“The two I’m on the panel with are much more steeped in foreign policy than a governor is.”

Then what the fuck are you doing there, Whitmer? Using your frequent flyer points? Doing some alpine skiing? Having AOC sound like she’s gargling balls is bad enough. Go make me a vodka martini, bartender. But this clown, Wretched Whitmer, of draconian Covid policy and punishment, is about as out of place at this conference as a pipe fitter in a ballet class.

Mark In Houston's avatar

Brian, you describe Wretched Whitmer to a ‘T’. She’s so out of her depth at this conference it’s comical! Her feigned humbleness in response to the questions posed is a really poor cover for her ignorance - but not for her arrogance - which is why she’s there in the first place.

Brian DeLeon's avatar

Spot on! Whitmer and Gigolo Ken, Gavin Newsom, are two peas in a pod: arrogant and ignorant at the same time.

If the EUs have any sense of survival and self-interest they should be getting behind a Vance / Rubio ticket.

Liz LaSorte's avatar

Incompetent indifference, as Adrian Belew amusingly sang and twanged.

Epaminondas's avatar

Which was on full display during the pandemic. Their performance during that time alone should disqualify for them to run for any future office, let alone President.

mrdoug1's avatar

True enough but let's not forget the Dem voters love it all.

Tim Reding's avatar

VDH put it so succinctly...the democrats are ARROGANT and IGNORANT!!!!

R H's avatar

Their playbook is stale and predictable. Accuse the other side of what you've been doing you're entire career and then cry about it.

NothingButNet's avatar

👍 Indeed! AOC (Alexandria Occasionally Coherent), wHitler, Clinton and BarryO are all out of place, as they all suffer from the same intellectual inbreeding. I used to think the Dems were simply hateful and intolerant, but we have to add stupid to their description. Comparing them to Marco Rubio is like comparing a finger painting by a kindergartner with a Rembrandt.

Pacificus's avatar

Yeah, Marco is going next level.. Not since Henry Kissinger have we seen a Secty of State so focused and so powerful on the world stage. Watch out, JD, you may not have '28 wrapped up...

susan's avatar

Love that! I'm going to use that next time I get an opportunity.

Pipefitters are useful and valuable, however…

Harry Shaneberger's avatar

Excellent post. Whitmer is my governor. She along with her storm trooper attorney general, Dana Nessel, and secretary of state, Jocelyn Benson, ruined peoples' lives during covid, but also changed the rules in the 2020 election without legislative approval and got away with it. I'll be so glad when they're out of office.

mrdoug1's avatar

They'll probably be replaced with stooges who are just as bad or worse. Because whichever Dem candidate wins their primary will be a Leftist disaster, guaranteed.

ElgeeR's avatar

My only quibble with your comment is that it is highly unlikely Whitmer used frequent flyer miles to get to Munich. I'm sure my Great State of Michigan is footing the bill for 1st class airfare and a 5 star hotel.

Casey Jones's avatar

Ya mean pipe fitters can't be graceful too?

Juju's avatar

That is EXACTLY what I said when I heard her say that! Then why the hell are you even there?!! We are now sending clueless, uninformed representatives to world policy forums???

Jrod's avatar

+1. And another +1 for your well-articulated malice. It really comes through!

NNTX's avatar

None of the Dems in Munich distinguished themselves. AOC raised her profile with the same “short clips” she decries—vibing while she knits and simplifying governance to soundbites of remarkable vacuity.

Hilary, otoh, is still bitter than she was defeated by Trump. Her face tells the story of her contempt for anyone who dares (!) to disagree with her.

Whitmer and Newsom had nothing of substance to contribute; it was either propaganda or inanities.

Meanwhile Marco Rubio gave a brilliant speech that made our essential issue—What is the West going to defend—quite clear. Many of us have thoroughly rejected the Globalist bromides of managed decline, DEI/ESG, Climate alarmism, bizarre sexual and gender cults, Marxist/socialist control of others, censorship and such unpopular initiatives as “15 minute cities”. Only by obscuring what is behind the globalist agendas (and the accompanying grift, corruption and untold wealth for the party bosses and funders advocating such an approach to the world, would anyone accept them.

