I wish to hell someone on the left actually had any idea of the definitions of Nazism and fascism. Nazi is a German contraction for National Socialism. Yeah. Socialism. Totalitarian government. No freedom of speech. Kill Jews. That was Nazism. Fascism also totalitarian government, no freedom of speech. Crony capitalism. Kill those who disagree. Both were the antithesis of what Charlie stood for. Those who called him such names are idiots.
His enemies mostly are socialists who hate freedom of speech and want to kill Jews. Maybe “just” those in Israel but their Hamas heroes want to kill all Jews everywhere. And kill those like Charlie who disagree with them.
I wonder if they look in the mirror if they see Nazis and fascists. They should, since they agree with the essence of Nazism and fascism
We are all so tired of the leftist screed. It's long past time to shut this sh-t show down. If it takes prayer vigils and silent protest marches with thousands of American flags in the streets, then let's do it. If it takes public shaming and exposure of real names from those who send out horrific celebratory posts, then let's do it. These people need a severe public spanking by all of us, and they need some corner cowering for a while. And anyone wants to up the anty with violence, then long prison sentences and seizure of assets to pay reparations.
And who will start it? You? The first thing we need to see is a public execution of this killer. Our Christian mixture of grace and force is stupidly mixed for these times.
My mind keeps going to those youth bands under Pol Pot. I always wondered how that happened, but seeing these raving, psychopathic, violent young people is a clue. I blame the media and academia for this thorough brainwashing as we could not have reached this pitch without their endless barrage of misinformation and twisted propaganda. They should be getting those award statues for extraordinary achievement in propaganda.
How we respond determines how fast we walk down the road to actual civil conflict, perhaps now unavoidable, and at least institutional collapse and confrontation (with various local and state governments refusing to obey or recognize the federal government, amid regulatory collapse and secession in all but name) or generalized mass murder of neighbours and fratricidal violence.
Lest anyone think this hyperbolic, both sides are starting to consider the other an imminent threat to continued survival and completely incapable of co-existence. Every shooting of one side against another, and it seems to be pretty much increasing across the board, and we get more and more people talking about how "those people" need to be dealt with
That movie that came out recently - "Civil War" - is looking more and more like prophecy every day. It could be that we're going to be seeing people killing each other's children within 10-30 years, and ramping up the confrontation until it explodes.
Hard time to say it, but the action-reaction-hyper-reaction, counter-reaction, counter-counter reaction, then the forgetting of who started anything and just generalized bloodletting as friends and relatives butcher each other --
This is how it happens. All the time. it's very, very, very easy to get there.
Possible I'm listening to the freakazoids online. But there's a lot of them, left and right, and it's getting openly ugly.
This is often how it starts. There's a tendency to think that "normal" can continue forever, the "bias to the norm", so we get complacent and think we can do anything without really tipping over the can. Then crazy engulfs us, and we wonder how we got there.
Pretty much all such situations are like that. They don't start out crazy.
And you would counsel which course of action to recipients of the sustained predations of the Left? It is becoming clear that they will simply not let others be.
Better to expend our effort to keep the nation we inherited intact in the current ditch we find ourselves in, rather than in the proverbial last one, no?
It has to be measured. Every time there's overreach, it amps it up.
It's only *ever* the other side's fault, is the point. they will say the same thing, and haul out a hundred examples of this or that, and we'll fight like rabid dogs over minor points of contention, each side 100% convinced in the absolute perfected righteousness of our position but the perfectly evil, demonic vileness of theirs.
The problem is a complete incapacity to even hear each other, and the purity spiral (for example, with the woke) that sends us into the same violent stupor every time.
We think it's about this killing or that ideology or some issue. But look at history. Replace slogans or the names at a funeral or even centuries or millennia or languages and religions.
Our enemy is our instinct to lash out and amplify the response. Doesn't matter if this is the 3rd century BC and riots are about to break out and burn Alexandria down. Could be Paris 800 years ago or a Mayan city with simmering ethnic relations that could be eased but people respond in the same instinctive way.
Each side has existential fears. Unless we do what this fine man did and listen, and not put everything on "scr*wing the other side over as much as possible", then we walk down the same path we humans always do.
Forget all ideology and all issues. Because they are largely irrelevant in the larger picture of us spiraling down the road to collective mass self-destruction.
