While 99% of the credit goes to President Trump it must be acknowledged that a profoundly more engaged and energetic population of voters than perhaps ever before has contributed greatly toward herding those feral Republican representatives and senators into line.

They know we’re very much paying attention and their positions are on the line if they thwart the President’s agenda.

Keep the pressure UP!!

I would like to think that what you’re saying is true; but both parties are so unresponsive in so many ways, especially the Dems. How can it be that 60-70% of the people can be against something, and yet politicians will rationalize away or decide that they just know better, because . . .and that’s not representation.

Great. The next thing that needs to happen now is for Jerome Powell to be fired. At best, he is a table-pounding ideologue about tariffs: "beliefs not affectable by evidence". At worst, he is trying to sabotage Trump by seizing on tariffs as a pretext. Either way, by keeping interest rates high he is dramatically increasing interest payments on the deficit, gee thanks. And either way, he should be gone. Yesterday.

The CPI inflation rate is staying stubbornly above the Fed's desired rate of 2% or less; by another index inflation is more like 3% annually. Trump wants the Fed to lower short term rates to below the inflation rate, i.e. a negative real short term rate. That is a prescription for higher inflation. Higher inflation would destroy Trump's approval rating, as it did Biden's. That would result in the far Left Democrats coming to power in 2028. Trump is too mentally lazy, too uninformed to know these facts.

Matthew J Florio's avatar

Powell himself admits that all the targets for rate reduction have been met. He's just pretending he can see the future to stick his thumb in Trump's eye.

Expand full comment
David White's avatar

The Fed's current interest rate is about 2 points higher than the inflation rate. Not too many years ago, interest rates were zero, and this state of affairs, as theoretically impossible as it might seem, was maintained due to lack of better options.

Kirk said, "the United States is the only country in the world who has people that say they hate it, but never leave it." Amen!

Yeah, all these people who say we are "colonizers," I think they should set the example, by deporting themselves. Send the Gays for Palestine group over to Gaza, and have a rooftop celebration!

Technically, anybody in North America waaaay back to Long long ago, including Indian tribes, technically was a colonizer.

SO WHAT.

Not sure how you arrived at that perspective.

So far in term #2, Trump has verifiably earned just north of $425 million in cash and papered on another $620 million in crypto appreciation, so approx. a billion dollars of additional personal wealth, give or take.

Trump’s federal income‑tax bill on that $1 billion is about $11 million lower for tax‑year 2025. Starting next year, the same level of income would cost roughly $100‑110 million less in tax each year than it would have without the “One Big Beautiful Bill.”

Hmmm....How come you have never complained about Nancy Pelosi and her husband getting 54% returns on their stocks this past year?

And I've never heard you complain about the millions that the Biden family made, from Ukraine and China. 🤔

Expand full comment
Ryan Adams's avatar

Pelosi appears to have been financially clever re stocks. Net gains were in the tens of millions, reflecting well‑timed trades and option plays. Ethical scrutiny continues, but no direct evidence confirms insider trading — only that it raises serious questions.

Re the "Biden crime family", it looks like the Bidens excl. Joe and mostly incl. Hunter made $5-8 million in foreign-linked business analyzing bank wires and testimony and concluding with moderate confidence. Additionall amounts are based on partisan investigations and include partners’ shares (low–moderate confidence).

What can be said with high confidence is Trump's 2nd term (we'll include 8 months starting from Nov 5th) have brought Trump another $1 billion and his bill will reap hundreds of millions of $s of tax savings for Trump.

I don't consider myself a mathematical genius but hundreds of millions of $ and billions of $ are higher than tens of millions of $ to my knowledge.

I also find it unseemly and grifter like to be hawking Trump merchandise at wildly inflated prices to his base. A sucker is born every minute as WC Fields used to say. Maybe more like every second these days.

Back to Joe for a sec. I asked a successful 60 year old maga friend why he was voting for Trump in the 2020 election. He said he disliked the fact that Biden got rich because of his political connections. I didn't press it, but was curious how rich he thought Biden got. Also, I note here time and again that maga folks and pundits "noticed" that Biden was already experiencing signs of dementia by 2020. I haven't heard of many demented people making untold riches. In magaland you can believe what you want to believe. I also note that in Sasha's 4th of July positive karma article "A Virtual Civil War on America's Birthday Can't we all just get along?" she notes "If you do not exist in reality, what he says can mean whatever you want it to." So this delusional, revisitionist thinking is affecting us all maybe? It's satisying to believe you have the correct facts without confirming the facts.

Scott's avatar

Yes, Nancy Pelosi is obviously the smartest person in the whole United States, regarding the stock market.

54% returns!! Wow.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with insider information. 🙄

And I'm sorry, other than the highest officials like President or Vice President, nobody is going to pay $300,000 for a senator to give a 10-minute speech, unless it is a political interest that is looking to find a great way to, under the radar, contribute to that person.

It's ironic that now that the funding for USAID has been cut off, all of a sudden the Democrats are having trouble paying their bills 😂🤣

Hmmm....

Expand full comment
Scott's avatar

You're confusing two different things.

Biden was selling access to the office of the vice president, and making money that way through Hunter Biden.

All the things you brought up with Trump, have to do with the fact that he is making money, with business interests, outside of the Presidency.

Not by selling influence on policy.

Big difference.

Expand full comment
Scott's avatar

Haha, had many issues with dementia already in 2020...

He didn't have to be particularly clever, because he had people like Hunter Biden selling access to the office of vice President under Obama.

And, he was the Big Guy, who always got his 10%...

Not that he's the most truthful person, but I find it curious that Zelensky said out of 180 billion given to Ukraine, 80 billion was missing.

MAGA also appear to love their wealthy elites, particualrly when the wealthiest one in the world helps buy their way in to the top office.

To wit, Trump clearly had multiple single donors contributing in the $100 million+ networth range (Adelsons, Mellon, Elon Musk in later cycles). Biden/Harris did not receive any such mega-contribution from a single donor in 2020.

It's like Oprah and Whoopi, counting their millions of dollars that they made in a capitalist society, telling everybody else that the United States is severely racist and minorities can't be successful in this country. Since when? They're not an example of somebody doing well, in the USA?

Theyre totally denigrating everyone, and this Country, and acting like anyone who is a minority is totally handicapped from being able to do anything in their life in this country...

Harris got 48.3% of the popular vote and Trump got 49.8%. I'm not a statistitian or calculus professor, but 48.3% doesn't seem that much lower than 49.8%. If 48.3% is lipstick on a pig, what is the other under 50% vote getter?

Mind you, Trump framed his triumph with much pomp and circumstance - as a sweeping mandate delivered by the American people, reflecting divine intervention in his survival, celebrating an overwhelming and unexpected victory, and promising national restoration, unity, and prosperity. Mind you, since he didn't win the popular vote in 2016 but said he did and didn't win the election in 2020 but said he did, he must finally be relieved to say he won without lying at least. So he embelishes a bit. So what, as long as the gullible base believes it. Falling for a liar and a con. Really now! This is how far we've advanced in the oh so great America as of July 4th 2025.

Which Bernie left wing billionaire became a billionaire in office? If you're talking Sanders, in reality he became a millionaire in the $2-$3 million range, hardly difficult in America by the time you're 83 and famous. He gained wealth mainly through book writing and real estate gains, not corporate ties or high‑paid speaking gigs. His financial records and public disclosures consistently reflect a humble, middle‑class ethos. You're worrying me... giving me conspiracy vibes again.
