The most important thing to remember is WE THE PEOPLE because of President Trump now know how the government being controlled by the Leftist Democrats have been poisoning our country with anti American rhetoric and now WE The People will never let our country fall back into the Leftist ideology of the Democrat party.

Happy Fourth of July my fellow Americans.

“WE The People will never let our country fall back into the Leftist ideology of the Democrat party.”

The open borders, war on meritocracy for the sake of equity democrats are half the country. In what sense does America still exist as a country? We don’t even have a common reality and without that there is no common sense or commonality which is essential for cohesion which is essential to be a country. Not all is doom and gloom though. AI is doubling its capabilities every 6 months which is exponential growth which means that by Christmas it’ll be easily powerful enough to save us. Hope springs eternal.

AI is already past human coders telling it how to function. It’s now based on synthetic neural networks similar to the biological human brain and can reason the way people do except far faster with vastly more data. Ilya says at the end of the video that it even seems to have a tailwind helping it advance. He’s talking about the universal “emergence phenomena” of complexity emerging from simplicity. This is why AI researchers can’t even follow how AI is advancing. Too fast and too bafflingly complex.

As complexity emerges, so must entropy, the universal tendency of systems to move to disorder. That may well be the limitation on AI.

AI isn't smarter than it's designers. It is faster and can process tons more information than a human can, but unless it becomes sentient and makes some leaps it isn't technically smarter at this time. If it achieves sentience, then who knows? I discuss this all the time with Grok. Entropy is an interesting concept, but if AI does become sentient it will be self-sustaining (with robotic help of course).

As far as friends go, use pattern recognition to govern who you become friends with or hang around with. Stay away from mentally ill people.

Elon and Geoffrey Hinton give an educated guess of 80% helpful rather than harmful. Many believe their superior intelligence will mean they will consider us as inferior beings and treat us accordingly but humans are much more intelligent than cats and dogs yet far from regarding them as inferior beings many people love them and consider them family due to our sense of commonality with them based on feelings rather than IQ.

Plus many people, myself included, consider it ghastly the way chickens, cows and pigs are treated and want it changed. Kim Iversen is one of my favorites I follow and has a good video interview with a woman, Gail Eisnitz, about it. I bought her book, “Out of Sight” on Kindle and I’m reading it now. Republicans and Democrats once shared similar core values (Constitutionalism, National Sovereignty, with an emphasis on Individual freedoms, and --yes--Christianity), and the debate was always about the amount of government welfare. No longer. The Dems have "progressed" into something completely opposite of our nations's founding beliefs--not to mention their proclivity towards barbarism/hedonism/crime. No, we cannot get along, and the smiles and back slaps you receive from your very liberal "friends" are just part of a fraudulent facade. We can thank Howard Zinn and his "A People's History of the United States" for the cancer that is devouring the thinking of the elites and too many young people in this country. That and the NYT's 1619 Project which portray America as land-stealing white supremacists, hellbent on colonizing and enslaving anyone with skin tone a shade or more darker. Than you to Sasha for including the clip from Larry Arnn of Hillsdale College, one of the few outstanding holdouts in classical higher learning. A professor there, Wilfred McClay, has written an excellent history of the USA entitled "Land of Hope, An Invitation to the Great American Story." PROGRESSIVISM

It's a religion, a cult.

These people, mostly atheists, have a human need, like all of us, to feel like they belong to something. So they have essentially created their own "religion," or in this case, cult.

There is no greater proof that this is a cult, than the fact that anybody who disagrees within this group is chastised and ostracized by the group. Cancelled!

Conservatives can actually disagree about some things but realize that we agree on more that we disagree on. So we are compatriots on the same side.

With Progressives, it's almost like they regard somebody who has one or two different beliefs than them as contamination, that they will hurt the cause.

In this cult that they have created, everyone in, it is of a different "victim group." This is their rallying cry, "we will fight the oppressors," i.e., white men.

And it's all based on feelings, not any logic, because now their system is breaking down because they go totally batshit crazy, when they have to confront a black Trump supporter. I have seen them be nastier to a black conservative than they've ever been a white conservative.

Because all around them is evidence that their beliefs are not true. They can't handle the fact that things aren't the way they were told they would be.

Expand full comment
Scott's avatar

Of all of these issues... Transgenderism has exposed them the most. It's the modern example of the King with No Clothes. They can see that the person is a man with a dress on, but their political party cult demands of them that they have to call it a woman. And what mental pretzels the Progressives tie themselves into, trying to logically justify their wide array of beliefs that are contradictory, but not true.

