Thanks for this column. I was a lifelong Democrat until I voted for Trump in 2016 because he was against free trade and globalization, and wanted to bring jobs back to America. I was also upset about illegal immigration, which mostly stemmed from when I learned firsthand how difficult it is in Mexico to get a work visa to teach English.
They made me go to a Mexican Embassy outside the country instead of just getting it inside Mexico. When I complained to my supervisor, he told me: "All countries have immigration laws and we have to obey them." Are you kidding me??? I came back to California and voted for Trump.
My turn away from the Democrats was sealed with all this DEI stuff, gender identity, pronouns and not being able to say what you really feel without being criticized if it went against woke ideology.
