Yet there are humans who have so closely aligned and identified with the Arch-Enemy of humanity that many, like Tucker, find it incredulous that Satan is as real as the human Jesus was, and is. And so thinking of evil in its truly great controversy setting becomes much more real than allegorical. Tucker seems to expect rational people to be much more charitable or humane than the demonic influence allows. ‘What is that?’, he’ll say.
So I cut him slack when it comes to estimates of evil in our world. Like everyone else who professes any relationship to Christ, I pray that the level of maturity improves as life delivers its refining, or degenerating influences.
In the fullness of time, the gift of free agency by the grace of God at the cross will mean that we all receive the consequences of our own decisions. I believe Tucker is on the side of truth ultimately, and that deception is abhorrent to him, as it should be to us. If maturity in pursuit of moral development becomes an issue, pray for the courage and light to be honest with yourself and others.
