I'm with God, and He ain't with Israel. So, where does that leave you??

Lzy's avatar

God is with Israel. Where does that leave you?

MrKudzu's avatar

You are mistaken, God doesn't take sides. If your 'god' condones the slaughter of innocents and the stealing of their land, you are worshiping the devil.

Seva's avatar

Did God tell you he’s okay with Israel dropping 2,000 lb bombs on the Palestinians?

I am going to decline to comment out of respect for Sasha Stone and her subscribers. I think this topic only divides us and for little to no benefit. We have a bigger fight this month.

Sasha Stone's avatar

Thanks and agree. What hasn't been said? Anyway, I posted this in case people want to watch their speeches.

Seva's avatar

“What hasn’t been said?”

I did watch their speeches and what hasn’t been said is that their thinking on this issue is delusional and their commitment to following Israel’s lead over the cliff into the abyss does not bode well for our future.

Steve Bicker's avatar

What’s the alternative?

Seva's avatar

That’s for Israel to decide but why do we always have to follow their lead? What’s in it for us? This country is falling apart and all the pigs who rule can think of doing is to keep shoveling weapons and money into Ukraine and Israel. This is insane.

Kidbuck's avatar

If a fight breaks out it's generally best to stay out of it.

David White's avatar

What hasn't been said? Well, I am going to tell. ("He's going to tell! He's going to tell!...)

There are four cases where Lefties should, but for the most part do not, direct attention to oppression: 1) Whites oppressing Whites in N Ireland (Protestants and Catholics) , 2) Browns oppressing Browns in Turkey (Turks and non-Turks (Kurds or other Iranians), and 3) Blacks oppressing Blacks in central Africa (Tutsis and Hutus), and 4) Israelis oppressing Arabs in Israel.

So what is the Great Righteous Principle that explains Lefty dis-interest in the first three cases? Absence of a Skin-Color Divide. Ah, but as soon as there is a *skin color divide*, then the Great Lefty Racial Morality Play kicks in: "Evil White Oppressors!" Other "sub-racial genetic differences, which clearly exist in the first and third cases given at the outset, are not relevant.

I'm going to tell something else as well: what a solution could be. Swapping NE Israel for the western half of the West back, giving the Arab Quarter of Jersulem to the Arabs, and having Gaza be independent. (I know the Egyptians do not want it.)

So maybe now I can enjoy my ill-defined "privileges" that I supposedly got from becoming a premium member (or perhaps "White Knight"). I do have one in mind, one that is consistent with the Femo-Philiac gene that I (along with one of my brothers) evidently inherited from my mother's father ... Not to mention consistent with what Tracey said to Isaac when giving him a birthday present in Woody Allen's Manhattan ... (Something like "It isn't filthy" And yes, I am taking what might well be referred to as "the pre-filthy" interpretation of Woody Allen.)

Richard's avatar

For most of history, Gaza was Egyptian. Now that the Assyrians, Seleucids, Romans, Ottomans, Canaanites, and Philistines are gone, the Egyptians get it whether they want it or not. Make the UK pay them for dealing with the mess the UK created.

Richard's avatar

I appreciate you not wanting to drive Sasha into a fight she doesn't want. However, it was inevitable with this post so I am in. You may not be interested in wat but war is interestethat. d in you..

I am more interested in self defense than most people here so I thought I would post about that. People should get interested before it is too late.

Seva's avatar

“People should get interested before it is too late.”

It already is too late. The only bright spot I see is AI but it seems that our collapse is happening faster than AI is advancing.

Richard's avatar

It may be too late to prevent the collapse but something will come after that. Life is likely to get nasty, brutish and short so it behooves everyone to have the skills and mindset. Even if the collapse doesn't happen, those are valuable assets. It is my perception that a lot of people on this stack are like Sasha. Refugee democrats who have given up on getting their party back and are unlikely to have the mindset much less the skills.

David White's avatar

What's to stop AI from having the skills? Even, in time, the manual labor skills?

And what will that do to the value of people with the skills?

Richard's avatar

Talking about skill with arms. Probably possible to get AI powered robots with that but the human version is not based on economics so that will persist. And who trusts the tech oligarchs.

Seva's avatar

I trust Elon. He’s on our side. That’s why the democrats hate him. He called their Woke faith a “mind virus.” They’ll never forgive him for insulting their Woke faith.

David White's avatar

Since I am not as up as I should be on AI fighting machines, I will not comment on those. What I have already seen, years ago, is more than scary enough.

But as for the "tech oligarchs", why would they need "trust" when they have *power*?

Sghoul's avatar

The AI being made by people who want to manipulate us? If they win the race, it will not be the savior you think it is.

David White's avatar

I think that Big Brother (an Elitist pretending to be a Leftist) is already powerful enough to block any inconvenient truisms coming from AI.

