I don't really care what other people lime or don't like on the right side. If a person can't vote AGAINST the Democrats and their insanity and their call to trade our freedom for the safety of their cult, good riddance. I voted FOR Trump 2024. I will vote AGAINST Democrats because I'm afraid to even have grandchildren come into this hellhole the Dems want for my children. If citizens can't hold their nose and do that, I guess we all deserve what's coming and it is coming.

steven t koenig's avatar

I'm ready, however it turns out. But I'm 70 and it's not gonna affect me much, at least not for long. I think I raised my kids right. I wish them luck

Brandy's avatar

This is how I think, too. My husband and I are young Genxers so I am not worried about us much and I know we raised our boys (men now) correctly, but i can't imagine what this place will look like in 20 years and that's terrifying.

steven t koenig's avatar

I suspect the country will break apart in those 20 years. What it looks like afterward? Depends who you side with in the divorce I imagine

Brandy's avatar

Well, I reckon I'll be siding with the people who have the ship construction, naval bases, Fort Knox even if it's probably empty, the food, the fuel, the guns, the ammo, and the good sense God gave a goose.

Orwell’s Rabbit's avatar

I think people your age should be extremely worried about your future under a socialist/Marxist government. Two decades of heavy spending on “identity”-based social programs would leave the government bankrupt, the economy in tatters, private property (possibly) abolished. It’s hard enough to be old; being old AND impoverished is no way to live out the last years of your life!

Fred Richmond's avatar

I'm 78. My wife and I have a relatively short runway left, so I think we'll get through.

My beautiful grandkids? I fear deeply about their future.

I never in a million years would've dreamed this situation, never. I'm a Dinah Shore American:: "America is the greatest land of all!" (But, I've never owned a Chevy 🫪)

steven t koenig's avatar

Did not see this coming, even 10 years ago. I think Covid and George Floyd opened up a fault line we aren't capable of mending.

I owned a Chevy once but it was so long ago I can't remember what color it was

Fred Richmond's avatar

I think it predates COVID and George Floyd, though I think Floyd revved it up.

I'm not confident it's fixable. The split is too deep and wide and the malefactors live and move freely among us and are supported by the Democrat party.

Tom Potts's avatar

Me as well, also 70.

Jason Garshfield's avatar

As a Jew I am not obligated to vote for the party of Tucker Carlson. I supported Trump in the past, did nothing to deserve this wave of vicious hatred from my own side but now I am expected to fall in line for a guy who regularly platforms Nazis who hate me for existing, and who got up at Charlie Kirk’s funeral and insinuated the Jews killed him. Enough. I am not falling in line. Any party that has Tucker in it is not my party. Good luck in 2028.

Edwin Schindler's avatar

As a Jew, I can confidently say that no Jew can vote for the Jew-hatred of the modern Democrat Party. Tucker Carlson claims to no longer be a Republican, but, whether or not Carlson is a Republican, I cannot see how that could, or should, affect my vote in 2028.

As for J.D. Vance, he's a smart guy, but not as smart as he thinks. I tend to doubt that he believes what Tucker Carlson believes, but Vance is trying to be all things to all people, and that strategy is difficult to successfully make work. J.D. is likely to find that he will be required to make choices in 2028.

The one thing J.D. Vance has going for him is that the 2028 presidential election like almost all elections, is binary. Vote for Vance, if he's the presidential candidate, or don't vote at all; the party of Zohran Mamdani, Abdul el-Sayed, Hasan Piker, AOC exemplifies today's Democrat Party and that's not an option under any scenario.

Garland Remington III's avatar

I’m not a republican. But I have no other party to vote for. I damn sure wouldn’t vote for the communistic Democrat party. But as far as I’m concerned, the vast majority of the Republicans in both houses are not worth a shit. They’re not.

mk's avatar

I feel the same. I don't care if JD Vance is friends with Tucker, but I do care if he won't disavow his views and make them clear they are not his views.

I think the party would do much better with Marco Rubio at this point.

The problem is while I don't want to vote for the party of Tucker Carlson I also don't want to vote for the party that is 100% for Hamas. I'm wondering if it is starting to feel like 1939 for us.

JJoshua's avatar

I really like Rubio. Much more than Vance

Dana Gilmour's avatar

I like both. Don't believe Tucker has political power of yore. Trump has willingly expended Amerivan blood and billions of $ worth of munitions running parallel attacks with IAF against Iran. What he does is what counts.

Matt L.'s avatar

Stop spreading misinformation? Tucker is not a member of the GOP.

Jason Garshfield's avatar

Then the 2028 GOP nominee should have no problem denouncing him.

