It took many attempts of trying but I finally got through to tech support via a tangled web of various wrong paths before finally finding the right path.
X, unlike Facebook or Instagroin, will actually respond to complaints. Facebook is as FaceLESS as can be. I’ve been jailed by Facebook at least a half-dozen times. One time, as a test, i posted the phrase “blanco basura” (white trash in Spanish). I posted nothing but those two words and got banned for a month… I tried numerous times to explain and COMplain about what I posted with ZERO response. Zuck is a dick and so is his wife…
The two factor authentication is essentially a digital ID. It ties you to your phone number (which also shows in real time your actual location). If it authenticates using an email it can only use one that is already authenticated to your phone number. So that is what you were up against.
Last night I notified X about that account being an impersonation (yeah, I tagged you and you replied) and today?
BOOM

All kidding aside, thanks for the advice about 2x Authentication. I'm ensuring that my FB and my X accounts etc etc all have it now.

Yep.... legacy happens in about 5 years on the internet. I have changed email addresses for various reasons / businesses I opened and closed at least 5 or 6 times since 1995. There is no way to validate a security question sent to my first 2 or 3 email addresses as they are long gone. I guess we always need to remember to update as many sites as we visit with new email info when we change. But that is likely dozens. No easy task. Sasha, you will likely find you gain many new X.com subscribers due to this episode, me for one. "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger"
