Regret my vote for Trump? As opposed to what? Voting for Democrats instead??? NEVER

Kelly Alvin Madden's avatar

THIS. It was such a difficult decision for me to vote for Trump in 2024, for the first time.

But now I can't remember why.

Wendi's avatar

Give it time- if Newsome gets the democrat vote and wins the Presidency , you’ll see what real problems and mismanagement looks like

Mac Thompson's avatar

If Gruesome "wins," it would only happen because the election was heavily rigged and the process utterly broken. At that point, we'd be well on our way to national divorce or civil war.

No way we are letting that dork do to America what he's done to California.

If the SAVE Act is passed, we keep our country. If it doesn't, there will be some dark days ahead. Pass it and the Demoncats are done, don't pass it and our country is done.

Bonnie Beresford's avatar

My biggest fear is they will do anything to win and that means cheating. I hate the idea of losing the filibuster via the SAVE act, because it was one of the very wise additions to the Constitution that forces time and thoughtful consideration before voting on anything. We have too many laws as it is.

But we know the Dems will eliminate it anyway.

THAT is what I really hate about it.

I will never regret my third time vote for Trump. I’m going to write a letter to my two-year-old granddaughter that when she’s 80 years old to read the history of Trump. I do hope that historians will write that he is one of the best presidents ever.

I'm a second generation Californian and never left. IF Newsom becomes POTUS, one of the first things you'll need to buy is an electric car costing thousands of $$. You'll have to decide whether you want to wait in lines, day or night, to charge your car. You can choose to have a charging station at your home, but they cost thousands of $$ to install.

After that, you'll be mandated to change all of your gas appliances to electric, including water heaters.

Mtone's avatar

The electric grid is aged and almost completely at capacity. There’s not enough capacity left for a charging station for each square quarter mile.

@JamesTalarico says: "Trans children are God's children, made in his image"... and then right after "they are perfect". If that is all true, then why is radical, irreversible HUMAN surgery and drug intervention required to modify God's "perfect children"? God would make sure they were born perfect and required no human, Frankenstinian modifications to become "perfect". But don't let logic get in your way, James.

This message is posed by the Left to those who voted Right but still doesn't see what the Left really is. To those of us who have eyes to see and ears to hear, we will never regret a vote that doesn't go to the Left even if he or she never turns out to be what we expected. That's my general answer.

My specific answer is still NO because I like Trump, I like what he is doing, I like what he has tried to do and I believe he is the man to lead our country in this dark time when assassination attempts on his life are buried by the media a week later after begrudgingly covering them to begin with...when the Left cheats, we all know they cheat and many on the Right want to continue giving them cover to cheat while pretending to oppose them...when the Left calls evil good and good evil and many on the Right pretend they are just idealogical opponents instead of domestic enemies, terrorists in many cases.

NO I don't regret my vote for Trump when I see the alternatives!

I go as far back with Trump to 1988 when he would be on Oprah. He said the same things then as he does now. I watch every single episode of The Apprentice when it first aired in January 2004. During his first debates with Hillary, Jeb Bush and other heavy hitters, he was saying what I had been saying for a long time. He's wiped up the floor with each one in a humorous manner. When a friend of mine, who was born, raised and living in NYC told me firsthand stories of how Trump helped her and her family (paid all of the mother's steep hospital bills and gave her father a job), I felt he was the real deal.

Trump is unconventional and I love it. Is he arrogant? Sure. He was arrogant when he was on Oprah. I see it differently now. He isn't as much arrogant as he is confident.

We have been lied to for decades. Trump lays it all out on the table for all to see. I'm certainly not a cult member, but I support Trump 100%.

God NEVER, EVER chooses perfect people to work His plan. God uses people who are willing. Trump is that person. I pray every single day and night for God to direct his steps in the way he should go.

I respond from Australia where we suffer from a Uniparty system. I pay attention to politics in the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. And to a lesser degree in the Eurozone. Politics in all of these places are so dysfunctional! Although you in America have experienced as least as bad under the Biden administration.

There are lots of people around the world in western nations who see Donald Trump as the only hope we have for liberty, freedom and the opportunity for agency and enterprise and achevement and self-determination. If America finally falls back onto the path of globalism/socialism and totalitarianism it was on under Obama and Biden, we are all ruined!

