things as opportunity. Mueller certainly didn't like Trump.
Really? The Mueller probe resulted in 37 indictments or guilty pleas of individuals and entities, including top Trump campaign aides like Paul Manafort, Michael Flynn, and Rick Gates.
I defended many cases against the federal government. Let me tell you how they went, without exception: the AUSA tells the defendant that he can plead guilty to (x) counts, usually one or two, by close of business today. The alternative is that the AUSA will obtain(y) indictments for felonies against the defendant, his family, and acquiescences. “Y” is usually in the range of 10-20. And all of us in the criminal law biz know that when you go against the fed it will spend 5 million bucks to send some poor schmo down for 3 years if he fights it.
In my district the USA had a 97.3% conviction rate. That’s in the certainty neighborhood of gravity. So don’t use guilty pleas as evidence of guilt because it’s only evidence of arm twisting.
I did not know this, but it makes perfect sense. Of course, with the full weight of the government and intelligence agencies against him, it's yet more evidence of law fare against Trump for nothing but political purposes and yet they couldn't pin anything on him, because they had nothing.
When the full wight of government and intelligence agencies are out to get you, they will find something you can be sure. Yet they couldn't pin anything on Trump. They had to have something to show for their made up investigation that was based on basically nothing.
Don't speak ill of the dead is a civilized rule of society. Everyone is dealing with more issues than anyone else knows. Thanks Sasha for a humble reflection in an age of vitriol.
That speech at the Kavanaugh hearing was enough to put him in the history books forever. I was so glad when he made it. The hearings were the absolute pit of leftist craziness, and when I think about their double standards—how they treated Blasey Ford as opposed to Ashli Babbitt—it makes me sick in my heart. How do people get so twisted? Lindsey brought the receipts in that speech. And SNL of course had to turn it into a joke and a slur. God rest his soul in peace.
The globalist "one world order" leftists are the same no matter what side of the globe you are on or what country they are pissing on. They hate anyone who doesn't toe the line they keep moving around on the sidewalk.
Thanks, you for your kind words. We cannot live in a Country where we wish death upon those we disagree with. Rest in peace, Senator Graham. Blessings to his sister.
I have never been a big fan of Graham, but I never wished death on him. I'm one who will not shed any tears for him, but I do pray for his family in their time of loss. I also pray that the people of South Carolina will elect a true conservative to take his spot and not another RINO, or Heaven forbid a leftist.
Maybe, something as simple as a major cardiac arrest during sleep. Leave it that Senator Graham has died, and leave his family to grieve. No doubt at some point, we may learn of the cause of death. But, leave the family alone. The rest is chafe, scattered to distract. Again, enough.
It is moving to me to see people on the other side of the aisle offering condolences. Very healing. I know some may be mouthing platitudes but I think they're sincere and here is why - people are so unhinged and uncharitable these days, it actually costs them with many of their supporters to be gracious and kind.
Wellllll… the definition of GRACE is literally “unmerited favor”. Not sure where you get off declaring that grace is earned when the whole point of grace is that it’s NOT deserved. Perhaps you should spend some time with a dictionary?
Grace: getting something I don’t deserve
Mercy: not getting what I deserve
Hope this helps. Words can be tricky. I understand.
What are you talking about? I am of the opinion that Graham SHOUD be given grace. The idiot I replied to was saying that Grace is earned. That’s the literal opposite of what the word means. What is wrong with YOU?
Suggest a better word, Oh Learned One. "Mercy" implies backing off from harming someone. I prefer this definition of grace: A sense of fitness or propriety.
Definitions of "grace":
Seemingly effortless beauty or charm of movement, form, or proportion.
A characteristic or quality pleasing for its charm or refinement.
A sense of fitness or propriety.
A disposition to be generous or helpful; goodwill.
** Mercy; clemency**
A favor rendered by one who need not do so; indulgence.
A temporary immunity or exemption; a reprieve.
(Greek & Roman Mythology) Three sister goddesses, known in Greek mythology as Aglaia, Euphrosyne, and Thalia, who dispense charm and beauty.
Divine favor bestowed freely on people, as in granting redemption from sin.
The state of having received such favor.
An excellence or power granted by God.
A short prayer of blessing or thanksgiving said before or after a meal.
Used with His, Her, or Your as a title and form of address for a duke, duchess, or archbishop.
(Music) An appoggiatura, trill, or other musical ornament in the music of 16th and 17th century England.
Your response is beyond superfluous and absurd, and not worth reading in full. The man literally said “grace is earned”. No, it is not. And for the record, I believe Graham SHOULD be given grace, just as I hope people will give to me, regardless of my shortcomings. I provided the most succinct definitions of both “mercy” and “grace” as rooted in the Bible and therefore found in the Greek language, which the New Testament was written in. Your response wasn’t the flex you’d hoped.
It costs us nothing to offer grace - beautiful, true, and words to live by. Thank you, Sasha, for a beautiful post. May we all think of your words when we have a choice to offer grace.
I wholeheartedly agree, Beth.

