I take consolation in the reality that the people who think they are on the "right side of history" because they think they are writing that history are horribly deluded. The history of our times that future generations will read won't be written by some woke Western urban elite - it's going to be some brown-skinned person in India, or China, or Indonesia or Nigeria.
And it's not going to be a flattering look at the Western elites who betrayed their own civilization.
India and China alone are home to two-thirds of the world's population. Indonesia will have more residents than the U.S. in 15 years' time. Nigeria is also growing not only in numbers, but economically as well. As these large nations and cultures continue to come into their own, they're not likely to care what a shrinking Europe or increasing adolescent U.S. think.
Whatever the new "normal" becomes, I'm less and less confident it will be what we are living through now.
We've taken a cultural foundation provided for us by imperfect giants and tossed it aside in pursuit of infantile perfection.
This gathering, totalitarian storm is getting me down. Think I'm going to skip the Super Bowl and rent Ninotchka tonight to soothe my soul.
I have beer and chips and salsa! :)

I think history will prove them wrong but if this is the new normal?