MyOpinion's avatar

I am far more afraid of what will come after Trump than now. I even fear what will happen if we lose the House & Senate, but let me give you my perspective. The Bible states clearly that God chooses people to work His plans. It also says the gates of hell won't stop God's plans.

It's all very, very easy to know what is going on. We are in an unseen battle battle between good and evil (God and Satan). When I heard Iran made a huge tactical error by bombing their allies and are now on the side of the US, I laughed. That was very much "a God thing".

I believe in the hidden hand of God. He uses men & women of both self and mixed motives for His own end, on the daily. This includes those he works thru on both sides of the aisle, including those as a human, I disagree with (D’s). I’m too small and insignificant to understand His plans for humanity, which is why I accept the results of our political leadership, regardless of R or D. I prefer R, but perhaps D had to occur when it did in order for social change to return ‘back’ to His ways, which we are increasingly seeing.

God is sovereign. He works his will with all kinds of people, including 'rulers': Pharaoh. David (murderer, adultery). Kings of Assyria, and more. Proverbs 21:1 The king's heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; he turns it wherever he will.

So, let our sleep be peaceful. God is completely in control!

I saw Trump in 2016 at a rally in Florida, and never looked back. He’s a brash, good-hearted, flawed New Yorker, and I knew then like I know now that he was our answer to questions we didn’t even know we had…and since then, my my my, what has he shown us but the disgraceful underbelly of DC’s corruption on both sides? How his enemies abound! How our tax dollars have been squandered! How deep and odiferous is the swamp! And he works around the clock to keep the devils from the door. He is our last great chance, and surely, like many believe, God-sent to save this great nation to finally come into its founder’s ideal of what it actually could be. He believes in us, so I in turn, believe in him, and pray for his success and survival every day. Thank you Sasha, for your belief as well!

As more compelling evidence comes to the surface about the massive election fraud in 2020 and beyond not just here but worldwide, consider what the Democrats are really counting on to win this upcoming Midterm election and every other one that follows. I think Trump is well aware of this and is doing everything he can to change it ASAP. This is the real war he’s facing.

Sasha,

Very timely article you have here remembering the last couple of days. One of my Democrat, TDS friends said to me "You voted for Trump, right?" I said yes even though I live in Southern California. He then said, "What do you think of the war?" Then he rephrased it a bit and said, "What do you think of Trump now? ... How can you be for him?" "Do you believe him?" (Kind of referring to Gavin Newsom's quotes, and Jimmy Kemmel I think." I said, "I believe Iran." He said what do you mean and I said that I believe that they want to attack Israel and The United States. I believe they have been working towards that goal for years in spite of our bunker busters. They met for negotiations and Iran ignored the warnings. Their family run country that subjects its citizens to open machine gunning control killing thousands didn't respond to the negotiations in a way that prevented an eventual attack. Perhaps they thought President Trump would not prevent them from getting nukes with the midterm elections coming up. This would be bad politics, and they were ready for the fight. Now they have it.

My Democrat friend didn't have much to say. I was taking Iran at its word. Now I need to take the Democrats at their word. They dislike me as a Trump supporter like they dislike you. As a matter of fact, many of them hate me and they say so with all their little chatter groups on Facebook. They joke about me being dead. The problem is they are not joking. They would kill President Trump and kill me if they found that the path to get what they want. I think that they are delusional, like you once were but they think I'm evil and crazy and that would justify taking me out, not giving me a chance to vote and taking away my right to bear arms and have free speech.

Am I shocked at times the way President Trump does things? Yes, of course, but there is NO ONE BETTER for the next three years. I don't wish the Democrats a tragic ending like they wish for me, but I do hope they see the light.

Juju's avatar

I agree with everything you said but one thing: “Am I shocked at times the way President Trump does things? Yes, of course.” Not me. It’s not an “of course” at all. That signals that any reasonable person should be shocked sometimes, so where does that leave me? Unreasonable?

