The husband refers to Urban Hipsters as Star Bellied Sneetches as each and every one of them has a big red (Soviet?) star tattoo displayed prominently. And they are very much elitists.

Actually, the 5-pointed Red Star is prominently displayed by Macy's, Heinekken, several European sport clubs, and some carbonated beverages.

True enough, though I doubt the Hipsters are signaling their allegiance to Heineken. For starters they only consume artisan microbrews produced within a 10 mile radius.

Or, of course, PBR. Because irony. :)

These moronic dweebs should listen to one of the greatest anthems in American history.

By Bocephus. “A country boy will survive “. The truth is that rural people don’t care two squats about any people from cities or Ukraine. Let them kill each other. No problem. Not our problem at all. The more of them gone, the better. Just, please, leave us alone.

Touché Sasha, I had forgotten this Seuss story...the man was pure genius...and so are YOU for pointing out the absurdity of the “blue checks”!

Agreed.

Dr.Seuss was a genius.

Brought back a lot of memories, and I 'm approaching 70.

Could. Not. Care. Less.

I avoid Twitter, FaceBook and anything that smells like them. Lost some corresponders because of this, but I remain happy with e-mail. For peace and sanity, I recommend doing the same.

There is an urban legend that Dr. Seuss and Raymond Chandler, of Philip Marlowe fame, were drinking buddies.

This is one of the little anecdotes about America that brings me untold joy.

I'm sure it isn't losing the blue check, but what it represents, that is driving them to distraction – yes, my grasp of the obvious is breathtaking...

Even without the blue check, in their minds, they are no less superior to those simplistic conservatives and libertarians, clinging to their bibles and guns – or to those ultra-MAGA Trump supporters. If the pre-Musk blue checks are the 'in' crowd, then I'd rather be on the outside.

I lurk on Twitter, now...though, I'm not sure just how much longer I'll do that – whenever I skim through my feed, I begin to feel physically ill.

I find Twitter “entertaining” in a “rubber neck” sort of way. It’s like driving by an accident and no matter how much I tell myself not to look, I do look even with peripheral vision.

It’s not hard to identify the important people on Twitter. Just ask them. There’s no shortage of people telling you how important they are. :)

Also Twitter seems to be a good resource for breaking stories or details that are overlooked by traditional outlets. Just my 2 cents.

Dr. Seuss was genius; I am so grateful I was a kid in 70's - Seuss, Monty Python, Bugs Bunny(Abra-ca-pocus), SNL, Hogans Heroes, Happy Days et al. Shows that made you think.

Twitter is like an oily stinky slimy stain on humanity. I rejoice in Dems/pols/media despair for having to *pay* to feel special with a blue check. They’re running scared now that Substack has gained momentum and followers and the curtain has been lifted—-the slimy permaculture of DC is utterly corrupt. Top to bottom.

Dr Seuss was a genius in many ways, anticipating many things, including Twitter blue checks, and, as Dr. Amy has shown us, injectable biologics against SARS-COV-2.

Sasha,

This is way off subject, but this is the only way I can find to communicate with you. (I am very new to substack but want to learn how to use it.)

I found an interview on Epoc Times that you may be interested in:

Jan Jekielek interviews Debbie Lerman who describes herself as a socialist democrat

but was accused of being a "Trumpist" by her friends when she presented COVID data.

She also learned that the COVID response was actually run by the NSA and

the DOD, not the Health Department as we supposed.

You may have to pay to see the interview, but it is worth it.

Can you imagine what the hippies of the 1960s and 70’s would have done if they actually knew then that in their lifetime the biggest partners of the FBI, CIA, NSA, DOD, IRS would be the Democratic Party? And the most outspoken for endless wars (eg Ukraine). And that “my body my choice” would not apply to forced vaccinations. The irony and hypocrisy is breathtaking. It is sad that they sold their soul. And for what?

I've been banned very quickly every time I've started an account there. Even after Musk took over. I don't know how those of you who survive there do it. It's like a 24-hour round-the-clock bar fight. I guess my return punches were too obvious, or something. I'm only in read-only mode there abs that's fine.

Musk's Twitter is great. Less maoist nanny-state and more great people. If you look for interesting engagement, conversation, and learning, you find it. If you look for confrontation, division, and fights, you find it.

I wanted to comment on your article about Bette Middler but I couldn't find it. Shortly after I retired from the trucking business as a driver, I took a job for awhile driving for the Top Limo company in Seattle. All the drivers that drove there at that time were middle aged men, all smart and courteous. One of the drivers that I got to know some, he got Bette Middler as a passenger and she talked down to him. Told him he wasn't worth a damn. Said she was going to turn him in for being all kinds of terrible. The driver told me the whole story and. that he never had anyone talk down to him. He could not tell why she went off on him.

She went off on him because she’s an obnoxious bitch and she has the money and lawyers to get away with it. The good news is that she’ll almost certainly spend eternity suffering in Hell.

I wonder if a strong RFK Jr. campaign could wake up a critical mass of Dems to what they represented less than 10 years ago.

I Have a big extended family, 20 years ago after 9/11, I was the leftist "true believer" in the family, going to weekly anti-war demonstrations. Learned several foreign languages traveling in my youth, lived overseas 1984-1998, always valued true multiculturalism. Spent my career as an English as a second language teaching immigrant children. Racially mixed marriage. Drive an electric car, have solar panels on my house, grow my own organic food in my garden.

But still, because I voted Trump and now support republicans, none of that matters. I am still in the eyes of leftist family just a crusty old deplorable geezer.

A model leftist of 2010, but not embracing woke, that makes me racist, bigot, homophobic.

My son told me after I bought my EV last year, I would have "leftist street cred". I told him, "you don't get it. Last thing I want."

Right now I'm looking for a bumper sticker that says, "coal powered".

I remember what my Dad said before he retired in early 90's. "Time for me to retire . I'm a dinosaur now. "

I am retiring in 2024.

That's exactly how I feel. Proud and deplorable dinosaur 🦖🦕 !

I never understood the “Blue Check” thing. Because I never installed the twits on my devices.

I guess that it is fine that have never sent a single tweet. I will never be a twit. Enjoy your little piece of hell folks. Personally, I will never be a twit.

But yes… we did read these Dr Suess books to our children and now our to grandchildren. They are good for them and teach simple moral laws. Except for the psycho ecofascist one, the Lorax.

Disney, anything from those Pedophiles at Disney, are banned from our home. Unless they are pre 1970, when either Roy or Walt were still alive, before the Hollywierd freaks ruined the brand with creepy psycho Princess stories and the Pedophiles who destroyed them, folks like Miley Cyrus, Hannah Montana. Now she is a porno queen. This is what Disney does to little girls now. And all the boys are emasculated and pushed into homosexuality.