Last I checked, the 2028 primary hasn’t started. JD might not even be the nominee. Keep an eye on DeSantis.

Gail W's avatar

DeSantis is my Gov and we LOVE him, but as we even saw when he ( foolishly) primaried DJT, he is a TERRIBLE candidate. In fact I’d say he’s as BAD of a CANDIDATE, as he is GREAT of an EXECUTIVE. Nope, I see Marco with his BILINGUALISM and anti communist cred and his very quick on his feet sense of humor as who I’d want at the top of the ticket.

I’d love DeSantis as VP or as Marco’s Sec State, but not as a candidate in ‘28.

He is young. He can ‘season’ for another cycle or two. 😊

Stella’s pop's avatar

I completely understand the antipathy for Carlson. He’s lost me as well.

I don’t understand how that antipathy translates to voting for a party that embraces abortion (now beyond birth), genital mutilation of children, open borders, BLM (whose platform is destruction of the nuclear family and patriarchy…), euthanasia, Medicare for All (which opens the door further for state mandates over individual health care decisions…), an education system bent on the destruction of individual agency, amplifying the social conditions of our cities to being open air prisons, looting the treasury for the climate control fraud that is a proven scourge to the environment, etc.

Why?

Because your feelings are hurt by Tucker Carlson of all people? Carlson’s busy lighting matches after pouring gasoline over himself. This may come as a shock, maybe even news to you, but JD’s biggest sponsors were and are Jews.

Buck up buttercup and look around.

The Democrats do not see Judaism (which they conflate as Zionism) in their future. Just look at their newfound embrace of Islam and Communism.

Politics makes for strange bedfellows.

There’s ample strangeness out there.

Some are already telling you they want to kill you. Believe them.

SR's avatar

I don't think that most of the comments are saying that they will vote for an unarguably worse Dem party, its about Vance who isn't even running yet. My concerns over him aren't stopping me from voting GOP this fall.

Gail W's avatar

It’s FAR from a foregone conclusion that JD will be the nominee in ‘28!

#1. ONLY FOUR VPs have won the presidency directly after serving as VP.

#2. If JD doesn’t correct his antisemitic overtones, do we really believe that DJT, WHO HAS JEWISH GRANDCHILDREN (and daughter) won’t back a different successor?

#3. MARCO has been performing magnificently and has ALL the statesmanship and clever humor of Reagan, plus a lot more maturity than JD has. Personally as a Jewish MAGA voter since 2016, I’m hoping for a RUBIO-DESANTIS ticket (Rubio can declare DC or VA as his domicile)

Tom Potts's avatar

Bingo…. 🏆

Unwoke in Idaho's avatar

Tuckers not a Republican anymore. One guy does not make a party anyway.

But you do you. Vote for the democrats who March for Gaza and laud Muslims who want to destroy America and Jews.

Jason Garshfield's avatar

Glad to know Tucker isn’t a Republican. It should be an easy matter, then, for any 2028 Republican candidate to denounce him.

Unwoke in Idaho's avatar

And when we start having the 2028 election, then you can moan. But good heavens dude, let’s get through the midterms first and then have a respite.

Bill Bradford's avatar

NO Republican candidate NEEDS to "denounce" him, except in your mind....why are you so "denounce-y"?....what's the attraction? What wounded place in your soul is salved by denouncing people? You gonna organize a Chairman Mao struggle session to oust Tucker, or something?....

MarrHar's avatar

So you will hand the country to El Sayed and his ilk.

buzz's avatar

Exactly. Folks that won't vote Republican because the candidates aren't perfect should think hard about the alternative. I'm not a Republican, nor am I a democrat, but deciding to keep Republicans/conservatives in office rather than the straight-up demons the left is fielding is a no-brainer

Jason Garshfield's avatar

“Vote for the Nazis or the communists will get in” is not a message that will get me to the polls. It is callow blackmail.

"Jason": Hilarious. Nice trolling, bot.

dan brandt's avatar

It doesn't mean to be said. Pay attention, you already know who they are and how they want to destroy this country and start anew.

Biden and theDems already tried and failed miserably. Was the lesson learned?

Ken Macko's avatar

No ! It doesn’t look like one bit.

dan brandt's avatar

It's not an either or. Frame it that way and it becomes a loss.

mk's avatar

The problem is that it is an either or. One of the two sides will win the election. I just don't know what to do. I can't vote for the left, but the right is no great shakes either at the moment.

dan brandt's avatar

The GOP has a few that can prove capable and attrative to a lot more independants. And independats are the ones who decide elections.

