I was a paid subscriber of Tucker's but I have dumped him and I used to admire Candace but no longer. Both of them keep hammering on about the same things and I am beyond tired of the Trump is bad and the Jews run the world schtick.

This Tucker reader comments go straight to the sycophancy that Tucker demands of his followers. This idea that the "war with Iran. (Which the U.S. is losing.)", is ridiculous. That is what Democrats lie about to try and hurt a political opponent. No one who knows a thing about conflict thinks America is "losing the war". How is that even possible? Iran's leadership and military are decimated (300-400 deep, the equivalent of all top offices in America, including all of the Congress). Their economy is in shambles. That is not "WINNING" by any definition. It is LOSING in a big way. Trump / America won the easy part, the military and economic part where America holds all the cards. The hard part, that was really not even on the agenda for Trump for good reason, is regime change. That is a requirement to completely dominate including occupation. And that is VERY hard to do in the Muslim world, which operates under tyranny by the design of that religion, where religious leaders / mullahs, have the upper hand in tradition and where freedom, democracy and secular elections are literally, a foreign concept. This was the George W Bush mistake, thinking that Iraq and Afghanistan could ever be anything like the European west. Iran / Persia is nothing like Europe and never has been

Dennis Slatton's avatar

If the Persians (which are by far the majority of the Iraqi population) had a gun or two and the right leader to point the way, this whole shebang would end much more quickly. They are not Muslims and have never professed to be. It still bothers me that the radical Muslim fundamentalists were even ever able to gain power in 1979.

Roger Beal's avatar

I have a vivid memory of watching TV news in 1979, and seeing Ayatollah Khomeini boarding an airliner in Paris to fly to Tehran ... and thinking to myself, where are the sharpshooters? Who is letting this happen? Can these western fools not understand history?

Gary W.'s avatar

President Carter had issues with the Shah of Iran over 'human rights violations' and withdrew US support for him, and if I remember correctly supported the mullahs taking power. We could have avoided many problems if Carter had not done this.

True... I thought there would be a plan to arm the secular population in Iran and Iraq. There was talk of the Kurds doing just that, but the Turks opposed giving the Kurds that role, and all the armaments to handle. Turkey is still a NATO "ally" and so Trump really wasn't able to use that route. But there must be others. Pakistan is not reliable. Air drops could work since Iran has almost no air defenses at this point. But where, and who would lead? France had this role with America during our own Revolutionary War. They armed Americans with small arms and ammunition, as well as holding off the British Navy at sea. Gen. Lafayette helped lead the insurgency. The Duponts, who likely supplied gunpowder moved by ship during the Revolution, even relocated to Delaware in 1802 to make gunpowder for the colonists.

Iranian population. Not Iraqi population.

Oh please. Carlson demands nothing except in your own mind.

I loved Tucker and Meghan and liked Candace. They are all bat shit crazy now. Tucker reminds me of what happened to Glenn Beck. They just lose it - probably because of ego. It is truly sad the lengths they'll go to to marginalize themselves to make money. The Israel stuff is preposterous...and the hard core Muslims are incredibly evil.

Juliann's avatar

Did you really mean to say Glenn Beck? Seems like it should be Glenn Greenwald - just asking out of curiosity.

As the great Andrew Klavan explains regularly Antisemitism is the devil’s flagpole. It always rears its ugly head wherever evil is afoot. Today’s Andrew Klavan Show 7/10 (out every Friday) as always, is worth a listen for some much needed perspective in this regard. Always a brilliant analysis of the quagmire du jour.

Ditto on all counts.

I was also a real supporter of both Candace and Tucker. They are really lost and I haven't the energy to try and find out why, but I agree with your sentiments on it 100%.

To be more specific, "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out." That's how I learned it.

Frankly, I think your doing a great job! And to your point - Free thinking- is about discerning what the problem is by exploring outward concentric circles from oneself. Sometimes cold hard truth hurts. And if one is having difficulty with that, this is where discernment begins with oneself and then increasingly larger outward concentric circles.

Brandy's avatar

Here's my entire problem with this reader or any other who wants to leave. Go ahead. You don't need to announce it, BUT IF YOU DO...and you are dumb enough to say things like, "The United States is losing its war against Iran," I am unwilling to mourn your loss to a community or even consider your case because you have shown yourself to be badly led by dis, mis, and malinformation. Why would anyone miss you? We don't need liars in these spaces. Idiots either.

MJ's avatar

My brain was holding similar thoughts but couldn’t organize them as well as you have. Thanks for the clear response I couldn’t seem to come up with. We definitely don’t need liars or idiots around here, there are enough of them in other spaces and I’m glad to have found a semi-escape here.

