I am a small farmer. I have a self-serve farmstand with an honor box. By popular demand I added a Paypal option. People who use that don't know that Paypal takes a bite of the money
You can ask your PayPal users to send the money via “friends and family option“, rather than classifying it as a purchase from a business. This avoids the fees entirely, but doesn’t provide them with an easy refund process. From a farm stand, though, they are choosing their own produce, so I think the refund issue is entirely moot.
I think most people do know but what can they do about it if they don't have cash to leave? You might have a sign suggesting they leave an extra dollar or whatever to cover the PayPal fees.
As an elderly person I'm keeping this for future reference😍😍😍
You continue to have nice reminders of how to support your work. Thanks!
I assume Substack takes a cut of your subscriptions? How much? Do they also get a piece of tips?
That’s a really good question.

Color me naive, but I didn't know
Hi Sasha, I also have left tips before but last week I had the same problem. I always enjoy your writing. Thank you!
I show my gratitude for your outstanding writing by having an annual subscription.