The socialists have yet to have a record on how they run things. It can be assumed they will be worse than the "regular" Dems. What may be the best that happens to this country is put more of elect a few more of them and let them tank themselves. Bases are not relevent in deciding elections. Only none partisans.

buzz's avatar

"The socialists have yet to have a record on how they run things." WHAT? You're either a Chinese bot, or you've just not been paying attention to the recent centuries of communist/socialist rulers. There is no doubt of the track record of that ilk: Extreme corruption and poverty, chaos, violence, destruction, and death.

dan brandt's avatar

If they had any idea of what you are talking about, they most likely would not be supporting the socialist/Communist in this country. These are not worldly wise individuals. Not educated but indoctrinated. Know your enemy or fail.

Nichola Winney's avatar

What f’ing planet do you live on?!

Tom Potts's avatar

TC is not GOP. Where else would you go Jason? The Dems are ordering the Zyklon B now.

Donna's avatar

Tucker has said he is no longer a Republican.

Dena's avatar

Tucker left the Republican Party awhile ago. He’s no conservative & he’s certainly not MAGA. He’s a phony & a liar. He’s taken up with MTG & Massie to name a few other phonies. I don’t believe any of them are a threat. I’m watching Vance, his not speaking up when Tucker calls for Trump’s impeachment & his support of El Said is troubling. He can do that without breaking up a friendship. I will not have a problem with voting for Rubio if he runs.

Suzie's avatar

Good luck with the Democrats who want you dead.

Richard Comer's avatar

JD has questions he must answer: Does he think Israel has been giving orders to Trump, or does he think it’s the other way around? What does he know? Does Trump trust him to know all that’s going on in the conduct of the war? How will President Vance change America’s war objectives? What will he do with the tariffs? And many more. . .Straightforward answers will go a long way toward building or deconstruction of the GOP coalition.

David Parker's avatar

Tucker Carlson is not a Republican. Trump has already told him he wasn't welcome but Tucker had already flown the coop.

Jason Garshfield's avatar

That’s great to hear! I’m sure the 2028 nominee will have no problem denouncing him. Since, you know, he isn’t a Republican.

Garland Remington III's avatar

Who are all the Nazi that Tucker Carlson platform? I’ve got nothing against the citizens of Israel. I’ve been to Israel. Several times. But it’s high time that we started taking care of the United States first and foremost.

reel life's avatar

The mideast is of vital strategic importance to the US and the Western world. The US gives billions to Jordan, Egypt and others. We have around 20 bases in various Arab countries so that Iran/Russia does not take over all the resources and land. Israel serves our strategic interests. Yes, America first, and we continue to decide what to do, no one else decides.

NotFromTexas's avatar

One's friends are one's own business. That Tucker has any influence on Vance is a huge assumption. Does Vance have no influence on Tucker?

Those who demand that he publicly "stand up" to Tucker are requiring nothing short of a litmus test.

It's unnecessary, and sad.

Dutchmn007's avatar

All this hand-wringing over a commentator is utterly ridiculous.

Get over it people.

Gail W's avatar

That would be one thing but JD himself has made some VERY troubling comments. In addition to which I just don’t think he has the maturity to be able to have a seasoned perspective.

NotFromTexas's avatar

I respectfully disagree.

Jack Walker's avatar

It’s true; America is in a world of hurt right now. There are many on the right that are divided. Greene and Massie seem more interested in tearing down their own side than in strengthening the country. They are trying to burn us down. Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens are a severe disappointment. It’s all about them.

I truly do not believe many people are thinking clearly. Either they do not understand the consequences of what they are doing, or they simply do not care. In time, those consequences will become impossible to ignore.

But we also need to step back and consider the larger picture.

If you believe in God—and I do—then you understand that America’s blessings have ultimately come from Him. Our country has been in a moral and spiritual freefall for years because we have turned our backs on God. Our laws increasingly reflect what we truly believe and what we are willing to tolerate.

We cannot expect God to continue blessing a nation that refuses to honor Him. I believe we are experiencing His judgment.

The choice before us is clear: we can continue down this destructive road, or we can repent and turn from our wicked ways. America’s deepest problem is not merely political—it is spiritual.

It may cost JD the Republican Presidential nomination. Fortunately, we have Marco Rubio!

The Leftwing media, and some Republican Never Trumpers, are in a feeding frenzy over Tucker Carlson, exaggerating his influence and trying to use him as a wedge to divide Trump voters from those who favored the fading Republican Establishment. If you fall for this ruse, you are only playing into the hands of Democrats who disdain American and Israeli Jews. You are under a misapprehension that J.D. Vance is a "friend" of Tucker Carlson, when all Vance said is that nothing good will come from censoring his views.