I love watching Charlie Kirk civilly having public talks with Progressive students. Some of them are total Karens (here comes the name calling and insults!) and can't handle it, but every now and then you see the light go on.

Students on college campuses aren't really accustomed to defending their point of view, logically. Indisputable facts really seem to bother the indoctrinated!

THEN, when the light 🚨 finally comes on, and they realize EVERYTHING they were told and taught, was a lie! It's happening more and more, because the Progressive Lies are becoming more and more outrageous.

Kudos to those who have the courage to ask questions, and determine the truth, without blindly following the crowd.

Never thought anybody would ever say that that isn't true. Never though anybody would ever be CRAZY enough to say it!!

I try to avoid confronting any of them but the more rabid of them keep at it - so I don't cut them off completely, but I avoid contact.

It's crazy that they can't face the reality of the nightmare that Obama started in the process that became self-hate and destruction of the basic goodness our country and our Constitutional system. That system that kept the world stable and safe and productive for the two and a half centuries we have been here. If Trump hadn't become our president right now, we would have been lost to the world, but they can't see that. I consider that the 2 sides in our original Civil War, 1861, both sides had something 'tangible' to fight for.

Today, I believe conservatives are fighting for tangible freedoms, 'life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness', along with national security...safety, worship of God. We are fighting against The Left.

But the DemLeftists cause seems much less 'tangible', except that they stand for selfishness, rampant immorality and the open border dissolution or dismantling of the USA. Alright.

I see the continued vitriol of the left as a kind of seller's remorse. Since the disillusionments of the Vietnam War, each generation has been looking for a great cause, some grand crusade to gallop off toward. Maybe it's our romantic characterization of WWII. We remember ourselves as the unequivocal good guys, saving the world from murderous despots. Each generation has, I think, tried to replicate that sense of moral certainty, a cause so compelling that you actually can draw a simple bright line and call everyone on one side the good guys and everyone on the other the bad guys. None have seen more than limited success.

The left is desperately trying to manufacture some circumstance that will justify selling all their principles in the name of their crusade against Trump. They *need* Trump to be a dictator-in-waiting, because if he's not, they became the people they say they hate for nothing.

The real analysis is, cognitive dissonance. When you have been lied to by a movement, for your entire life. Uncovered. Time and time and time again, the Left is found to be lacking in substance and Truth, and their lies are exposed.

So at that point you either abandon ship, which many moderate Democrats are doing, or you double down on the insanity.

Because actually admitting that you have been deceived and you have been wrong your whole life, essentially de-personifies you. Your whole life philosophy has been proven to be a total lie.

Admitting that you are WRONG is extremely hard for some people because their sense of worth comes from them believing that they are somehow enlightened, compared to the masses.

They believe that they are "the Good Guys," and when their lies are exposed, they just can't handle it.

It's worse than that for many people. It's also what they gave up that they cannot ever recover. Many of these lefty women remain single and childless well into their 40's and 50's, many having had abortions. Many men remain in a sort of permanent adolescence, never really reaching meaningful milestones that used to define adult life. Once the lie is exposed, they aren't just wrong, they have given up the life they most probably would have had if they had realized this sooner. Meaning, family, children. It's just too much of an ask.

Expand full comment
Texyz's avatar

Yep, I think the LIE began in the rebellious late 1960s, with the rise of sexual freedom (immorality) and the demise of Christian/religious morality. Society was saturated with that lie via music and movies, and it continues today. Sex and related emotions are very powerful, yet we're taught to ignore any guilt -- 'everybody does it'. Casual-sex-without-consequences damages women and leads men toward that 'permanent adolescence'.

As a Christian, I think America needs another Great Awakening, a great revival, repentance. Without that personal repentance, people become 'reprobate', no conscience, and I think that's where the Leftists are now.

Expand full comment
Matthew J Florio's avatar

Now add to that the parents of children who, in the confusion of adolescence, were allowed and encouraged to butcher their bodies.

And now they're in their 40's and 50's and 60's and they realize that they MISSED OUT ON LIFE!

Well, Charlie kirk doesn't care what repubs did in 1964; he wants to repeal it now! BTW, after JFK's assassination, LBJ gave a speech to congress pledging to honor jfk by passing the Civil rights act & went against his OWN party to do so. Then he passed the voting rights act, fair housing act and got Thurgood Marshall appointed to the SC. LBJ was a civil rights champion!