I don’t think so. Not once have I ever truly been “shocked” by him in any sense of that word. I have at times “groaned” after he articulated something in middle school vernacular, but it wasn’t a groan linked to shock or anger or deep offense. Not at all. It was more similar to a reaction an older sibling might have when their younger brother does something really immature, but you still love him and would die for him.

That’s it. That’s the most “disappointment” I have ever had in him, his lack of stage polish. But that’s only because IF he had stage polish, he would be perfect in every way and beyond reproach. It would be easier for us, not him. No man but Jesus successfully lived a perfect life like that, so these are Trump’s scuffs that make him human.

I think sometimes people say they have been shocked by him at times so that they don’t look like they are “blindly” devoted in every way, like in a cult. Thats something the left often accuses us of to make us feel stupid, embarrassed, uneducated, or incapable of making a reasonable assessment of Trump. Our stating he sometimes shocks us too is a defensive posture towards them. This is not true and I won’t let them bully me into that corner. My devoted support and tolerance of his immaturity is neither blind nor unreasonable. It’s balance of reality: nobody is perfect.

I acknowledge his flaws, but they don’t shock me. They annoy but amuse me.

Valerie's avatar

Well said, Juju. If Trump had stage polish, he wouldn’t be Trump. One thing about Trump - love him or hate him - is that he’s authentic. His lack of polish is who he is. I personally really, really appreciate authenticity as I get older. There is so make fake in this world.

Deborah Gallaway's avatar

So beautifully said, Juju. Thank you. Your words here help me refine my own understanding.

Roberta L's avatar

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!

Mitchel's avatar

Thank you for such a well written response to my reaction to Sasha's post. There are a couple of elements involved in the 'shock' that I described. Much of it has to do with what our President says and what actually gets reported. There is no substitute for hearing him or reading him directly. This nearly always puts things into the proper context. If I hear 'about' something he has said on the MSM often times it has been twisted intentionally to 'shock' as many people as possible. I'm both shocked at the way they have twisted his words and shocked at how little they care about my views as a citizen of the United States. And just as a final parsing of the word shock, it is good that he is not always playing nice. I need to be shocked into not always playing nice with them either. Many of them are such overbearing bores that they need to be shocked as in a therapy session to stop posting some of their hate.

I will never regret voting for Trump three times. He has faced opposition from all directions as you say. Because from all directions there are enemies of patriotic Americans. Me. And people like me. Wall Street and corporate America sent 10s of thousands of factories and millions of jobs to China. Then they imported millions of Indian H1b workers to take good American jobs. The media hates people like me and are agents of the Marxists in the Democrat Party. So is education. They weaponized the power of the government against people like me. They stole the 2020 election. They have spent 6+ decades hating on heterosexual Christian white males like me. Trump has survived what would not be survivable by the vast majority of men. He has more resilience than any one I know. So what that he has some faults. I don’t care. Look at the Biden’s, the Obama’s, the Clinton’s for starters. I hope people wake up before November and realize Trump has more than earned our support. WE OWE HIM. At least support him with your midterm vote. VOTE! These are historic times. Trump is a historic President. He is a rare and historic man. I am going to miss when Trump is done. And I hope enough of the people of this country realize the importance of what Trump has already achieved. I know that I am going to miss this time in history and I am going to miss President Trump. Most if not all people alive now, young and old, are very unlikely to ever see another man like Trump again as President. He is transforming this country in a way that has long been needed if we have any hope of remaining a free and powerful Republic. He is even transforming and bringing down bit by bit the main stream media and the so-called late night talk shows. He often stands alone. The GOP even now is made up of embarrassing beta males. And yet he has many of his (and my) enemies, domestic and foreign on defense. I am going to miss President Trump.

I was a rust belt teen in the 80s. If you aren’t from something like a rust belt town you can’t understand, but millions of us have been waiting all these years, four decades, for a single ‘leader’ who would live up to their campaign promises to us.

That the guy who would finally do it is a brash billionaire from New York seems unthinkable. But here we are.

Brilliant Sasha. Couldn’t agree more.

