Answer: Irish step dancing, which evolved into clogging in Appalachia. Clogging went on to influence tap.

Just one more example of the silliness of those accusations of "cultural appropriations".

I shudder when I think of anyone attempting to abolish the Electoral College. That would be the end of our Constitutional Republic. It's a means for the least-populated states (flyover states) to have a say in the Presidential election. Without it, Presidential candidates would need only concentrate on the population centers to gain the popular vote. Those states that supply food, energy, consumer products, etc, for the cities, would be at the mercy of the city's voters who are not very aware of how all those products come to their door. Taxation without representation was a reason we revolted against King George III. People seem to be ignorant of the reason for the Electoral College - that it has somehow stopped being useful. When you hear that argument, you are likely not listening to someone who prefers our republic. In other words, a Democrat. Beware!