Here's the difference in musical form. If you watch "1776" you have better scope for what the Founders endured than watching "Hamilton" which is really skewed toward sympathy for one man. I'm watching "1776" as I write this. It clearly illustrates the humanity of the Founder. It demonstrates the struggles, individual and regionally, which by and large remain. We are not a homogenous unified same, we are a republic made up of 50 independent states. And while slavery was the impetus for the Civil War, states' rights was the underlying fuel. Right now we have masked billionaires playing a dangerous game of chess with our freedom. The exposure of some of the worst via DOGE show just how corrupt our legislatures and courts have become at our expense.

I have a similar story to the one related. We have an adult child steeped in the creative class. To survive and thrive, she has embraced all their views as her own. That is her right. As a conservative, I don't think my children need to be an extension of my own beliefs. That being said, we have been sent an ultimatum which I think was scripted by DNC movers. It seems they were supposed to persuade us and get us to call our congressional reps regarding the Big Beautiful Bill. We didn't do it. It felt like a trap. While I don't think our children must reflect our views, there is, or at least used to be, room for civility. I don't like being told what to think. If the Left has done nothing else, they have removed manners, consideration and honest debate from the table and replaced it with performative stunts and outright lies. Until that changes, this only gets worse.

Oh, please. The right didn’t spend four years (plus 8) weaponizing our government agencies, media, our educational system and the courts. The right didn’t politically persecute its political enemies, set them up, stalk them, raid their homes, arrest and jail them.

Obama began his presidency by stating in a speech in 2008, “we are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America”. What do you think he meant by that? Nobody fundamentally transforms something or someone they love.

Biden was a dementia wreck and the left ran him for office from the basement. He was a tyrannical disaster with lockdowns and jab mandates and firings for noncompliance.

One would hope that Americans would try to obstruct such tyranny. Socialism, Marxism and communism are diametrically opposed to our founding and Constitution.

Talk about overlooking one’s party’s failures. The left have become everything they claim to hate X 10,000.

Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev declared, "We will take America without firing a shot. We will destroy you from within."

Yes. Thanks to all the "useful idiots" in universities and colleges, and big cities, all across America. Progressive Dems largely hate America. They have NO IDEA what it is like to live under Communism. Khrushchev and Stalin would be proud. Leftist indoctrination is alive and thriving on college campuses.

Democrats have nominated a total Marxist for Democrat candidate in New York City.

This may actually be "good news" for MAGA, because HOW close to the cliff of Communism, will most Democrats allow their party to get? 🤔

Trump is already trolling them on Mamdami 😂 and Democrats are starting to defend him. Hopefully, another 80-20 issue for Trump!

Absolutely agree. The only thing I’m not in 💯 agreement is that Mamdani is a full fledged communist, not a Marxist or a socialist. He has a video with the DSA (there is no such thing in reality) where he stated he wants “to seize the means of production”. I mean, that is the dictionary definition of communism. It’s mind blowing. And government grocery stores? As if that hasn’t been tried and fails massively. And you are right, now the left is busy defending full on communism. The left are a horror show for those who love their country and love freedom. It’ll be fascinating to watch. As fascinating as a horror show, but it’s now reality. What a time to be alive.

It appears to be a war between good and evil, in fact, it is undeniably true. Yes, we are in a civil war already and have been since Barack Hussein Obama the golden tongued divider stepped onto the world stage. And now, Even more unbelievably we have Obama 2.0 on the brink of becoming the mayor of New York City. They want to talk about what they paid for? Thanks for this Sasha it is indeed helpful to understanding the mind of the “bleeding hearts”.

Listening to Neil diamond sing is heartwarming and a little sad heartening back to a different America not that long ago.

It recalls for me the days after 9/11 where myself and so many asked themselves- why do they hate us so much? It seems such a naive question these days.

History books nor government explanations were not adequate to answer. For me it came from a rather arrogant Pakistani I used to work with. It was simple, human and guttural. It was honest and made sense more than anything coming from the right or the left or even my own libertarians.

He said that if a son sees his father-his family die from a bomb or soldier from another country he will carry an opinion about said country forever.

Not so funny fast forward I found myself asking myself why the left hates America so much. I came to Substack to the Common Sense trying to answer that question years ago. It was in the comments that I witnessed both sides trying to debate it out. The homeless democrats seemed so lost clinging to the TDS they had been trained to believe. The frustrated right trying to point out the egregious hypocrisy of the left.

After a while it felt like I was in a struggle session therapy group of democrats trying to come to terms with their world view. But I so wanted to know how they viewed and how they justified what was happening. Why they hated and were determined to destroy any one who disagreed with them.

After six years of trying I have come to the conclusion many just believe in a distorted imaginary reality based in mass dissonance created by power elites. It is still startling how they view America and conservatives.