It is brave and truthful authors like you Sasha (and others in independent media) that expose how very broken (and often, evil) the ideas of Globalism and their adherents are. Thank you again!

Hillary is an unlikable person. So are Whitmer and AOC. Obama on the other hand has some form of charisma and speaking skills. Analyze politicians on this framework rather than whether you agree or disagree with their positions.

Then transfer the lessons learned to the populist right. For example JD Vance spoke the truth in Munich last year and they hated him, yet Rubio repeated the same content this year and the Euros applauded. Why? The populist right needs to analyze, learn, and modify tactics to win politically. Probably “Walk softly and carry a big stick” is the lesson of the moment. Cultivate allies, don’t alienate them, and subtly attack enemies in ways that don’t create negative viral videos. People can change tactics without losing their agendas, and it will amplify their power over time. We have until the midterms and 2028 to learn more effective tactics.

I think the difference between the Vance and Rubio speeches is that Rubio made points in it that were reassuring to the listeners. Vance made similar points but didn't acknowledge feelings. It's like Vance is the dad and Rubio the mom, or Vance is the bad cop and Rubio the good cop.

With so many on the left, feelings are everything. That's why some speakers resonate more than others nowadays. We have to listen to all these "the other side also" type points, and the "this doesn't mean that blah-blah-blah isn't important or a serious problem, but that" type points.

mrdoug1's avatar

I think the saying is "talk softly and carry a big stick."

JF's avatar

That video of Hillary is just so frustrating. When Petr Macinka mentions the backlash to issues like gender, Hillary rudely interrupts with a smug smile, "which gender issue...women having their rights?" He clarifies with "there are two genders," and again she cuts him off with "How about half of us? Can we have our rights?" WTF is she even talking about?

The Dems still can't process Trump and why he won...twice. Can they LISTEN for a change and respond, not with condescension and arrogance, but with meaningful and substantive replies. Hillary is so repugnant and clueless. Why is she even invited to this kind of thing?

And then there is AOC, who would rather go off with a flood of nonsense and not just say, "it's complicated" or even "I'm not sure."

quarkdetector's avatar

...like you, I wonder why Hillary is invited to these meetings ... kind of are they paying her or is she paying them? ... gotta admit though, the interview with the BBC was priceless ...

""We have nothing to hide. We have called for the full release of these files repeatedly. We think sunlight is the best disinfectant."" BBC 2/17/26

Sasha, I can only hope that they are forever running in place and getting nowhere. Where they would get is terrifying and we have approached that precipice far to closely.

Taking seriously the idea of AOC for President. What movie is this? This is beyond Monty Python or Firesign Theater.

Special kudos for the Firesign Theater reference. Bonus points if you are under age 60. :-)

Nope! Medicare age.

Scott Butler's avatar

I can relate. I'm a number of years into Medicare territory, and invested numerous hours of my youth listening to my vinyl albums of Firesign Theater. To this day I still subject my wife to occasional quotes and references from those albums.

I'm sure she appreciates it!

For at least 10 yrs I've been saying the DemParty has no talent anymore, their leftist indoctrination has purged the 'thinkers', they don't have a bench. Hence, very nice of them to voluntarily go to Europe and not only re-confirm what I've been thinking, but confirm it TO THE WORLD. I would not have guessed they would be so exposed IN EUROPE, but then, it show us how powerful the US propaganda media is in protecting them.

Casey Jones's avatar

Seems that there's this aphorism about a suspected fool opening his (or her) mouth and removing all doubt...

Texyz's avatar

Indeed. Biblical.

Trav86's avatar

Indeed. The propaganda media is so powerful that these morons have still not been exposed, will never be exposed. It’s very frustrating. My liberal friends have absolutely no idea of the true state of things.

Anthony S Burkett's avatar

These morons have just been exposed... by their own doing. The Left's self-imposed failure to recognize the true nature of their selected champions will be quickly remedied by the light of global recognition just shed on these treasured banner-bearers.

