The Democrats have nothing to offer except smears and insults. They're striving for a 10% public approval rating.

But they'll get away with it just as Harry Reid got away with defaming Mitt Romney. Here's why:

Article I, Section 6, Clause 1:

“...for any Speech or Debate in either House, [Senators and Representatives] shall not be questioned in any other Place.”

You can't sue them.

Do you read conservative sites or even Sashas site?? Politics is dirty, messy and nasty and Matt Talibi admits to uses very broad vulgar language when defining people he hates.

Now the biggest cases the libel was successful they attack NON-POLITICAL people. Like Sandmann vs CBS and Info wars Alex Jones vs the victims of the shooting. But Matt Talibi is a well-known political shock jock and does his own fair share of that use of language.

Expand full comment
Owain Glyndŵr's avatar

Sorry. Still not following. I'm on Sasha's stack. Yes, I read other conservative stacks and even some leftist sites, ok, browse the leftist sites. What does Sandmann vs CBS have to do with the thread?

Yeah, Taibbi can get vocal. Bongino, Bannon etc. So...

What does that have to do with a sitting congress critter (rep from CA) going after Taibbi on social media? Sure, as Taibbi noted on his stack:

"There is not much a person like me can say to a member of Congress hiding behind the protections of the Speech and Debate clause of the Constitution.

One can however respond to a member arrogant enough to repeat those claims on social media."

This sitting congress woman (I think it's a she) went beyond bounds, as a private citizen, perhaps even more so as a Congressional Representative.

Who is 'he', Taibbi?

What personal insults from, 'he' to who?

And again, what does this have to do with the lawsuit that Taibbi has filed?

Yes but the bar and proof of damages is much higher for political figures and Matt Talibi is a political figure today. He has to prove the damage to his name and substantial loss of revenue is 10 million worth.

There is a component of the human psyche, Steve, known as the empathy spectrum. Where you have zero empathy at one polar end (the Cluster-B types and addicts) and uber-empathy at the other polar end (the Goodists).

Life at either polar end will cause trouble. At the zero empathy end, it causes trouble for others. At the uber-empathy end, it causes trouble for the Goodist individual (the Disease to Please).

The ideal is homeostasis. The middle ground. A good principle to know in life.

I was horrified when I saw this woman treat Matt with such disgust and disrespect, I was appalled.

I responded to Matt's article about the lawsuit and I told him that if there's any way I could help, to just let me know.

In the meantime, I told Matt I would hand write a letter to the congress woman. I'm going to remind her, that when an American speaks to her in an official capacity, her duty is to be respectful and listen.

I am hoping that a letter may have more impact, than just responding on X.

Thanks Sasha for bringing this lawsuit to the forefront. I agree, “Go Matt!”

These demented Dems think that whatever they believe justifies whatever they do, even if it is proven that they are wrong. Awesome, time to make those clowns in congress pay for their baseless smears. I remember when Matt Taibbi was at the Rolling Stone exposing the corrupt big bank bailouts and I was sort of blue pilled by his unflinching descriptions of the abuse and corruption of those bailouts. Nice to see that he has been red pilled by the censorship regime and corruption endemic in the Democrat Party.