Amen. Amen.
Well said - well said.

Beth — I came here to write something very close to what you’ve just offered. Thank you — & thank YOU, Sasha! 💝💝
My single thought here is “do any of these Leftists understand the idea of Karma”? You reap what you sow. If you wish hate on others you will receive hate. What a sad way for these people to live life. It is as if they were already dead
“…as if they were already dead.” My, yes, that’s a powerful — & moving — observation!
Agree. "Offer grace", the thought for today.....and for a lifetime.
Thank you Sasha. I can now leave it there. That’s all I need to hear today. We need to care about each other again. Grace to his family and especially his sister.

Not really. Right wing Christians certainly aren't tolerant of other religions or viewpoints. Conservatives expect conformity.
As a former lefty myself, (well, I'm still left handed, but not a leftist) I think you nailed it.
I'm a lefty too, but not a Leftist!
I was a United Methodist from birth (now Jewish). I can tell you that the major Protestant denominations are very liberal, too liberal for me. Neither are left-wing Christians. Case in point united Methodists.
My example exactly because I was one. But that was the 1960s. I can't believe how much more Progressive / Leftist the Methodists have become. It is embarrassing, as I told the female preacher at my dad's church.

I'm glad I found your Substack column. You are a gentle and thoughtful writer. I like that.

Mueller was the face of and co-conspirator in a coup attempt against the sitting president.
I can’t decide about Mueller. He was certainly the face, but he may have just been manipulated and bamboozled by his underlings like Weissmann.

"Show me the man, and I'll find you the crime."
Financial ruin vs. take a plea deal? Most take the plea deal. Trump had the money and time to fight the government and their gross lawfare.
Congratulations, Ana Kasparian. You are no better than the people you despise and you say are evil.
She’s a very cocky, arrogant & self-righteous loudmouth. She’s not dumb but she’s too taken with herself.
Don't speak ill of the dead is a civilized rule of society. Everyone is dealing with more issues than anyone else knows. Thanks Sasha for a humble reflection in an age of vitriol.

Not to mention Tara Reid & the first accuser of Graham Platner.
Absolutely!👍
Over in the UK, an elderly woman politician was murdered last week, she had been a Tory but had gone Reform for Brexit. The on-line Left celebrated.
The globalist "one world order" leftists are the same no matter what side of the globe you are on or what country they are pissing on. They hate anyone who doesn't toe the line they keep moving around on the sidewalk.
Your Thomas Jefferson quote is fake.
The British are eurotrash - no better than the French
So sad!

I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather. Not screaming in terror like the passengers in his car.
Sasha, well said. Grace us in such short supply these days. So sad.
Who knew that Donna Brazile was a decent person? Well she is.
It is moving to me to see people on the other side of the aisle offering condolences. Very healing. I know some may be mouthing platitudes but I think they're sincere and here is why - people are so unhinged and uncharitable these days, it actually costs them with many of their supporters to be gracious and kind.
Thank you, Sasha. Thank you for your insight on Graham and thank you for leading the way on grace and class. Love you sis!
Grace is earned. Sky Chief is watching and listening.
God rest the soul of LG.

Jeebus - do you go around haunting the almost dead for sh*ts and giggles too!?
NOUN
1. elegance and beauty of movement, form, expression, or proportion
2. a pleasing or charming quality
3. goodwill or favour
4. the granting of a favour or the manifestation of goodwill, esp by a superior
5. a sense of propriety and consideration for others
7. (plural)
3. affectation of manner (esp in the phrase airs and graces )
4. regarded favourably and with kindness by someone
Apparently there are regular dictionaries and twisted, evil, f*ck dictionaries.
Mine comes straight from dictionary.com - but hey, whatever you need to keep that gnawing at your soul to continue…
I get it - being human can be tricky.
What are you talking about? I am of the opinion that Graham SHOUD be given grace. The idiot I replied to was saying that Grace is earned. That’s the literal opposite of what the word means. What is wrong with YOU?
