An often forgotten aspect of Trump is that he and his parents were big fans of Norman Vincent Peale. For all his New York roughness Trump is still a positive thinker, and that energy is part of his charisma.
Great observation, plus we as a country need that. Young people have been treated to an unhealthy menu of doom—our identity as “oppressors,” our planet collapsing, atrociously violent entertainment, and much more. You can’t move forward without some degree of positivity, and I do not see that in the Democratic Party at this time,
Truly it is one of his greatest attributes. NVP is an aspirational leader who has changed the lives of millions who needed to regain their self esteem and overcome doubt. This is greatly appreciated.
I think it’s key to who he is. It’s bizarre to think of Trump as some kind of corrupt supervillain. It’s far more likely that Trump is using NVP principles to become a hero.
Agreed. There’s always ways to convince yourself that the negative is there and you need to worry and fret over it. However Peale doesn’t suggest it’s not, just that to worry about it less and not be consumed by the anxiety of future events that will likely not happen as badly as you make it out to be.
I love how you framed this reportage, as a once-blindly loyal anti-Trumper. And I love how you said you still cringe. I'm an Independent since 2007, when I could no longer be that blindly loyal Dem. And Trump makes me cringe on a daily basis! But the bigger picture is, I voted for him all 3 times because he was the better choice each election. When voters can strip off their idealism and realize voting is totally and completely a lesser evil choice and nothing more, maybe we will be able to progress from this political abyss.
I still cringe, but I don't care how it affects the left anymore. I realized that they will condemn him no matter what he does or says. They invent things, if they can't find reasons to hate him. So I enjoy the fact that he openly condemns them. they need it. They've been destroying our country, even if they don't know it.
His strength is that he says what he's going to do, but no one is listening. They hear the sentence that pisses them off. The smirk, the throw away line. He also has the balls to do whatever is required. You know many years ago Hillary said he'd make a great president, because he couldn't be bought. He just doesn't care what people think of him. He does what has to be done. However, I'm over these cease fires. It just gives them time to recoup. And quit saying they're begging for a deal. There is no way. Just get it done.
He is a man for all seasons, and those seasons change around him, not the other way around. "The ebb and flow of the Atlantic Tides, the drift of the continents, the very position of the Sun along its ecliptic; these are just a few of the things I control in my world." - DJT in GI Jane.
He is a thousand times more gracious than Biden ever was to any press, but heir hatred blinds them. Critical thought is gone in this America, at least in the media. And he knows how to rile them up. Should he shut up from time to time? I've given up on that. Since he burst on the scene and every day thereafter, the MSM and every jackhole charity case in Congress - which trickles down to their low-IQ and godless supporters- is to take everything he says literally and ignore what he does. But with someone as senile as Biden, we were instructed to divine the meaning behind his unintelligible ravings, certainly not to take it literally. After all, white literate people are an existential threat to a country built by ... white literate settlers.
So, one day Trump is crazy and stupid. The next day he is playing 4-D chess.
I have had enough trouble with regular chess, and I'm a Mensan. Chess is a hard game no matter whom you play. Sometimes it's even harder if your opponent doesn't know how to play.
4-D chess? Are we in a shop where Dwight Schrute says, "I'll take the Wizard!"
There is no such thing as 4-D chess, unless it's some M.C. Escher print.
I hope and pray that President Trump will live out his term, and that the Secret Service is on top of everything and with hyper-awareness. I was in the Army infantry in OEF. I'm hyper-aware and I am not the POTUS.
America needs Trump, but we also need a successor (democratically elected, ya hear, Democrats? Not appointed like Kamala?)
I think Rubio is the better choice, even though the VP is usually the heir apparent. But I don't think I can trust Vance to not be a welfare-minded individual, big on internal spending and immature on foreign policy. Rubio is simply more intelligent. confidant, and he guarantees all Hispanic votes. He's more articulate and unshaken by any congresswoman/men or any Senator. He is smarter than Donald trump, smarter than Vance, smarter than most. And Sarah Huckabee Sanders should be his VP. Boom.
Rubio’s been a hit all along. Like Sasha, he was smart enough to jump on the Trump train, and he’s done a lot of the heavy lifting in the Cabinet. There is not a naysayer journalist that can outsmart him — and he speaks Spanish. Cubans and many other 3rd and 4th generation immigrants are conservative. If he ran, we’d win.
I'm not convinced that Rubio isn't a RINO. I think Vance is smart enough to know he'll be much better in 8 years, after Rubio. I wouldn't be surprised to see him not run, and maybe be Sec. State under Rubio for 4 years, then perhaps as DNI or Sec. of War. He'd still be young enough to do another 4 or even 8 years in other cabinet positions before running for POTUS. He'd then easily be the most qualified POTUS candidate in history. I like SHS as the VP candidate, and also like Gabbard for that.
In the 2016 debates I watched Rubio and saw a future POTUS. I think his time is now and JD Vance in 2040 maybe.
I agree. And Rubio is amazing to watch. That man is a wizard. Not sure about Huckabee. I like her, just not sure she would sell. And that does have to happen if were realistic. Been wrong before...never thought Manning would play for the Broncos cuz of his Tennessee roots. Fortunately I was dead wrong on that. LOL
I would take either one but would love if it’s Vance as POTUS and he keeps Rubio on as Secretary of State. Not sure if it’s possible but Rubio really shines in that role. He is more of a Warhawk though so I’m wary of him as POTUS. I prefer JD’s more libertarian approach to avoid foreign wars. We should have stuck to precision strikes only. I think Vance has a better chance to win too with that adorable family and Usha would be so attractive to people as potential First Lady.
No Christian Zionists on the ticket. So Sarah can remain at home. Rubio has promise but he’s also short. JD isn’t. I hope the GOP faces Sandy Cortez so the Elephant can beat ladies 3x in the 21st century for POTUS. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Huh? I’m America First, sweetie. No country America operates with ‘gets a pass’ for their behavior because God granted real estate, in antiquity, to that modern nation states’, long ago ancestors. And that is what Christian’s Zionism allows. I support and respect Israel because they maintain strong borders, culture and values I share. But not because of an OT promise. That promise was made to the ancient tribe of Israel only, who were all practicing Jews (Judaism). Many leaders of the modern state of Israel are not in covenant with Yahweh. In fact, the founders of the modern state of Israel were atheists.
