Mamdani really is not very smart or he would not write such an inane opinion piece, if he even wrote it at all. For him to contend that the merger will somehow harm journalism and the movie industry has no basis in fact. What IS true, is that the Democrat party and the Leftist control of the propaganda-media was greatly damaged. Good! I can't wait to see the changes that will be made at CNN. Maybe Bari Weiss will be put in charge of cleaning house?
MSM is protesting the banning of 3 outlets from the White House as muzzling the press and is responding by a boycott of all Trump appearances. Turns out there really is a controlling press monopoly out there deciding what Americans are allowed to hear.

Regarding Hollywood, I was kind of looking forward to its demise. There is nothing good about the people or the place, any longer. I imagined rebuilding the movie industry with soundstages in Nashville or Orlando with actors, directors and producers who had ideologies that were representative of the places they lived. But that would have been REALLY expensive, to abandon 100 years of production facilities in Socal. Maybe it can happen slowly and more production will take place outside of CA. Those movie lots can be sold off little by little for the real estate on which they sit. Meantime, the Boomer and GenX media and movie moguls will be leaving their mortal coils. One can only dream.
Socialists like Mamdani, Bernie and AOC lack the intelligence to understand second order effects. That’s why they support 1) rent control, 2) minimum wage and 3) tax the rich to confiscatory levels.
Then they never understand their role in causing the housing crisis, wave of unemployment or yawning budget deficit, when in fact their policies directly caused the problems.
Come to think of it, the "tax the rich" plan was the excuse given to Americans for implementing an unconstitutional federal income tax in 1913. And look what happened...I guess I'm part of the "rich" middle class, because I sure as hell pay the feds!

The NYPost and Fox covered the story, but were dismissed as, fake news. Twitter and Facebook limited the reach of the story.
The consolidation of the empire, though certainly visible in Hollywood, is perhaps most readily observed in late-night "comedy." Maybe there was a gradual decline somewhere in late-night, but it seems almost like the "shit-switch" was flipped overnight, and it may have been around the Obama time frame (2008).