The sides are evenly split. It's our neighbours, our children, our spouses. Our relatives. People we work with.
And before you say, well, because of that nothing can happen, I will remind us all that fathers butchering sons and brothers slaughtering their brother's families is literally the story of civil conflict in every such spiraling conflict we've ever had.
Just because it hasn't happened in the US that way, YET, means nothing.
If all we want is victory and a field of corpses, with a purified population of people we have ideologically tested, then fine. Self-immolation maybe is what we want.
But all we have to do is look around. We aren't special, and this happens all the time, it's common, there's a ready script for it, and we often default to it.
Do we want this?
Would Charlie Kirk, the man who wanted to talk across all lines, want us to be hunting each other down and getting ready for The Solution?
Because from both sides, there are tons of voices calling for extirpation of the enemy,
No. the problem is not "a complete incapacity to even hear each other." That deafness is one-sided, at least in the last ten years or so. Mr. Kirk talked across all lines and -- in the end -- got assassinated for his efforts.
I'm pretty sure that you and I will likely not understand one another's point of view, and that is okay. Perhaps I am being obtuse. Let me offer something from someone much more gifted in getting what I am trying to say (and maybe, in some part, you as well), across: "Both parties deprecated war; but one of them would make war rather than let the nation survive; and the other would accept war rather than let it perish. And the war came."
I listen to both sides. Both sides claim perfect moral authority. Both sides claim perfect reasonableness. Both sides claim higher values. Both sides claim the other is existentially the opposite of these things.
When it comes down to it, as one side overreacts, and then the other reacts against the overreaction, and then the cycle accelerates--
Your kids will be murdering other people's kids.
At that point, the actual issue becomes more or less totally irrelevant.
I will just point out that perfected righteousness isn't a thing, it's just an attitude. And it's not helpful to anyone.
It's possible only one side is to blame. It's also possible the moon is made of cheese. I'm going to suggest that walking anything back and lowering the temperature requires introspection from everyone, and the generalized silencing of the crazies on all sides.
One of the things we don't do well is shut up the nutjobs among our own ranks. The left obviously has a problem with this, but the right is starting to have an almost comically identical problem.
Unless we enjoy the taste of blood, stepping back from the brink requires everyone to stop playing chicken - not just whoever we think are the bad guys. Because nobody thinks they're the bad guys - every single player thinks they're the flawless hero of the story.
Obviously, that's not true. In fact, a secret is, it's never true. We all carry lots of stupid and vicious in us, and half of what we think is objectively wrong and the other half is suspect. *Everyone*.
Kirk was unusual in that he represented a solid position but also had reasonable attitude in a field of slurs and sneering. He was both principled and capable of bending and hearing others. In fact, lots on the right loathed him for this.
Every time we lose someone like this, left or right, we get closer to mutual suicide.
Leftists never back down, because they stupidly believe they are superior.
They went too far with celebrating Kirk's political assassination. Only they are responsible for their actions and losing their jobs. They are begging on GoFundMe. They'll be OK.
Even the Italian prime minister is upset about Kirk's premeditated assassination. From Instagram:
Every left of centre person? Every single one? Is "all leftists in the world" a thing? Is everyone who doesn't want to raise taxes 1.4% Hitler and therefore the left is right? Is the monolithic right a thing?
"Leftists" isn't a thing, in the same way that a monolithic, mono-mind "right" isn't a thing. The right is composed of often mutually incompatible coalitions of people who have little to do with each other. Same with the left. We forget that.
Maybe, as a response to this murder, we should hunt down every democrat and kill them and their children, or put them in concentration camps? Maybe have ideological purity tests? Maybe sortation camps, like in Russia today, where each person is grilled until we can determine if they should come out of the camp walking or as fertilizer?
Maybe we get rid of democracy, or ban all parties but the Republicans?
Just what should we do?
Because there are all kinds of calls now for things in this vein.
No matter how self-righteous you feel, right now is precisely the time when *each and every step* taken needs to be measured, calm, and meticulously considered for all possible negative side effects.
Because when the conflict starts, and man, is it looking super possible now, or soon enough, anyway, when the conflict starts, all the righteousness in the world doesn't stop your children from dying. And your neighbour's children. And everyone else.