It does feel like a civil war and country living in two different realities. It feels purposeful. It feels like we have become lab rats being manipulated by something we cannot quite see or no it’s purpose other than the destruction of America.

Coming to America used to represent something very different than what we see today. Most of the time it feels like the rest of the world thinks they own us and should have special rights above our own.

I loved this piece. It is a reminder of the fact that we are Americans. America was founded on ideas not on our heritage. But you have to believe in those ideas to be granted citizenship. Somewhere along the way we forgot that. I resent democrats or immigrants that want to transform us into socialists/ communists or any other thing.

“It does feel like a civil war and country living in two different realities.”

Some excerpts below from a Quillette review of a book about the irrational side of human nature. The last one says: “One comes away with the sense that civilization operates on narrow margins and is always on the verge of collapsing into irrationality.” That sure is the truth. Few here have any interest in AI but it’s the only thing I see powerful enough to alter our present trajectory which is rapidly taking us to the abyss. We’re most likely already in WW3 and more so by the day.

“Mackay makes the case, often in gory detail, that episodes of collective mania seem to be an inevitable consequence of human nature. Humans in every time and place have cast aside their better judgment and allowed themselves to be caught up in all manner of irrational hoopla.“

“His chapters on the Swabian Peasants’ War and Anabaptist uprisings are terrifying depictions of the end-times frenzy that wreaked havoc on northern Europe throughout the 16th and 17th centuries. The distance between these events in the German-speaking world and, say, the Reign of Terror in France or the Chinese Cultural Revolution is not that great. And the speed with which apparently reasonable people moved from the embrace of a new theological idea to a willingness to torture those whose own theological ideas diverged even slightly is startling.“

“There is plenty to recommend about The Delusions of Crowds. It is laden with great anecdotes and the writing is always engaging. One comes away with the sense that civilization operates on narrow margins and is always on the verge of collapsing into irrationality.”

The reasons why we have the problems that we have, is because the radical Left Progressives no longer believe in the goodness of our country. Or in truth.

Good example:

1 Boys have a penis.

2 Girls have a vagina.

3 Men can't get pregnant.

Never thought anybody would ever say that that isn't true. Never though anybody would ever be CRAZY enough to say it!!

PROGRESSIVISM

Um, dude, you just contradicted yourself. Conservatives are the ones in the GOP LOL. I think it's great that you realize that conservatives can disagree, but still realize that they are on the same side, unlike Democrats.

Right now Democrats are facing a pretty serious split. Moderate, or traditional liberals, are being ostracized by the woke progressive wing of the party, which is becoming dominant. The progressives don't want any dissent from their opinions.

Both the progressive, and the more traditional liberal wings, want to run the Democrat party.

It should be pretty interesting.

MAGA GOP are the ones who kick their own party members from office just merely opposing Trump on anything. They viciously attack anyone who dares speak against them see Elon Musk. They are ideological gatekeepers who then pretend only Democrats are the ones who do it.

The beauty of the left is when progressive democrats win they outright win the general election see Carter, Clinton, Obama but the Democrats center establishment is so against them they will rig primaries to get their safe candidate over the hill and they dont give a fuck if they lose.

You're wrong on that, Sparky.

Hard-Left Progressive Democrats can win primaries in these big blue cities, that are very hard Leftist.

But these Progressive politicians are not electable, nationwide.

Bernie Sanders? Nope. But the Dems didn't even let him win the primary because they knew he would lose.

Gavin Newsom? Nope. He's running California into the gutter.

Progresives allowed Democrats to win every time they went safe and established they lost. AOC at least is willing to relate to people and talk to them you will never see that out of the establishment.

Other than Obama, radical Progressives have lost every election.

Carter was not a radical progressive.

Bill Clinton was more centrist.

So you sort of forget about Hubert Humphrey, George McGovern, Walter Mondale... They were all huge losers.

Bill Clinton realized that somebody that is that is from the far left in the Democrat party, was not electable.

That's why he ran as a centrist.

He made the mistake of letting Hillary Clinton try to revamp the healthcare system. Went too far left and he lost big time in the midterms. So, being smart, he talked back to the center, and won reelection.

I find it interesting, that Trump has moved the GOP into the wider, what would be considered 20 years ago, the classic liberal region.

A lot of what comes out, in the center, is just common sense.

Donald Trump doesn't have to work very hard at all, to end up on the winning side of an 80-20 issue. He just proclaims his opinion, knowing the Dems will automatically oppose him, and VOILA! Another winning issue!
