I voted for Ron Paul when he ran for POTUS as a Libertarian. He turned me off when he made the comment, referring to GWBush "When fascism comes to America, it will be carrying a cross and wrapped in the Star Spangled Banner," (or something to that effect) and incorrectly attributed it to Sinclair Lewis. The Sinclair Lewis Society debunked the quote, but overall, I just found it objectionable. I'm a professional scientist and the only religion I subscribe to is a toast to my dearly departed friends before I quaff my evening IPA, but I thought it was a particularly mean and ignorant comment for Paul to make. I don't believe it's true.
After hearing Paul say that and then repeated over and over by the usual DNC-Media bobbleheads, most of whom are still practicing the same stupid bobbleheaded horseshit, I did some research on the quote. The closest citable quote I could find to that statement is attributed to Huey Long, who said "When fascism comes to America, it will be called anti-fascism."