President Trump has courage, the indispensable virtue. He is tough, agile and truly cares about the American people. I can’t imagine him saying something as despicable as “what difference does it make” as Hillary did when interrogated on Benghazi. His demeanor with tragedies (Camp Mystic floods come to mind, one of many) shows his compassion. The vapid and vicious folks on the Left don’t know of his many acts of personal kindness and charity because, despite the claim that Trump is an egotist, Trump does not publicize them.

As for those on the Right trying touting anti-semitism and retorting that they “didn’t vote for this war”—TOUGH! You vote and then you allow. the president to make decisions based on information at hand. He tried negotiating, as well as a lethal air strike (last June), and Iran still was boasting to Witkoff about their enriched uranium which would feed 11 nuclear bombs. Anyone that thinks those would not be aimed at us is not connected with reality.

Common sense, plain speaking, fierce drive to MAGA in the time he has left—I am not only still supporting President Trump, I support him more than ever.

Boze's avatar

I'm with ya, Sasha Stone. Former Dem, hated Trump in 2016, ambivalent in 2020, voted decisively for him in 2024; think he's more and more badass everyday. No shame, no regret. We see the big picture. Godspeed Trump and Team, Godspeed America.

Stephen Schrader's avatar

The thing that is frustrating for me is that the MSM and others have tried to define MAGA to us, the "great unwashed." Trump IS MAGA. He has reminded us several times. We who support him are his happy warriors. We are supporters. The press constantly forgets that. They feed us bullshit information and tag lines.

"Cracks showing in MAGA"

"MAGA has splintered"

"Prominent voices within MAGA…"

THEY SIMPLY DO NOT GET DONALD J TRUMP. They see an outsized, poisonous ego. What I see is a man who is self-effacing in his humor and loves to tweak the noses of his haters. Renaming the Kennedy Center? Tweak. Suggesting that he deserves the Nobel Peace prize? Tweak. When he goes off script in speeches you hear his self effacing humor. Simultaneously he loves to pinch the noses of his detractors and drag them along wherever he goes. And they are stupid enough to go along with it.

As far as Democrats go… You can't dislike and despise them enough. They are absolutely a party bent on winning without altering their nasty ideals. Democrats were for a strong border. We saw all the videos and currently see them from the 90s through the 2000s. Trump makes it a campaign issue in 2016 and they're completely against it. 80/20 issues mean nothing to Democrats. They are anti-law-enforcement. Anti-military. Anti border protection & control. Anti Energy. They are certainly against global order with America at the lead. Anything Trump is for, Democrats are against.

Just look at blue states. Blue cities within red states. They are bereft of morals or ethics. Their cities are a disaster. They are broke. Democrats talk about affordability and then turn around and raise your taxes. Everything the Democrat party espouses is just lip service. They want control over the masses. They think that our money is their money. They call their boondoggles "investments." Put simply, they hate America.

America is standing on the precipice of something that was wholly thought unachievable:

Venezuela, Cuba, Iran misery may be over. Brilliant and strategic moves concerning the motivations and the movements of China and Russia thwarted. Restoring order to our backyard: Central and South America. Making NATO mean something instead of a money fire that we keep throwing more cash into. Balancing world trade instead of putting us in a constant state of financial disadvantage. Real control over how we are taxed at the federal level.

I could go on and on. But in closing, Trump is the most consequential president since World War II. Reagan started it and Trump is gonna finish it. Hopefully this will go on with either Vance or Rubio. Hopefully we will retain some control over Congress even if it is a slim majority. Hopefully Senator Thune will wise up and end the ridiculous filibuster. Or at least restore the standing filibuster. We need the SAVE Act desperately. We need a balance budget. We need term limits.

Juju's avatar

“…and loves to tweak the noses of his haters.”

Love this descriptor! Nails it. You can enjoy his speeches and moves more listening with this in mind.

Democrats embraced evil, dishonest, and deceptive tactics. That’s why I despise them. Their methods. The ends do NOT justify their means. Ever. They can’t win playing fair and with admirable character, so they chose winning over fairness and character. How pathetic. They could have won again even if they lose now had they left their souls in tact. Instead they sat when they should have stood for the American people, all to reject Trump.

kerr's avatar

Well, I believe Reagan has been the most consequential president since 1945, (Truman was close, see Truman Doctrine). Reagan was called the "mad bomber" in Europe, they protested ad nauseum because he put short range missiles in Germany, Star Wars speech, which now is operational, but they thought Reagan was insane, economy A+, eventual destruction of the Soviets and the rise of the Reagan revolution...

