I don't hate the left. At some level, "hate" implies some measure of respect. I despise them. I'm contemptuous of them. Sometimes I'm even amused by them. But I don't hate them. I don't respect them enough for that.

Jeff Keener's avatar

You see, it's their moral vanity that makes the left so contemptible.

I was at a (virtual) party recently with some incredibly smart guys. You might even have heard of one or two of them if you’ve been in tech for a long time. Sadly, their political attitudes were just embarrassing. Things I heard: MAGA is a cult, Trump is corrupt, he doesn’t plan or really do anything, just grubs for money. He’s never built a skyscraper, he just buys real estate in dodgy deals. The big problem facing the country is all the bad information brainwashing the ignorant MAGA types into believing lies. There’s no election fraud, it’s a myth, like Haitian eating cats. Also, Trump might decide to not leave office in 2028.

I have ALWAYS been conservative. I was born this way to my Army dad. I can be open-minded socially (not to a crazy degree like the Progressives), but am financially conservative and always have been. So, for those dicks who want to boo the Leader of our country, F*ck yourselves. You are expressing your hatred of America when you boo a pro-American President. I never booed Obama or Biden, though I hated what they did to America. I respected the office. What kind of People undermine their own country and that of their neighbors, families and friends. All you do is make our nation weaker and less safe and less wealthy. You all know where you can go.

For about ten years I’ve been asking how do I find common ground with people who want to talk about sex with kindergartners, pay “reparations” to people who weren’t slaves from people who didn’t own one, who want to limit my shower to a short one twice a week, force mass transit and property rental for shelter (except for them,) peddle the notion that gender is fluid, that there are 70 something genders, man made up climate change “science” is settled, and America is systemically racist. Not to mention the unbridled hatred they exhibit toward those with whom they disagree. The list could go on. They are certifiable kooks and I can never imagine sitting down to write public policy with the mentally ill left.

They are just awful. Hate hate hate hate. And then, deflect and project.

Mad Dog's avatar

I just want to make sure I have this straight. You don't like them much, do you?

Bat Man's avatar

I wish she wouldn't sugar coat it so much.

Shelly947's avatar

I meant them with the hate 😜

I don’t hate them.

I think it was a Kyle Rittenhouse meme (quoting Game of Thrones?) phrasing this best:

Your boos mean nothing; we've seen what makes you cheer.

Boom! That says it all in a nutshell!

It’s a Rick and Morty reference.

This is the most predictable story of the year. I'm sure Trump knew it would happen and couldn’t care less.

Lisa Ricketts's avatar

Still, it had to be somewhat demoralizing as he is a life long New Yorker, born and raised. He put his heart and soul into that city and a ton of capital! He was always a cheerleader for the city and an ambassador. I'm a Californian and I've known of Donald Trump since the 1980's.

My heart aches for his granddaughter, as she has to see and hear how selfish and awful these creatures truly are. It reminds me of being a child and seeing the Riots and protests at UC Berkeley, and being afraid of hippies, and the Manson Family murderers, etc.

Even as a child, I could tell that they were all the same kind of self-centered good for nothing parasites, having adult temper tantrums, much like the ones my younger brother would throw when he wanted something that did not belong to him.

I also didn’t vote for Trump I voted against the Demoncrats and will continue to do it as long as I reside on this rock we call earth

As hard as it is as a human, you all know, we are not to hate as Christians. Don’t want to preach to anybody, but sometimes we all need reminded what Jesus said about hating anyone. I try to remind myself that they are all lost and blinded.

Maxx Mueller's avatar

Thanx for "not preaching". I'm not a Christian and certainly don't need to be reminded of what any religious leader or denomination has to say or think about or to me.

I'm happy for you, but wish you could keep your religious beliefs to yourself, your family, your friends & the other adherents to your belief system.

That being said, the surplus of hate is so huge throughout society that each of us has a responsibility to tone things down for the good of ALL.

Bob's avatar

Then it wouldn't be a religion. What is wonderful about Christianity, is that it's message holds up, and unlocked the true progressive potential of humanity (that it is not a sin to try and try again if one does not first succeed) even without an unwavering belief and even worship of the unseen or supernatural. (There is a reason the Middle East is not known for innovation).

Benj's avatar

Gosh I'm sorry that Jesus' message leaked and you got some on you.

I think people use the word hate because it is easier than taking the time to really asses the situation and search our minds for more appropriate words to describe our thought and feelings about those who demonize us and our country.

Hate is the Democrats chosen word and we hear it so much and are often caught up in the dynamic of projecting, because they threw that particular word out. We need to be mindful and choose the words we use, not react to their words with like words, but with reasoned and thoughtful messages, if we react at all.

We could just ignore the pedantic, emotional displays that they fire off every other minute. much like we might do with our toddlers. If you feed their bad behavior by reacting to it or pleading with them to stop, bribing them with treats and toys as though they were a dog, don't be surprised if they continue the behavior.

I think TDS is a number of things. One is that he’s got a lot of New York City abrasiveness to his style. One is that he’s funny and often zings his enemies. People who take establishment politics Very Seriously see “unpresidential." One is that he’s a masculine figure representing tradition, which triggers people with daddy issues. But the biggest is that he’s a direct threat to the whole post-war globalist-liberal-progressive-woke consensus. Many people have that view as a core part of their being and self-worth. The view is held almost religiously. Telling them they’re wrong is a major threat to what they think makes them “a good person.”

Lisa Ricketts's avatar

A well thought out and reasoned response. I agree!

I would add that the TDS people generally take in a steady diet of "Orange man bad", Orange man oppressor", Orange man grab pussy" (never thought I'd be typing that word, but I don't like to lie). This style of "Journalism" reducing a twice elected President of the United States of America, to the color of his skin... is very telling about how the Democrat Elites see all of us and how they instruct their followers to label and categorize people as though we are nothing more than a manipulative game that

preschoolers' are encouraged to use when learning to count, sort and classify!

IGNORE THEM

Maxx Mueller's avatar

Ignore them ? Nah, I respect them. 🇺🇸.

Hawk's avatar

It doesn't surprise me. Look at all the leftist celebs. They probably lead the booing.

Samhain's avatar

My take is that the booing would have been funny, or actually the cool thing they think it is, if they didn't actively run basically every form of mainstream media. So, instead of this being the "resistance" they think it is, it just serves to remind everybody why they are justifiably loathed by most decent people.