Let’s remember two of the dumbest candidates to ever run for president and were tall — John Kerry and Mitt Romney. I’ll take the best candidate anyday —
Actually, TV was a factor but the primary driver of the absolute increase in presidential heights is the broader secular (long-term) rise in average male height due to better nutrition, health, and living standards.
Yes, you might be partially making my point? Height = greater health and vitality.
And any rate, both JD and Rubio are Christians (and Catholics like me) and I see them as Salt and Light and good for leadership in our country. Salt to ‘preserve’ what’s good / righteous and Light to expose that what’s in the dark.
It's statistically significant that taller men tend to win the Presidency (many of our founders were short, but people were shorter then, and also, that was before TV). Stature exudes gravitas. If Rubio ends up running against AOC, who is a moron, it won't be a problem.
Yes, Rubio is next-level intellectually... not sure I have ever seen a Secrty of State with this level of command of the issues, except maybe Kissinger.
But JD is impossibly charming and extremely TV-friendly... with an Indian wife and young kids. That's going to make him very hard to beat.
When my friends and relatives are losing their minds over the last outrageous thing Trump said, and railing at me for voting for him, my response is simple. I just say “if you didn’t want Trump to be president, then don’t tell voters for four years that Joe Biden isn’t cognitively impaired, that his staff can’t keep up with him, that Kamala is brilliant and “brat,” and that handing her the nomination without a primary is protecting democracy. If Trump is Hitler and a fascist, it should have been easy to beat him.
I would also throw in "When you are able to distinguish WTH a woman is, and NOT push for males in females private spaces, and NOT push for spaying and neutering of MINOR CHILDREN, THEN I'll CONSIDER listening to anything you have to say."
Sorry, I don’t remember a time when the country was so politically correct that we were afraid to offend anyone.
I recall a time when only blue collar white guys from the middle of the country could be insulted. The insulters aren’t really liking their comeuppance. 😂
We will sorely miss Trump when he is gone. I hope the idiots tearing maga apart realize we have to be a movement without him, or it’s all over. The aristocracy will return with a vengeance, and they will do everything possible to reproduce the UK here.
The speech wasn’t as funny or as searing as I had hoped. But I marvel that the man even has the energy to stay up that late, let alone give any kind of a public presentation into the evening. His energy was low, and who could blame him for it, considering the variety and magnitude of the problems he faces every day. I give him a mulligan.
I wish they knew what Trump rescued us from. It's so exasperating.
I'm mulling over whether I lost a friend of over forty years when I told her that Trump was most certainly not going to take away her Social Security. She was heading out to protest Trump believing that he would.
Yes. She believed that Trump was taking away her Social Security, and when I assured her that he wasn't, she stopped speaking to me.
The same with the guy who was wailing that Trump was going to kick out our immigrant students. I told him that he was only deporting illegal immigrants. He came after me in a private message for being a terrible person and then cut me off.
Ironically, I started a new teaching job with adults who've been in the country one year and ran into him in the hall. I wanted to say, Hey, Jon, why are there new immigrants here?
When you interact with the ones who are filled with bursting hate for Trump, you have to treat them like mental patients. If you explain something true and reasonable about him, you hope the facts would calm them down, but instead it infuriates them. It’s really crazy, like you’re denying their ego or something. They turn the hate onto you. So to remain friends you have to change the topic.
With the ones who just intensely dislike Trump, I’ve gotten resistance when I point out facts that show they’ve been fed lies, but then they just shake their heads and go quiet. I can only hope I may have opened the door a bit for them to rethink what is true and what’s not. I’m sure it’ll take years for them to see it, if ever.
I think your phrasing was a bit unclear, or maybe you just omitted a word - "...when I told her that Trump in no uncertain terms was going to take away her Social Security." Sounds like you told her that Trump WAS going to take away her social security.
The downfall of social security has been like nuclear fusion - always a decade or two away for the past 40 years. But at some point you do run out of other people's money, the music stops and there are no chairs left... the current forecast is for about when I would start receiving! And what will happen first is that payments will be frozen - no increases. Then they will be reduced. The elderly will suffer, the disability scammers will have to go back to work, and younger people will make new plans expecting nothing. When dependence on SS becomes less, it will no longer be a "third rail" and will be reformed - a safety net just for the truly needy. I might see it if I make 100.
There is an off-color joke I once heard about a man who has issues with his private parts ... he asks a doctor if it will require amputation... and the doctor replies "no need, it will fall off by itself"
That is where we are at with Social Security. Trump won't take it away, but in a few years it will go away all by itself.
Now there's the plot for a dystopian film. A predominantly geriatric population socially engineered to reproduce or not at all with no means of the support taken out of their paychecks all their lives.
Enter assisted suicide.
Such an uplifting plot -- Disney ought to make it since they seem to be into it whole hog.
I know another reason why the left have persecuted you so Sasha, it’s because they lost a masterful writer who now thinks for herself and they just can’t stand it.
A Law often broken by MSM, in King James Version English: “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor” (Exodus 20:16). The MSM stream is drying up. Yours is getting stronger. THANK YOU.
It was funny when they showed the way the crowd cringed...
I got a few good laughs but there were a lot of other jokes in that speech that would've been pretty funny if they were delivered as a joke instead of a brow-beating.
Go back to normal ? Hardly. Their normal was installing a junta and President Autopen. Weaponizing the government against their ever expanding enemies list. F that. And no, they will no look back and chuckle at anything associated with Trump because once he broke the mold of presidential politics, there was no turning back. We need to focus on our lives, our families and our friends.
I remember DJT back in 2015 saying that "Political Correctness" is killing our country...which it was, silently. That was when I decided to vote for him. Now I'm going bass fishing! Yall should try it

