It costs us nothing to offer grace - beautiful, true, and words to live by. Thank you, Sasha, for a beautiful post. May we all think of your words when we have a choice to offer grace.

I wholeheartedly agree, Beth.

I just want to add, I’m amazed and grateful Sasha woke up, saw the news, gathered info and and put together a beautiful piece with a reminder to all that they have the power for Grace in moments like this—also noting that she lives three hours behind me in the US. So while I was sleeping, Sasha was up early doing what she does best, crafting words into a thoughtful piece that will stand the test of time. Major kudos and much appreciation for her work. 🌺

Beth — I came here to write something very close to what you’ve just offered. Thank you — & thank YOU, Sasha! 💝💝

Well said - well said.

And Sasha - THANK YOU for showing us Lindsay's powerful and fiery speech at Bret Kavanaugh's hearing. Someone should be saying that to all the DC Democrats every day. He certainly spoke for me when I witnessed that despicable hearing.

It brought to mind the Supreme Court hearing for Clarence Thomas. There is nothing that so readily reveled for me the true nature of the Democrats than to see how they treated a black man who was nominated for the highest court in the land but stood for the wrong side.

The strategy was the same - accuse the guy of sexual improprieties. Thank God their ruse failed.

The Democrats are so predictable. And morally grotesque. You don't like Republicans or anyone else who has a different perspective? Call them racists.

You don't like the politics or the looming success of a man aiming for a highly powerful position, especially if he's black? Accuse him of rape.

My single thought here is “do any of these Leftists understand the idea of Karma”? You reap what you sow. If you wish hate on others you will receive hate. What a sad way for these people to live life. It is as if they were already dead

Thank you Sasha. I can now leave it there. That’s all I need to hear today. We need to care about each other again. Grace to his family and especially his sister.

Sasha nailed the difference between the Left and Right. The Left requires conformity to their globalist POV. That is also fundamentally what drives Marxism, the demand for conformity by means of totalitarianism. People are eliminated who do not conform. The Right on the other hand, is all about independence and freedom. America was founded on that principle. We believe in diversity. The Left says they do, but they don’t. Diversity has nothing to do with skin color or gender. It has everything to do with what is inside you

I'm glad I found your Substack column. You are a gentle and thoughtful writer. I like that.

Thank you for this. I was not pleased at what Trump said about Rob Reiner, but Reiner was more than a loud critic of Trump. He was an active participant in the Russiagate hoax. Maybe he was a sincere believer (unlike Brennan, who he worked with, who knew it was all a lie), but I can understand why Trump was not able to be gracious about the death of someone who tried to frame him as a Russian agent and traitor.

Mueller was the face of and co-conspirator in a coup attempt against the sitting president.

PapayaSF's avatar

I can’t decide about Mueller. He was certainly the face, but he may have just been manipulated and bamboozled by his underlings like Weissmann.

Congratulations, Ana Kasparian. You are no better than the people you despise and you say are evil.

Don't speak ill of the dead is a civilized rule of society. Everyone is dealing with more issues than anyone else knows. Thanks Sasha for a humble reflection in an age of vitriol.

Over in the UK, an elderly woman politician was murdered last week, she had been a Tory but had gone Reform for Brexit. The on-line Left celebrated.

The globalist "one world order" leftists are the same no matter what side of the globe you are on or what country they are pissing on. They hate anyone who doesn't toe the line they keep moving around on the sidewalk.

Thanks, you for your kind words. We cannot live in a Country where we wish death upon those we disagree with. Rest in peace, Senator Graham. Blessings to his sister.

Charles Wemyss, Jr.'s avatar

Maybe, something as simple as a major cardiac arrest during sleep. Leave it that Senator Graham has died, and leave his family to grieve. No doubt at some point, we may learn of the cause of death. But, leave the family alone. The rest is chafe, scattered to distract. Again, enough.

I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather. Not screaming in terror like the passengers in his car.

I have never been a big fan of Graham, but I never wished death on him. I'm one who will not shed any tears for him, but I do pray for his family in their time of loss. I also pray that the people of South Carolina will elect a true conservative to take his spot and not another RINO, or Heaven forbid a leftist.

That speech at the Kavanaugh hearing was enough to put him in the history books forever. I was so glad when he made it. The hearings were the absolute pit of leftist craziness, and when I think about their double standards—how they treated Blasey Ford as opposed to Ashli Babbitt—it makes me sick in my heart. How do people get so twisted? Lindsey brought the receipts in that speech. And SNL of course had to turn it into a joke and a slur. God rest his soul in peace.

It is moving to me to see people on the other side of the aisle offering condolences. Very healing. I know some may be mouthing platitudes but I think they're sincere and here is why - people are so unhinged and uncharitable these days, it actually costs them with many of their supporters to be gracious and kind.

Grace is earned. Sky Chief is watching and listening.

Jessica Bates's avatar

Wellllll… the definition of GRACE is literally “unmerited favor”. Not sure where you get off declaring that grace is earned when the whole point of grace is that it’s NOT deserved. Perhaps you should spend some time with a dictionary?

Grace: getting something I don’t deserve

Mercy: not getting what I deserve

Hope this helps. Words can be tricky. I understand.

Jeebus - do you go around haunting the almost dead for sh*ts and giggles too!?

NOUN

1. elegance and beauty of movement, form, expression, or proportion

2. a pleasing or charming quality

3. goodwill or favour

4. the granting of a favour or the manifestation of goodwill, esp by a superior

5. a sense of propriety and consideration for others

7. (plural)

3. affectation of manner (esp in the phrase airs and graces )

4. regarded favourably and with kindness by someone

Apparently there are regular dictionaries and twisted, evil, f*ck dictionaries.

Mine comes straight from dictionary.com - but hey, whatever you need to keep that gnawing at your soul to continue…

I get it - being human can be tricky.

Jessica Bates's avatar

What are you talking about? I am of the opinion that Graham SHOUD be given grace. The idiot I replied to was saying that Grace is earned. That’s the literal opposite of what the word means. What is wrong with YOU?

Bonnie Beresford's avatar

Suggest a better word, Oh Learned One. "Mercy" implies backing off from harming someone. I prefer this definition of grace: A sense of fitness or propriety.

Definitions of "grace":

Seemingly effortless beauty or charm of movement, form, or proportion.

A characteristic or quality pleasing for its charm or refinement.

A sense of fitness or propriety.

A disposition to be generous or helpful; goodwill.

** Mercy; clemency**

A favor rendered by one who need not do so; indulgence.

A temporary immunity or exemption; a reprieve.

(Greek & Roman Mythology) Three sister goddesses, known in Greek mythology as Aglaia, Euphrosyne, and Thalia, who dispense charm and beauty.

Divine favor bestowed freely on people, as in granting redemption from sin.

The state of having received such favor.

An excellence or power granted by God.

A short prayer of blessing or thanksgiving said before or after a meal.

Used with His, Her, or Your as a title and form of address for a duke, duchess, or archbishop.

(Music) An appoggiatura, trill, or other musical ornament in the music of 16th and 17th century England.

Your response is beyond superfluous and absurd, and not worth reading in full. The man literally said “grace is earned”. No, it is not. And for the record, I believe Graham SHOULD be given grace, just as I hope people will give to me, regardless of my shortcomings. I provided the most succinct definitions of both “mercy” and “grace” as rooted in the Bible and therefore found in the Greek language, which the New Testament was written in. Your response wasn’t the flex you’d hoped.

Sasha, well said. Grace us in such short supply these days. So sad.