Seva's avatar

We already are deeply divided and this topic is far too big to be swept under the rug and ignored plus what these people here ignore is that Israel is every bit as deeply divided as America. Secular Jews in Israel hate Netanyahu with a passion. They believe, with good reason, that the unguarded southern border allowed Oct 7 to happen and that this led to the disastrous situation they’re now in and this has already dragged us into it. Most of these people here believe that once Israel and America destroy the Islamic crazies in the Middle East life will return to normal and all will be well. This is what John Mearsheimer and Glenn Greenwald call “delusional thinking.”

Bobby Lime's avatar

If you wonder about how the invasion could have happened, read N.S. Lyons' Substack which analyzes it. That particular edition is not behind a paywall.

David White's avatar

I am going to decline to decline to comment, out of respect for rhetorical consistency and its evil twin, rhetorical hypocrisy.

But I will post my comment below.

Richard's avatar

The only criticism I have of the Israeli government is disarming its own people. Imagine trying a terrorist attack liike that in Texas or Switzerland. The attackers, not the residents, would have been massacred. Probably would have made the response less violent, too. I guess this is being fixed but not fast enough. As for the Palestinians, FAFO for the 500th time.

Good Humor by CK Steefel's avatar

I once asked an Israeli why the citizens aren't armed. She said because the police and IDF are everywhere. Well, not on Oct. 7. Israelis are now arming themselves in record numbers as are American Jews.

Richard's avatar

Military is the offensive force to go after the terrorists in their lairs. Police is the reaction force to reinforce the militia at need. Bur the militia is the first line defense.

Seva's avatar

Why was the border with Gaza so unguarded on Oct 7? Where were the soldiers? They’d been redeployed to the West Bank to help settlers steal Palestinian land. You have no problem with that but I do.

The Shiite Islamist (not Islamic, there is a difference) agenda that wants to create a theocratic Caliphate all over the Middle East through the Iranian Regime and its proxies is the real issue. It’s a power struggle between that faction and the many other nations in the area whose are moderate and/or Sunni, and willing to make peace with Israel & utilize its strength for their coalition. This is the real story. Trump’s Abraham Accords were historic and created a pathway for normalized relations with Israel abd nations like Bahrain, UAE, and Morocco. The Saudis were on the precipice before the Gaza/Hezbollah war started. We hear so little about these other nations, but they are the key to Middle Eastern peace. If the US would just stop simping for Iran’s nuclear program and get out of the way, a peace through strength will happen. I am praying for that.

Ed Y.'s avatar

Palestinians and Muslims want to completely annihilate Israel. They are the ones wishing for and calling for a genocide. Anything Israel does is justified as self defense. Hamas could easily end this by negotiating a surrender and returning the hostages. Yes, war is ugly but sometimes necessary to eliminate evil. Trump’s administration wiped out ISIS. Hamas is no better than ISIS. They teach their children to hate Jews. They use their children and women as shields or missile fodder to gin up sympathy when there is collateral damage. Hamas and Hezbollah need to be completely destroyed.

I have seen it and it was tiny compared to what Israel has done to Gaza which is demonic. When the IDF entered Rafah in the south they blew up their water filtration plant to greatly reduce their amount of drinkable water. It’s absurd to justify such war crimes by calling them self-defense.

I haven’t always had a Biblical perspective, but do now. It changes everything. Growing up with a secular heart for Jews because of the holocaust is one thing. I was brought up loving the Jews because of the atrocities they endured. I’m a Christian, born again, learning the history, the Bible. It helps so much to understand. I have a heart for the Jews, for Israel in a whole new way.

I appreciate you, Sasha, for noodling out your thoughts for your readers. Artfully. Thoughtfully.

Good! Go, Israel!

Seva's avatar

Your love of death and destruction is demonic.

Juju's avatar

This issue is complex enough that over here in America having honest opinions on either side is possible and understandable without having any “evil” origins. Making outright character assassinations like this is cruel and uncalled for. So … people either agree with your perspective wholly or are demonic now? Really? You need to check yourself.

Thoughtful and meaningful dialogue is necessary with this issue and it ALL falls apart when people start to post comments like this. And then what have you accomplished? You wake nobody up to your ideas this way. I’ve found many of your replies thoughtful and appreciated reading them to help me understand a viewpoint different from mine, but you discredit ALL of them when you say something like this. Anger is not an excuse. Do better.

Pancho's avatar

As someone who has fought, lived in the Central Asia, the Middle East for six years. It is a fight that many of us can not comprehend. Israel is on the moral ground high ground. It is not perfect, like the US, but there is no comparison. The difference between the US, UK and the Nazi regime and USSR was as stark as what you see in MENA today. I support Israel, but I would not get the US involved, or spend ONE RED CENT over there. Today, we are in some way supporting all sides with money. It's stupid.