The master of cringe has made me laugh more and more as time goes by.

Yeah, Marco would rock the Hispanic GOP vote... maybe landslide numbers...

Rubio can wear lifts like deSantis did.
Let’s remember two of the dumbest candidates to ever run for president and were tall — John Kerry and Mitt Romney. I’ll take the best candidate anyday —
Well known U.S. Presidents 5’8” and under. (There’s more)
James Madison
John Adams
William McKinley
John Quincy Adams
Ulysses S. Grant.
Jimmy Carter (5’9”)
Yes, all but one before the TV was invented. Jimmy Carter was an utter disaster. Please don’t bring his name up again. Thank you
Actually, TV was a factor but the primary driver of the absolute increase in presidential heights is the broader secular (long-term) rise in average male height due to better nutrition, health, and living standards.

it makes me happy when Trump is making people cringe, because it means he's still fucking with them.
Spot on!!!!
Totally his purpose is to drive them crazy.
It is hilarious how many people are genuinely upset about the Trump 2028 hat. He should probably wear it all the time.
He definitely should! It just puts another of the MSMs stupid lies about him out there, front and center for all to see.
I wish they knew what Trump rescued us from. It's so exasperating.
I'm mulling over whether I lost a friend of over forty years when I told her that Trump was most certainly not going to take away her Social Security. She was heading out to protest Trump believing that he would.

Fixed it. Thanks. Trump NOT taking away Social Security.
Just got my first “benefit payment” hope not!!!!
Ask this nitwit 'friend' if she can FIND EVEN ONE EXAMPLE of DJT posting or saying he was going to take away SS.
In fact (as I imagine you know) he has repeatedly said the OPPOSITE.
The downfall of social security has been like nuclear fusion - always a decade or two away for the past 40 years. Underdog, your comment reads as if it was certain that Trump was going to take away your friend’s Social Security.
OK. I mean that Trump was not going to take away her Social Security. That is certain.
The libs are offended by the truth.
