Sasha, The turnaround you've made from a supportive liberal to a patriotic conservative is nothing short of monumental. What's better is your indecisiveness about your commitment.

America is very proud of you, girl. Thank you for being our voice!

Thanks for sharing this in a timely manner! THIS was the real JOY. And makes you realize the Kamala moniker was “appropriation” aimed at cutting the real thing off at the knees. No dice.

Regarding TikTok….the GOP needs to sue the President for an unConstitutional action. I hate to say it as a conservative and Trump supporter. But we need to start following the Rule of Law after 4 years of ignoring it by the Biden admin

The ban violates the 1A and the provision about Bills of Attainder.

The TikTok ban was upheld by a 9-0 vote on the Supreme Court which found no Constitutional violations. So you will need to make your case to the Supreme Court

After all that has happened, Supreme Court decisions are a tactical issue not a moral one.

What? Supreme Court decisions have nothing to do with morality (and neither does anything to do with TikTok). Your statement makes no sense. The SC rules on Constitutionality and that is their only responsibility

The Supreme Court has nothing to do with the Constitution, only politics. And they tack back and forth so as preserve their institutional position. Of course, the practical effect is to make everyone hate them.

It is truly sad for me when someone does not understand the American Constitution and its structure. No, the SC, which is in fact created by Article III of the Constitution and so has everything to do with it, is not political. You know that but are being an asshole for saying otherwise. Everything but and by the very design of the Constitution. No judge in America is supposed to be political, though most judges are elected. The SCs are NOT elected, they are appointed and confirmed in a bipartisan approach. True, it has become more partisan from the Left in the last decade (conservatives still confirm candidates based on qualifications, not based on party, even the very thinly qualified (by SC standards) Kentanji Brown, was approved by (3) Republicans.

Trump better announce a US buyer for TT Monday alongside a 90 day EO. Otherwise he’ll be acting just like Biden (enforcing laws he only agrees with)

Sasha Stone's avatar

I don't think that's going to happen. Trump will make a deal probably to share profits and tighten regulations. I guess we'll see. I'm just glad they opened it up for the inauguration.

It will be a disappointment for this MAGA voter if he ignores the law, even a swampy one. Await tomorrow to see what he has in mind.

The enforcement mechanism is prosecuting the web hosting services and app stores. Seems like they would have a pretty good defense based on what the President said. Anyway, he has been in touch with TikTok and probably a potential buyer which would trigger the delay clause. Hopefully, Congress will repeal or delay further. Sad to see so many conservatives who would rather bash China than to protect Americans.

I was all for the TikTok ban originally. Rand Paul and Thomas Massie helped to change my mind. We can no longer let fear guide our decisions. The result of 9/11 - FISA and warrantless searches. A novel respiratory virus - results in emergency presidential powers, vaccine mandates, and social media censorship. Ban Tik Toc because the Chi Comms own it - stifle the speech of its 170 million US users, adversely affect the 7+ million businesses using the site.

Is it OK that Facebook, Google, X, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, etc. sell our information?

I came across Massie’s 2023 speech regarding TT today on X. He was right on in his reasoning, imploring the House not to censor TT.

Happy New Year, Amaryllis! I missed you. I was thrilled with Trump’s speech tonight. Really. I am MAGA and not at all disappointed. Just the opposite in fact. I hope you and your family are well and find a way to be positive; cuz untruthful cynicism gets boring fast.

Ps watched A Complete Unknown about Dylan. You might like it. I loved it. Take care, amigo.

I’m anticipating a lot of Homanphobia when the deportations start, and Trump pointing to upholding the law as justification. That argument weakens if the EO extension on TT doesn’t include future US buyer.

Hi Amaryllis, indeed together they both made tens of billions. And it was in the private sector and not funded by taxpayers. I am happy for both of them.

This is from NPR on 20Jan2025 and my understanding they are both significantly invested in each of the cryptos;

“…The official "meme coin," known as $TRUMP, was launched on Friday for nearly $6.50 and rose to a high of $73 on Sunday. Hours after his inauguration, it had dropped below $40. It's market cap on Monday was about $7.6 billion, according to CoinGecko.

First lady Melania Trump on Sunday also launched a meme coin, $MELANIA, at nearly $7. That coin also jumped in early trading, nudging above $13 at its height, before dropping below $5 as of Monday afternoon, according to CoinGecko….”

Maybe they didn’t make “tens of billions” and just “billions”; I was hugely excited when typing 😂