We must wait for the full pic of Trump historically.

Alice Ball's avatar

He’s easily the best President of my lifetime and only Reagan even comes close. Trump is truly the Gray Champion that Sasha has written about so compellingly. He’s forceful and brash and brave & certainly doesn’t care about all of the policies that past useless politicians have put in place and that hurt Americans. He’s a bull in a china shop, a major disrupter with sharp elbows, and Thank God for him. Like other Gray Champions, he’s leading us out of a Fourth Turning, and will be admired in history. Washington in the Revolutionary War; Lincoln in the Civil War; Roosevelt in WW2; and now Trump.

Richard's avatar

No regrets. The only person that agrees with me 100% is me and that is subject to change. It is unreasonable to expect otherwise.

We do have to think about the future though. With about 100% certainty, Democrats will persecute Trump and everyone associated with him if they take power so we have to make MAGA a sustainable movement rather than simply a motto for Trump.

A couple of observations. You aren't kidding when you say X isn't the real world. They purge about 700M fake accounts annually. And they are pikers compared to Facebook which purges 4B.

You worry too much about the anti-Semitic fringe on the Right. They are real but antisemitism is mainstream on the Left. I do worry about the attitudes of young people but wonder whether that is just an artifact of their general leftism.

I am not convinced that the US hit that school. Everyone seems to agree that it was on the ground of a base the US did hit so a targeting error is possible. I am so old I remember Clinton bombing the Chinese embassy in Serbia so those things do happen. In the case of the school, there may be a timing issue. The video the media is pimping shows the inbound missile with the school already in ruins. There is another one that appears to show a faulty missile launch from the colocated base. Remember when the Palestinians had a similar malfunction that blew up their own hospital or at least its parking lot. Those things happen too. Further investigation is needed. You can't hate the media enough.

Some of the Iranian missiles and drones will get through until they run out or we blow them all up. The Allies had complete air domination in 1944-45 and the Germans still killed 40,000 with their V1 and V2 weapons. The loss of 7 US service members to similar weapons is tragic but so is Friday night in Chicago.

There is a meme out there presumably from Israeli sources. One panel shows a rabbi greeting Cyrus the Great. The other shows a young Iranian woman greeting an Israeli soldier. The caption is "A debt repaid after 2500 years. " Israelis clearly want the regime gone but retain gratitude for Persians. For the historically challenged, it was Cyrus that released the Jews from the Babylonian Captivity.

JoAnna Shaw's avatar

The result is the bloodiest, costliest, and most morally bankrupt era in human history. The long term effect is the destruction of the systems of the world that if properly led, could have brought peace and prosperity to the whole world. But instead has led to the possibility of the end of life on the planet. I remain hopeful because I believe people who are capable of overcoming suffering can create lives of hope and community. Trump is giving them a window of opportunity to reclaim their agency as persons of consequence in our time.

The Ukraine War is all about shoving NATO eastward. Remember the Warsaw Pact? It was the communist East European equivalent to NATO sponsored by the Soviet Union. It doesn’t exist anymore so why does NATO? To pull a quote from Col Douglas MacGregor, USA, Ret., “NATO is a jobs program for unemployed generals”. NATO should have been dissolved when the Soviet Union imploded (socialism/communism doesn’t work folks). Mikhail Gorbachev gave the green light to reunify Germany on the condition that NATO would not move any further east. GW Bush gave him his “word”. Well the West has been breaking it ever since. Russia has been invaded twice in the last two centuries from military alliances on their border so a hypersensitivity to a new one there is completely understandable. But far too many western politicos see Russia as nothing more than a “gas station with nukes” to quote one Senator from AZ named John McCain. Think the whole idea was to break Russia up & let big corporations come in - like Blackrock for example - & divvy up the spoils.

Sad, shortsighted & stupid but that encapsulates the West’s globalist ruling class.

Any country that is stupid enough to take a President at their word has no idea how the US works. The Presidents word is good for as long as they are President and not a single day more than that.
