We should be more concerned about the usual propaganda that comes from the usual news outlets that mainlined their propaganda for years and continue to do so. Indifference and complacency among voters is stunning to me after what we all experienced through the Biden/Harris Fiasco, specifically all the covid bullshit.
The manufactured personalities are a very real problem. I don't think there are very many on the right who are cheering Charlie's killing, but the undercurrent of conspiracy theories, particularly those blaming "the Jews", have been around a very long time now. The Jews are financially successful because they are tribal and take care of their own. (Of course they aren't the only ones. Look how well Ilhan Omar's tribe has done in MN with organized fraud.) That breeds a lot of resentment that isn't ever going to go away.
We live in Minnesota. We spent many hours driving along the Upper Peninsula of Michigan during the 5 years our son and his family lived there. Driving along MI Hwy 26 we passed a sobering string of boarded up businesses and run down houses, remnants of more prosperous times when the copper mines were still operating. I remember thinking of my leftist relatives who think that the only people who are suffering economically are urban black people. You are right that most Democrats are out of touch with many Americans. They have no time for the people who are paying the price of their bad policies because to them they are invisible, people trying to rebuild their lives after trade policies emptied the factories and jobs went overseas. I wish I had more confidence in Republicans, but I am afraid they are spineless or are secretly just as interested in destroying the American project as the Democrats are, the constitution be damned.
Democrats do not work like the rest of Americans. They go to cushy jobs on corporate or university campuses, kibbitz with each other all day, go home, kick back and watch PBS or read the New York Times. They attend parties with each other on the weekends that exclude any conservative thoughts or voice. They think they are the enlightened ones. And they proceed to destroy the country with their fantasy and emotion-based, illogical, thoughts and decisions.
I think your suspicions are well-founded for some Republican politicians. But not for the vast majority of Republicans in the street, who cherish the American Project and the values necessary to keep it alive.

The problem with many establishment Republicans is that they are content to be in the minority, and use that lack of power to raise money. Meanwhile Democrats do anything to get power and use it.

Trump was willing to try to pressure Pence into not doing his ceremonial duty of certifying the electoral votes, use fake electors, beg Georgia for JUST 11,790 more votes, and incite his followers to invade & trash the Capitol and terrorize lawmakers to try to prevent the election from being certified. His followers were not armed because they had to go through metal detectors to get to the area where trump was speaking.

It is tragic in multiple dimensions. Unfortunately, it might be the mirror Americans need to keep looking in until we deliver justice and better protections for our most vulnerable. And I do not mean this only in the realm of crime, but in education, vaccine reforms, tax relief, peace and many other opportunities to deliver significantly better value at lower costs.

This is an infuriating article, not because you're necessarily wrong on your points, but because it suggests how unserious America has become as a country and as the supposed "leader" of the rapidly diminishing free world. Make no mistake: the entire western world is imploding on America's watch, largely as a result of pathologies that were incubated in America and exported to the rest of the west like a series of fatal viruses.
It's not hyperbole to say that the US is currently akin to a gunshot victim itself, bleeding out in front of our eyes, in cardiac arrest. Trump is the lone paramedic trying to stem the bleeding, every second counting, while everyone else is divided into those who try their best to ignore what is happening, second guessing him, or else actively fighting to stop him. And this isn't to disagree that Trump himself is also needlessly ham handed in administering his life saving measures, which only intensifies the drama.
The Democrats have long gone insane, they haven't changed and won't change, while most Republicans are weak and feckless, squabbling constantly, and just as invested as the Dems in maintaining the status quo - the great delusion that the post-war 1950 world order still exists and that America is a strong and serious country.
Cleveland and other hollowed out cities didn't become the way they are overnight. How could anyone fix thirty plus years of utterly failed policies in 15 months? This is going to take years, maybe decades, of sustained efforts to turn around, and it definitely won't be painless.
This whole "dolls at Christmas" nonsense, and the obsession over speculations about the mid-terms and 2028 would seem to be damning proof that America is incapable of being serious or achieving any course correction in its drive off the cliff into the abyss of the post-post war world.