Seva's avatar

I was watching Breaking Points earlier today and Krystal said that polling in Israel shows a quarter of Israelis thinking of leaving. They probably have dual passports and know they’d be far safer here than in Israel which was always supposed to be the safe place for the world’s Jews. Not so safe anymore.

BRIAN CAM's avatar

It's all about death to America Iran and it's so-called allies. Trump had Iran contained with sanctions and basically broke. I am hoping that Trump comes back and with Israel's help finishes off this death to America death to Israel cult that is currently in control of Iran.

You say that you think Trump and JD Vance are on the right side, Sasha.

That statement did not require dehumanizing anyone.

It does say where you stand, whether you intend it to or not.

I’m happy to hear it.

There is an end in sight if Trump/Vance win. Maybe even if Harris/Walz do,in spite of them.

BradK (Afuera!)'s avatar

Weak, ineffective cowards posing as leaders love war.

Marilyn F's avatar

Maybe it’s the type of media I’m influenced by, but I’ve always felt that Israel has to be sick of the continued harassment by their neighbors. It seems as though Israel finally snapped because their neighbors went too far. They want to end the abuse once & for all. I don’t blame them because I’d probably do the same thing.

"Never leave an enemy behind or it will rise again to fly at your throat! " - Shaka Zulu

Seva's avatar

Shaka became insane and started killing his own people. He was then assassinated. Is this how Netanyahu will end up? Excerpt below is from Wikipedia.

“Dingane and Mhlangana, Shaka's half-brothers, appeared to have made at least two attempts to assassinate Shaka before they succeeded, with support from the Mpondo elements and some disaffected iziYendane people. Shaka had made enough enemies among his own people to hasten his demise. It came relatively quickly after the death of his mother, Nandi , in October 1827 and the devastation caused by Shaka's subsequent erratic behavior. According to Donald Morris, Shaka ordered that no crops should be planted during the following year of mourning, no milk (the basis of the Zulu diet at the time) was to be used, and any woman who became pregnant was to be killed along with her husband. At least 7,000 people who were deemed to be insufficiently grief-stricken were executed, although the killing was not restricted to humans; cows were slaughtered so that their calves would know what losing a mother felt like.”

Seva's avatar

“I do not see Israel as the oppressor.”

Glenn Greenfield, Norman Finkelstein and most of the world think you’re wrong. Israel leveled most of Gaza with 2,000 lb bombs dropped on densely populated civilian neighborhoods, schools and mosques. That’s not war. That’s genocide/ethnic cleansing. That is evil. Israel is also working to destroy the West Bank and create a 20 mile buffer zone in Lebanon to protect northern Israel. They started by using 85 2,000 lb bombs to kill the leader of Hezbollah who was in civilian neighborhood there. Killed 500 hundred and destroyed the neighborhood. So far they’ve killed an estimated 5,000 people in Beirut. Why though is it called self-defense when Israel kills thousands but terrorism for Hezbollah to shoot rockets into Israel, injuring few, to get Israel to stop killing Palestinians?

This is not just some issue on the other side of the world that won’t affect us. Since our ruling class requires us to follow Israel’s lead we are now directly involved in these Middle East wars. Israel is a global pariah state and America’s global credibility and leadership ability are gone. Russia is already closely allied with Iran and China has said that Israel’s attacks on Lebanon are unacceptable. So this has greatly strengthened strengthened the Russia, China led BRICS and is rapidly escalating to WW3 with America/NATO/Israel vs Russia/China/Iran and all so Israel can have secure borders while ours are wide open. This is just another lack of a common reality and just another example of why I believe humanity is too dysfunctional to survive and only AI can save us. We’ll soon see about that.

How many civilians in Germany did the Allies kill in WWII? Or Japanese? We did not start that war any more than Israel started this one.

What's the matter with you? Wise up, partner.

Seva's avatar

Our destruction of Germany and Japan during WW2 was cheered on by the world due to the war crimes committed by these armies in Europe and Asia. Big difference now when most of the world is appalled by what Israel is doing and considers Israel a pariah state. Plus after WW2 it was internationally agreed that the total war against civilian populations in Germany and Japan such as the fire bombings of cities was wrong. The Geneva Conventions were then created to stop the slaughter of civilians during war. Those rules have been tossed in the garbage by Israel and America so now we’re back to anything goes during war. Our global civilization is collapsing and rapidly heading for WW3.

Richard's avatar

When the Transportation Plan (to seal of Normandy from German reinforcement) was presented , Eisenhower was told that it would lead to the deaths of 40,000 French and Belgian civilians. He approved it anyway. Fortunately, the Air Force was wrong, as usual.
