As a Jewish convert (from my original Methodist heritage), at first I did not understand Zionism. As an American, it seemed strange to me. But after 45 years as a Jew or Jew-adjacent, I now understand. I see what is happening to Jews in England and Germany. I see the potential for even America to no longer be the safe haven for Jews it has always been. Now I get why Israel is necessary. I even accept that God made it this way to give His people a safe home, that they can protect for themselves. If Israelis must kill innocent civilians as "collateral damage" in their self-preservation, it is unfortunate, but so be it. Americans have done the same through time, such as Mai Lai or even in Germany and Japan during WW2

I am neither Jewish nor a Jewish convert, so my loyalties are solidly with the United States. However, if the people who call themselves anti-Zionists were not also anti-Semites, they would actively want Jews to feel comfortable and secure in places like the United States, France, the United Kingdom and Germany. Strangely, some of them work to make them uncomfortable in exactly those places. As an American, I want American Jews to feel that this is a country in which they can continue to reside.

You are right to be scared. Just read these awful statements right here in the comments. Our collective thinking and power of reason has been eroded by plain ignorance and hatred. There are plenty of haters right here. Just read all of their gymnastics as they try to justify or hide their actual hatred for Jews and Israel. And I wonder if in the West, this is less about Jew-hate and more about the reflexive liberal-left cheerleading for anyone not white no matter how heinous their behavior. I think the Jews are the target of westerners not so much for their Jewry but because they are white (or close enough) and the "Palestinians" are not (or far away enough). Basically it's nothing more than the usual Marxist CRT. Of course, the Muslim world hates Jews for their Jewry but I think that is a different dysfunction than what afflicts our fellow westerners.

Regarding the "whiteness" of Jews: A few years ago, I came across an article that suggested that "black" translates to radical and "white" translates to bourgeois. That's how you can have apparent oxymorons like black people who "support white supremacy." Many Jews are seen as supporting bourgeois values. Therefore, they are the enemies of the left unless they, too, become radicals.
As far as the alliance between Muslims and Socialists goes, for now my working theory is that both are operating on the basis of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." The classical liberal societies of nations, representative government and more or less free markets are their enemy. For now, they will side with whomever wants to tear that down.
It is not just the Muslim world. It has been endemic in Europe since ancient times with intermittent episodes of toleration.
