Good reaction piece, Shasha. A Trump victory would demonstrate just how enfeebled and irrelevant the mainstream press has become. There's a reason why Nickelodeon prime time numbers beat CNN and MSNBC...

It makes me nervous to see so much influence being wielded - and it's all because they are afraid of being called out on Twitter, accused of "normalizing" fascism.

Except the Leftists who dominate Twitter (and the national media) have become the fascists they claim to oppose: blocking speech they don't like, ruining people who veer off the approved path; dressing in black uniforms and smashing in store windows, burning churches, even shooting people are political rallies. I don't think many moderate voters buy into the whole Twitterverse argument that the United States is analogous to Nazi Germany - except maybe when they see black-clad thugs burning buildings and beating people on TV.

Trump made 2016 a referendum on the national media - and won. (While he lost the popular vote, he carried more than 80 percent of all counties nationwide - his support is much broader geographically than that of either Clinton or Biden, whose supporters are clustered in urban enclaves - a point you made during your cross-country trip this summer.)

So I'm not convinced by Twitter or the polls that it's going to be a Biden blowout. I remain open to being proven wrong in two weeks, but the media has repeatedly underestimated Trump's political savvy and repeatedly gotten burned.
