The love of a dog is just so pure. You have been lucky to have each other these 12 years. Grief is a powerful thing that won’t be denied. Be gentle with yourself. The madness of the world can wait.
So sorry to hear that Peter. We just said goodbye to our “old faithful” too, on Monday and who was only 8&1/2. He was a rescue at 2&1/2 from the pound, a beautiful brindle, white chested American Staffy/Pittbull. He had cancer, we finally had to make the tough decision after he stopped eating & drinking for some days & was wasting away with who knows what pain, they suffer in silence like we never do.
We kept hoping that he’d go naturally & in his sleep like 2 others had done, but he just kept hanging on for us, such is the heart of a loyal & faithful part of the family. I told him to wait over there “up yonder” for me, I’ll join him one day and we shall play, romp and sing together like we used to (he didn’t sing, but he would’ve if he could’ve 😊).
All our other dogs over the decades reached 16, 15, 13, 13&1/2, 11&3/4. It was a huge shock to lose this fella so soon. As a sticker I have here says: “Life is short. Play with your dog.”
My condolences; I lost my best buddy Pete right after Thanksgiving. He was more than a pet; he was my constant sidekick after I retired. I will always miss him.
Gods bless Jack; as Roy Rogers said, "If there are no dogs in heaven then I want to go where they went."
Prayers for your sweet dog, Jack. I wish I could say I don’t know what you’re going through, but sadly I know only too well. Spend as much time as you can with your beloved companion. We understand. Much love…
Live with Jack and savor every moment. Letting a dear family member go is painful. Please pat his beautiful head from all of us.
Best dog quote from Roy Rogers: "If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went".
Substitute the word cats for the word dogs; or elephants. Cats and elephants, that’s where I want to go.
It is hard to lose that friend
People understand. Give yourself grace and time to say goodbye and to grieve.
I've been there, Sasha. It's so very hard. I will be praying for you and for Jack. How blessed he is to have you caring for him. Hugs to you both.

We just put our dog of 12 years to sleep this Sunday. Very hard.

You dread it and it still comes. No matter how long you have them, it’s still too soon. Most of us have been there and we understand.

On this Saint Patrick’s Day, a prayer for you, Jack and your family. I expect Jack will enjoy the sunshine upon his face.
“May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand."
I’m so sorry. Losing a best dog friend is one of the most difficult experiences 💗🐾💗

We'll be here when you're ready.
Thinking of you Sasha. Saying goodbye is so hard. Take comfort knowing Jack felt your love his whole life.