I still believe we can vote our way out of it via Charlie's army. I'm on the non-violent side.
Stephen Miller posted this recently on X:
When you vote for a candidate you are voting not just for a person but for an entire organization. A vast stricture that is employed below, beneath, above and around them.
So when you vote to elect any Democrat you are putting to work an entire governing system: “criminal justice” advocates who will work relentlessly to keep monsters out of prison, officials charged with publicly safety who will instead zealously dismantle it, immigrant lawyers and activists who will work tirelessly to deluge your city with migrants and “refugees”, educators who will indoctrinate your children to hate themselves and their heritage, bureaucrats who are true-believing Marxist radicals running the machinery of government, DEI zealots to enforce their agenda at every agency and every business they can extort, regulators to extract the last drop of productivity out of the economy to enrich leftist NGOs, leftist lawyers and leftist community organizers, and a government staffed at every level by those who lack the skill or vision to build anything but relish the opportunity to unravel everything that makes society beautiful, sacred and whole.
Sasha, thank you. Thank you for being a voice that can articulate from both sides. You have been on what I call, " the dark side" and have seen light.
I was at the Kirk rally today in Beverly Hills. It wasn't huge, maybe 500 people but it felt like a tight knit family. We all grieved but we were together. We were old and young and of all colors.
Cars were honking and giving us " thumbs up". There were a few cars with signs reading " fuck Israel" and the usual crap but we were too busy feeling the love of finally being able to come out of the closet and be proud of who we are.
Rush Libsugh said " the great awakening " is coming and I feel it has. Charlie knew the dangers of his actions and he gave his life to Kickstart this movement. He staerted it at age 18. And did it again as he took his last breath on earth at 31.
He would have been an amazing President.
Now we have the job to carry his message and try to make this world a better place.
Sharing this from FIRE, the group defending free speech that, so far, seems truly beyond taking sides - "First, two children lost their father and a wife her husband. Then people lost their humanity. And now, a nation loses another piece of its soul. This part of the cycle is its own special kind of awful: the cancel culture machine.
It goes like this: A tragedy happens. Someone reacts by celebrating that tragedy for whatever reason. Then the social media mob comes to demand this person be fired, expelled, or otherwise punished for their views.
Time and time again, we resort to this mob mentality when tragedy strikes. When Barbara Bush died. When the Queen died. Rush Limbaugh. Otto Warmbier. George Floyd. After 9/11. After October 7. The attempted assassination of Donald Trump.
As free speech advocates, it places us in a painful position. Charlie Kirk’s assassination was an attack on free speech and open discourse. In a free society, we must not be afraid to express our views, no matter how strongly some might oppose them. That’s the point of free speech. But it is precisely for that reason why we must not respond to mockery of Kirk’s assassination by canceling everyone who offends us: because that too creates a society where people are afraid to express themselves.
Funny Brian kilmeade didn't take the high road for wanting mentally ill homeless people to be lethally injected and got to keep his job with a weak apology. Learn to be empathic to those you hate otherwise you are just another hypocrite in America.
Thank you Sasha. I was worried which stance you would take regarding the mass firings. Ideally, all people should defend our freedoms; however that is not who the modern Left are these days. They started the firing culture and now, they shall reap what they sow.
If they celebrate murder, they can't be trusted to not spit in our food, steal from us, rape us, not give us optimal care in hospitals or nursing homes, not fly a planeload of us into the side of a mountain, or anything else. Murder is as bad as it gets, and they love it; it's only rational to think they're find, too, with all the evils that are less than murder. This goes way, way beyond the Left's "cancel culture" consisting of firing people for their political opinions; this goes to the very basics of humanity and of polite society.
You and Julie wrote brilliant pieces.
Charlie Kirk's political assassination was the ultimate fascist act. Millions saw it.
Leftists never got punished for all their violence, arson and hate since Ferguson.
We will never let them forget Charlie Kirk. Erika Kirk certainly won't.
The lefty women who are hating Erika and her children are demons.
Ed Sheeran's song is beautiful.
Charlie Kirk is a martyr.

Also why do the women wear those unattractive and even disgusting nose rings? They kind of suggest being lead around like an animal.
It's freighting.

Republicans don’t respect Democrats enough to hate them.