Brandy's avatar

Exactly right. Glad it helped.

ScottyG's avatar

Especially idiots. The left abounds in them, go join that flock.

Losing readers like that is just fine. Good riddance. Tucker? Egomaniacal jerk who has lost all his credibility and sense of reality. Good riddance to him too (and Candace).

Timothy G McKenna's avatar

Too bad - he used to be must-see-TV for me, especially during the Kavanagh hearings. He’s just gone now - bat$h!t crazy

BradK (Tuckered out)'s avatar

We used to love watching his long form interview show back on the Fox streaming channel. The range of guests he had on was superb. I have no idea what ate his brain between then and now, but this is not the same Tucker of 5 years ago. Hell, even during the 2024 election he was still rational.

Northstar 29's avatar

In what world do they also lose their total sense of humility? Do they really believe you can lie about positions for monetary gain and there not be any repercussions to their character and reputation? They are unable to look in the mirror.

Mark In Houston's avatar

Tucker has lost his way - and Candace is beyond help. You’re right to call them out Sasha! Lose a few subscribers- your integrity is worth far more.

Brian DeLeon's avatar

I don’t understand people who write to a Substack author to inform them they’re canceling their paid subscription. If you no longer wish to subscribe to someone’s column, just cancel it and move on. Why is an editorial necessary, other than to rub it in the face of the author.

I canceled my subscription to Matt Taibbi when he took a different direction with his Substack and he lost his longtime podcast partner Walter Kirn. I didn’t fire off an angry missive to Matt, I just quietly quit the subscription. He probably didn’t notice anyway, since he has thousands of subscribers.

Sasha, I don’t always agree with you, but you are consistent, honest, and courageous, and also a very gifted writer. I’ll be sticking around for a while.

Brian M's avatar

Could not believe how Taibbi went from a reasonable, Truth-seeker to a crazed anti-American Leftist. I stopped listening to a thing he had to say

Jjule's avatar

Narcissism is now a virtue.

Writing like that has the stink of, I’m so important, and I need to tell you that.

This speaks to the subscriber's need to be heard, to overcome their own low self-esteem. Tucker has thousands of followers like this. They are his army

Gitch's avatar

Lol, ya know why? Portraying themselves as a VICTIM. Oh feel bad for me you hurt my feelings with your writing!

I also cancelled Taibbi and picked up Sasha.

I was a huge Tucker fan until his discourse seemed to no longer be rooted in RATIONAL THOUGHT.

Jim's avatar

Even back when I liked Tucker, I always hated that stupid fake laugh that he uses.

Ted A's avatar

Right, I put up with that asinine laughter for years. Now that the mind behind it has melted down, good riddance. Candace never had a mind, and Megyn is nothing more than a slightly less crazy mind-crash than Carlson.

Donn Sottolano's avatar

Yes, haven't listened to him for so long I forgot about the 'laugh'. Honestly, I have always thought it was a nervous tic so I've never made fun of it.

Why people think that Iran wouldn’t demonstrate that they have nuclear weapons by first testing it over Israel is a mystery to me.

JimInNashville's avatar

Your question cuts to the heart of one aspect of the debate over Iran policy. The assumption on the part of some correspondents is that Israel would be in mortal danger, and that, for some reason, Iran would nuke Israel as soon as they had a nuke. Yet Israel has had dozens of nukes for decades. North Korea has them. India and Pakistan have them. My best guess is that Iran would never dare start a war with Israel even if they had a nuke. what we’ve now proven to Iran is that they actually would have been better off with a nuke.

Carol Jones's avatar

Not sure about that. You are assuming that if Iran had a weapon they wouldn’t use it against Israel. You are assuming all the players are rational, not extremely radical to a point of funding world wide terrorism and inserting radical terrorists within countries. Iran has (3rd level as Trump likes to say) CLERICAL jihadists running the country whose religion sees everyone as someone to be dominated or killed. Read the history. Go to Spain and see the Museums. Then tell me Iranian or any other muslim clerical leaders are rational.

Brian M's avatar

The Ayatollah SAID he was going to Nuke Israel and America as soon as he could. When someone with that power and authority threatens you, declares you the Great Satan and that Israel is the Little Satan, and the cost of being wrong is millions of innocent lives, the leaders of those countries are obligated to believe the Ayatollah and do something about it. You could doubt they can pull it off. But they are allied with China which has the technology and apparently was selling it to Iran. How do you think NoKo got the bomb? You think they have thousands of MIT trained physicists there? China gave it to them to protect its eastern flank

Ted A's avatar

A rational society like Israel (fortunately) has a nuclear deterrent. Iran is utterly irrational and fanatical. This is a good example of the asymmetrical relationships that exist in the world. It's always been like this, but in the 21st Century things happen quite quickly.