Anthony S Burkett's avatar

You have just won my vote for the most insightful comment of the day!!!~

And what's more, the DemParty has shown the depths of their ignorance together with the heights of their arrogance... to put their self-perceived and selected "A" Team on the world's stage... no media protection can erase what the world has now had a glimpse of... this was absolutely delightful!

sibyl gardner's avatar

Rubio's speech might have elevated him above Vance as the next Presidential candidate.

Obummer is still the best liar among them. I know Leftists use the art of projection as a propaganda tool, but don't you think he realizes (just a little) how out of touch with reality he and his army of miscreants are?

Pacificus's avatar

I think that Obama knows he is cynically committing Felony Projection in his rantings... But it is possible that he is so absolutely clueless that he actually believes his own BS. That's how impervious the Leftist bubble is to reality.

Thomas Simpson's avatar

Who can deny that Obama is "media made" when in fact he was an unknown source in Illinois politics with a seedy history of Madrassa school education and Communist mentoring? Former bartender AOC, was picked out of a herd of 10,000 responders to an Ad in the NY Times. Former Bernie Sanders campaign worker, Alexandra Rojas, can tell you all about it. AOC, like Kamala Harris, is a suitable sock puppet of the Eastern Establishment and nothing more. And it showed in Munich. Hillary is what she has always been, one of the nastiest political entities that ever set foot in DC. She is regarded as the face of evil in many quarters. Betray her at your own risk. Just ask Seth Rich's parents.

Pacificus's avatar

Seth Rich. Say his name. Who killed Seth Rich?

Thomas Simpson's avatar

My educated guess is John Podesta, Clinton’s long time friend and former chief of staff for husband Bill. Podesta threatened revenge to whoever leaked his and Hillary’s emails. If you saw Veritas’ video outing the dirty politics of Robert Creamer on behalf of the Obama White House, you get a glimpse of the dirty side of the Democratic Party. I believe it was Robert Creamer who had Seth Rich murdered as an act of revenge by John Podesta and Hillary Clinton for downloading their emails on a device such as a thumb drive. There never was a Russian Hack and they knew that someone in their midst leaked that information. Is is suspected that Seth was pissed off at Hillary for stealing Bernie Sanders delegates in states where he received the majority of votes but lost because Hillary was given super delegates. So he downloaded her emails and gave or sold them to Wikileaks.

Pacificus's avatar

Now, if Kash could just get the FBI files on Seth Rich released... real Deep State stuff there...

Why are Obama and Killary still even mentionied? Much less AOC, useless and irrelavant? Why?? AOC is dumber than a box or rocks, the other two are lying sacks of shit.

Tao Of Freedom's avatar

Perhaps AOC should start thinking really hard about authoritarianism and recognise that despite the flaws of most Western democracies they do not even come remotely close to the authoritarianism of Putin, Xi, North Korea, Iran, Cuba and a list of many other nations around the world that would make it a very long trek to get down to the first of the most "authoritarian" Western democracy ...

Casey Jones's avatar

Your point was made in the first five words!

Notes from the Under Dog L.'s avatar

It was the height of hypocrisy (the D-Party brand!) for AOC to shill against authoritarianism even in the most garbled terms. Jaw-dropping lack of awareness. Anyone who would vote for her isn't listening, which, I'm convinced, is all that's left of the left -- people who actually can't hear what these people are saying -- and can't hear themselves.

The Left have been the authoritarians. And what strategy does she think would impose this equality on everyone? Pretty please? How about forcing corporations to hire by skin color? Imposing men in women's locker rooms without a vote?

And don't get me started on Sanctuary City bullshit. Not voted on. Not Democratic in any way shape or form.

I wrote a piece on authoritarianism, arguing that there is the left kind, and the right kind. Trump is authoritarian, in the sense that he's restoring the rule of law, which is in effect a form of authority. There's good authoritarianism -- and then there's the left version of it that leads to the guillotine.

Ever since SNL became a cheerleader for Hillary Clinton, it has been completely unwatchable. Her skit where she plays a down-to-earth bartender dropping wisdom on the common volk (as she runs for president) was my final goodbye to an institution that had persisted ever since he was Chevy Chase and you weren’t.

OTOH how many of the Young Union-Taught Geniuses in our schools could find Venezuela on a map either?
