You didn't pay attention to his age. At 74, there is so much I don't worry about, e.g. measles, becasue I have a natural, strong, lifetime immunity because I had it as a child. There is a lot to disagree with Trump on: his timing of the Iran initiative, his use of tariffs for punitive and asymmetrical actions against otherwise friendly countries like Canada, his painting outside the lines on building new national monuments like the triumphal arch and the White House ballroom; Much of this is unproductive and does not advance the ball on the key points almost all of us agree on which are: Secure Borders, Biological Genders, Reshoring Manufacturing, getting and staying ahead of China on the technology curve (AI and robotics), reducing the national cost of healthcare from 20%+ compared to Europe (less than 10%), eliminating and prosecuting government fraud, Constitutionally getting rid of sanctuary cities and states, planning for the transition of jobs from the impact of AI, and so on. There are so many important things to work on and Trump often chooses the policies that make him feel good / get retribution. But given all of those concerns, what are the options? Socialism will be the death of America. I choose Life over Death

As someone in the manufacturing space for 45 years, who saw our politicians destroy my sector and the jobs of my friends by exporting jobs with NAFTA and bringing China into the WTO, I don't need any encouragement to appreciate tariffs and Trump's focus on encouraging foreign capital investment. But there are ways to do that and ways not to do it. It needs to be very objective and non-confrontational. Trump just can't resist using tariffs to beat up his opponents. But, as I said in my open above, I will take Trump with all his personal flaws over the other options. In 2016 I voted for the "bull in the china shop" and got it.

I definitely remember my health insurance premiums jumping up noticeably 2013-2014 after Obamacare passed. It was my first real job with health benefits, I remember the health broker coming to the office and telling employees that our company had better, more affordable plans her own company. All that affordability disappeared the next year once Obamacare passed.

Btw, we paid the tax penalty. Best decision was to invest that money. Think about how much money goes to insurance companies that is never to minimally used by the people paying for it.

I have to agree with you. I’m an aging baby boomer—voted red all my life despite living in NY, Los Angeles, and Seattle. Obamacare/Medicare, etc. crashed the health insurance car and put it on a permanent course for being terrible for everyone. There is a lot to disagree with Trump on: his timing of the Iran initiative, his use of tariffs for punitive and asymmetrical actions against otherwise friendly countries like Canada, his painting outside the lines on building new national monuments like the triumphal arch and the White House ballroom; Much of this is unproductive and does not advance the ball on the key points almost all of us agree on which are: Secure Borders, Biological Genders, Reshoring Manufacturing, getting and staying ahead of China on the technology curve (AI and robotics), reducing the national cost of healthcare from 20%+ compared to Europe (less than 10%), eliminating and prosecuting government fraud, Constitutionally getting rid of sanctuary cities and states, planning for the transition of jobs from the impact of AI, and so on. There are so many important things to work on and Trump often chooses the policies that make him feel good / get retribution. But given all of those concerns, what are the options? Trump chose Iran in spite of the potential political fallout. That takes courage, he has the knowledge from intel on how close they were to a nuclear weapon. As for the government, SCOTUS etc, we are doing fine. Returning to the original intent of the flounders and correcting many of the mistakes by past politicians pandering for votes.
We've been around for 250 years, I see no reason why we won't be around in another 250. 300 million firearms seem to increase our chances of survival.
As someone in the manufacturing space for 45 years, who saw our politicians destroy my sector and the jobs of my friends by exporting jobs with NAFTA and bringing China into the WTO, I don't need any encouragement to appreciate tariffs and Trump's focus on encouraging foreign capital investment. But there are ways to do that and ways not to do it. It needs to be very objective and non-confrontational. Trump just can't resist using tariffs to beat up his opponents. But, as I said in my open above, I will take Trump with all his personal flaws over the other options. In 2016 I voted for the "bull in the china shop" and got it.
How has that system worked the last hundred years? Nothing better than a new way of doing business and having the side that developed it, and is the most knowledgeable. Because it is a new way of dong business, that doesn't make it wrong or bad. Just effective. That is the goal.

We were on the highway to hell in a hand basket and it was only the mercy and grace of God getting Trump elected that threw the brakes on the Democrats madness in power.
It will take YEARS to undo the incalculable damage that’s been done to this country by Democrats, while at the same time working on laying the groundwork for a new golden industrial age to burst forth, as well as see the fruits of all the new policies and programs and effects of deregulation and so many other things Trump is working 24/7 to reignite this country on a path of sanity and prosperity which cannot happen overnight, nor in just two years! One quick point jumped out at me; you mentioned your insurance went up when the Republicans made cuts. What year was that? I’m trying to frame the reference to my own experience.
I definitely remember my health insurance premiums jumping up noticeably 2013-2014 after Obamacare passed. It was my first real job with health benefits, I remember the health broker coming to the office and telling employees that our company had better, more affordable plans her own company. All that affordability disappeared the next year once Obamacare passed.
I suppose those are the trade-offs. That’s right about the time I left team blue. Nothing going on over there in crazy town can make me look back.

I’ve never made much and never had any type of subsidy my whole life. I’m 75, so that’s decades of working and raising two sons on my own (divorced).
No subsidies for us either. No loans have been excused. No bailouts. My husband and I have not had health insurance for twenty years. We pay for all the basics ourselves and fortunately have not had any calamities. If we, as was required under Obama's insurance mandate, paid into Obamacare, at least a quarter or more of our income would have gone to insurance we would have never used. Btw, we paid the tax penalty. Best decision was to invest that money. Think about how much money goes to insurance companies that is never to minimally used by the people paying for it.
Medicare for all is not the answer and Obama care is the worse thing the Dems could have done to health care. Roll all the uninsured into the Federal Employees Health Plans. There are 220+ choices.

I have to agree with you. I’m an aging baby boomer—voted red all my life despite living in NY, Los Angeles, and Seattle. I have never seen such hatred of this country, such ignorance of our founding principles and the brilliance of the Constitution as written, and such insanity on the other side as I see now. Trump put the brakes on our descent but I fear what will happen when the Democrats are back in power.

I've never taken for granted that you'll always vote for the Republicans - that's what makes you a valuable ally. Obamacare/Medicare, etc. crashed the health insurance car and put it on a permanent course for being terrible for everyone. They knew what they were doing: you don't have to change the laws for the car, you just have to crash it and go from there. People have to pay something for an item or it becomes overused and worthless/unusable. I learned that with housing vouchers: when people had to pay something and follow strict rules, they were more apt to treat it as something like a Golden Ticket (ala Willy Wonka). It's going to be bad no matter what it turns out to be.