Barb Allen's avatar

Well - blessings on you Sasha.... I have gone through the same evolutions as you, so can relate... But YOU write about it.... That is courageous. I'm 87 and started losing the few friends I had left as well as family members, because of my shifting beliefs and support of Trump... so pretty much shut up about my opinions. So you are my voice :-) and it's a relief to read you expressing my feelings about things.

I don't understand people who are so fickle in their support of Trump. He is way far from perfect - but aren't we all? I just believe in his honest desire to make things better for Americans and the world - and know that he is working against forces we know nothing about sometimes - like the entrenched bureaucracy in all the govt. agencies who fight him every step of the way. But he is making progress and I am so grateful that there is finally someone (along with RFK jr. and others in his admin) that is trying to make some sensible change in the direction things were going! Wahoo!

I think you know by now that you speak for a lot of folks out there - so hang in there and keep up the good work. You make my day most days that you write! Thanks!

Carol Jones's avatar

Those who are fickle on Trump I believe connect for maybe one or two of his policies but don’t really understand the overarching intention of what he is doing, ie they like the trees but don't see the forest. I am a Canadian and I believe he is freeing the US- making it a sovereign nation again (ended at FDR) not beholden to other nations— primarily Britain who has been making big revenue off and controlling the US (banking, foreign policy- wars) for years.

Huge topic which Promethean Action (is on X, website and other social media) is way better qualified than me to give you the history. The killing of US presidents, the control of interest rates, money, Fed, the Civil War etc. Its all there backed up with receipts. I highly recommend them to all Americans.

Barb Allen's avatar

Thanks for mentioning them, Carol. I follow them and am grateful for their viewpoints and knowledge from years of following world affairs. I too recommend them.

Quote from God regarding Israel in Genesis 12:3: "I will bless those who bless you and whoever curses you I will curse."

Jjule's avatar

FYI. That’s Old Testament. Not relevant for today.

Israel now is a City of London created chaos manufacturer for the Middle East.

I’m not anti Jewish, But the narrative of Save Israel because the Old Testament talks about the people, is a Cof L strategy.

Susan Vonder Heide's avatar

It is relevant for today, very relevant. It is true that Jewish ceremonial laws in the Old Testament are not mandatory for Christians today, but core things like the Ten Commandments and God's love for Israel are very much relevant. God has not abandoned the Jewish people as a thorough reading of the Bible in its entirety clearly reveals.

Ted A's avatar

Try to forget about old Testaments and Kurans or Korans. It's about rabid anti-infidel maniacs attempting full world domination. That movement needs to be crushed.

Carol Jones's avatar

But so is Iran a City of London proxy (Lloyds of London and UK banks profit) so …...

Dan Bouchard's avatar

I just wish we’d stop funding other countries and focus on us. This is really the only anti-Israel thing I hold onto. Let’s stop funding everyone else and focus on the homeland.

Ted A's avatar

Non-support of Israel (not to mention the growing hatred of Israel) is how the U.S. plays into the desires of Islamofascism and yes, Communism. Mamdani's huge election win and continued popularity are strong indicators of ugly times ahead.

Carol Jones's avatar

Except that Islam’s goal is to convert, enslave/dominate every other religion. As a female reading the Rape Gang Inquiry done in the UK to reveal the extent of this domination and understand why it is happening— we just need to read history. Read about the Barbary Coast slavery gangs, read about the conquering of the Spanish in times past. Its a very Fabian process— wolf in sheep's clothing. Thing is NOW we see it and know it is there. It will be dealt with. Wait

Ted A's avatar

I assume you meant for your comment to be a response to Dan. Must be, as you have echoed and provided expanded references to my own concerns. I just hope your optimism is well-founded.

Carol Jones's avatar

lol- thanks Dad

Ted A's avatar

Sure, the U.S. has helped keep Israel from destruction. In turn Israel, (yes Benjamin and his predecessors) have helped temper the pace of the Islamic drive to dominate the world and eliminate Kafir from the planet. You should appreciate that.

I laugh and laugh at anyone who thinks Trump is "losing" the war with Iran, or that this 47-year conflict is a "new war." I feel pity for those fans of Tucker who followed him over his personal waterfall; I just waved goodbye as he went over the edge without a paddle or even a canoe.