Your efforts would be better directed toward persuading American Jews like Ben Cohen of Ben & Jerry's to change their opinion of Israel. Ben Cohen and Tucker Carlson talked like long lost friends in Tucker Carlson's view. I found Ben Cohen an amiable and engaging sort of that peculiar breed I call the Libertarian Liberal, in the tradition of Ralph Nader, who love small business but distrust corporations. But I do not agree with his or Tucker Carlson's opinion that Israel is the bad guy, not when Israelis were slaughtered in ways even worse than the Nazi Holocaust.

Best thing to say about Tucker Carlson is nothing. Let him fade away riding his own bad ideas. The more you pile into him, the more people are going to watch him to see what the controversy is about. Remember, you're talking about a man who claimed to be "attacked by demons" while sleeping in bed with his four dogs. If he was attacked by anything, it was fleas and ticks.

John F Reinhard Jr's avatar

I liked JD Vance's comments on his friendship with Tucker. A functioning democracy depends on the free exchange ideas. The rising intolerance of opposing viewpoints threatens it.

reality speaks's avatar

JD is right this is what Charlie Kirk was doing and it’s the way to win going forward. Tucker has lost his way or maybe he never was honest to begin with. His doom and gloom if her keeps pushing it will guarantee that the Democrats will win in a sweeping victory in 2028 and they will finally take advantage of that victory to destroy what we all love the American experiment.

Matt L.'s avatar

My guess (and I could be wrong) is that Tucker is taking $ money from non disclosed sources. And this small ‘g’ god ($) is behind his change.

reality speaks's avatar

I don’t buy into that theory. It would to easy for it to be discovered and he doesn’t need it to begin with.

Jen Todd's avatar

What exactly is the dem party platform? Weak and feckless leadership? It's neutered itself on behalf of "hate Trump". The people you think are influencing something are irrelevant to most people. The whinning and perpetual hysteria are boring. Who's confused about the tragic tantrum we've been subjected to for almost 12yrs? Covid, BLM, trans...every ridiculous and absurd thing...I haven't forgotten who's responsible and I don't suspect most people with a modicum of consciousness have forgotten either.

Lee Huey's avatar

I wouldn't worry too much even if the senate and house went democrat. Trump would veto most "wacky" legislation. The problem area would be if the presidency is lost in 2028. Right now I see no one on the democrat side beating Vance or Rubio, or DeSantos. Shaperio would be a threat, but he is Jewish and has little chance of gaining the nomination with the large preponderance of antisemitism in the democrat party. He supports Israel. The democrats have another problem. They are starting to go after Fetterman who I think will go the independent route and caucus with the republicans. Just an outside chance but it could be enough to keep the senate in republican hands.

Jeff G's avatar

If K had picked Shapiro instead of Walz (who has zero stage presence), she might have won. Probably not, but it’s way more likely. But among current Dems just being Jewish is enough: no matter what you say about events on the ground, you have that asterisk by your name. There seems to still be a lot of talk about Kamala in 28. Seems crazy to me, but here we are.

Carlson, had the highest rated show on Fox and was kicked to the curb. Carlson had to make a living, so he reverts to grifting and click bait.

It’s easy to hate Israel. It’s easy to cowtow to Qatar and other Middle Eastern nations.

He lost all credibility many months ago.

Him supporting El Sayed is just being a clown now.

Carlson has no credibility.

I like Vance. He needs to stay away.

The greatest threat to America is Islam. Same as Europe. The extreme volcanic eruption of vast amounts of cash blasting out of the Persian gulf is funding the conquest of the west. Mosques, madrassas, corruption of our legal systems, and corruption of our universities and media moguls. Qatar is leading the assault. Iran will loose to the US navy and treasury embargoes and then the muslim monarchies will step up their invasion . Woke idiot women have no defenses. It would be so easy for the GOP to destroy the democrats, in the mid-terms and the next several presidential elections. The GOP could literally do nothing, and let the left destroy itself.

But that's apparently not in the cards. Like Tucker's support of El-Sayed, and so many others who it seemed were at one point on the right, they are actively rooting for the left.

Leaders on every side are just jockeying for seats in the lifeboat.

And that is the goal. Come together and win. all this personallitiyt crap is ared herring. Who cares what influencers say. Their sold to the highest bidder. Talking heads like Tucker were left a llng time ago by those of us who watched him on Fox. Same for Candice and Megan. Why should we believe Halperin when his show is on the Megan channel? Can't he suport his own channel? Don't lose sight of the prize Sasha. Don't get sucked down the distraction of personalities.
