I thought his comment at the cabinet meeting was charming - he was wearing 2 hats and he said I wear many hats and even my hat wears a hat. He always looks like he's having fun. What a blessing for our country he is.

Him buying Twitter may have single handedly saved Western Civilization.

Cosmo T Kat's avatar

Saving Western Civilization is a much larger task, but by buying Twitter he saved us from total narrative control and it offers a platform for truth to eke out slowly, but surely and this is why progressive democrats cannot stand him or the idea that anyone could possibly think differently about the purpose of our lives other than being cattle to be exploited and turned into raging mentally ill nut jobs.

Elon Musk, the most accomplished African-American of our time, invested a colossal fortune not for personal gain but to preserve freedom of speech in the United States.

We came so close to losing it, witness anti-First Amendment statements by leading Democrats like John Kerry and Ketanji Brown Jackson.

Thank you, Elon!

So... nothing to do with ego and personal gain through favorable trump deals?

Les Vitailles's avatar

Nope, nothing

Why would a successful African American with a $450B fortune need a few deals worth a couple billion at most? After all, he spent $44B of his own money to buy Twitter and save freedom of speech.

This isn't Nancy Pelosi or Bernie Sanders, for which $2B really is a lot of money.

Shrugged. And rightly so.

Others buy super-mega-yachts, Musk buys things on principle.

There’s actually nothing wrong with super mega yachts. Building them and crewing them and servicing them and repairing them employs people. That is not a bad thing.

How can you compare billionaires who lost money due to their political activism (Musk and Trump) to dedicated politicians like Pelosi and Obama who had NO DEMONSTRABLE SOURCE OF INCOME besides their political position, yet are multimillionaires? How ffing stupid are you?

In 2007, Obama's net worth was estimated to be $1.3M. During the presidency he made millions from book sales and after included speaking fees & consulting. Unlike Trump, he released his tax returns,

His biggest payday was not his books, they were fraudulent, but from Netflix. And what ha e has produced is dreck. The rest, speaking fees and consulting, are what political connections assure for a comfortable life. Do you think listening to that putz drone on is worth $100K a plate? Do you think Hillary Clinton has anything to offer anyone beyond expensive networking for the rich who get their itch for confirmation bias assuaged by extremely shallow hucksters?

You may not like the content of his books but that doesn't mean the book deals were "fraudulent." Trump is the biggest grifter of all, grabbing money anyway he can - launching a meme coin that’s added billions of dollars in paper wealth to his net worth (after causing followers to lose thousands), selling bibles, Chinese watches, gold tennis shoes.... He wrote "The Art of the Grift"!

Trump is ALWAYS holding dinners for his billionaire donors - In Apr as stocks lost value, he held a $1M/plate dinner at Mar-a-lala for MAGA Inc, a super PAC that supports him; hours after the U.S. military strike on Houthi forces on Mar 15, which highlighted the incompetence of his Sec of Defense, Hegseth, Trump and WH officials held a secret celebratory dinner which charged guests $1M/plate.

On Apr 26, 2025, in a wealthy Georgetown neighborhood in Washington, D.C, a club opened called the “Executive Branch,” an invitation-only club backed by Donald Trump Jr .and megadonor Omeed Malik which costs $.5M to join. The exclusive club is designed to allow top business executives to talk privately with Trump advisors and cabinet members! And Trump followers believe Trump cares about the "working class."

Don't forget that Musk spent $290M to buy the election for Trump!

This is peanuts compared to George S0r0s and others on the left. It's so funny how you're constantly reaching to denigrate Trump (and now Musk).

She’s right- Elon is a hero. Without him & Trump we’d be in a communist world of hurt. They’re not perfect but both working hard & at great cost to maga. There’s not one Democrat that gives a damn. RFK jr. said in today’s cabinet meeting that Biden’s HHS was responsible for 300k minors missing & enslaved in labor or sex trafficking. He’s got people working on that. Another hero.

Thanks for a well thought-out tribute to the greatest visionary of our time. History will (eventually) regard Elon as a true American patriot who helped save freedom of expression for all of us, and hopefully, the world. May god protect him from his many, many former fans who now wish him dead.

The turning point for me was Twitter. At that point whatever skepticism I harboured about him and certain of his prior antics evaporated. Now he has proven himself a larger than life heroic patriot. A strong argument can be made that he averted our immanent demise as a country. It’s not over. But he made a BIG clutch hit.

Elon is a true American hero. Thanks for your tribute. I wasn’t on Twitter or X until Trump won, and I didn’t start using it til the inauguration. I’m an older Gen X and I don’t love it, but I do pop in every day and scroll through quickly, make a few comments here or there. I am glad I can do it freely - if Elon hadn’t bought it I can’t imagine where we’d be as a nation.
