Bernie and AOC aren't going to lead anyone anywhere. Bernie had his shot but was too much of a coward to go after the corruption of the great and powerful Hillary. He talks a lot about going after billionaires but takes money from big Pharma and falls in line with the corrupt Dems on any vote that matters. Plus he's older than Joe Biden.
AOC talks a lot but is too afraid to cross her party masters on any vote that matters.
There may be a version of Leftist populism out there that can challenge MAGA but it will have to come up with some fresh faces to lead it. All the Dems who supported the corrupt Biden administration and its ties to big Pharma and the Ukraine war (which is pretty much every Dem member of congress) are damaged goods.
I think Matt Taibbi is completely off the mark when he says free speech is hanging by a thread. The Mahmoud Khalil case is not about what he said but about who he is. He is not a US citizen and as a Green card holder he is simply not entitled to the same rights as a citizen. Specifically a Green Card holder can be deported if he supports groups that espouse terrorism, which is precisely what Khalil does. We are under no obligation to invite supporters of terrorism into our country. That Taibbi can't, or doesn't want to, understand this, makes me question his judgement.
I agree about Bernie and Sandy Cortez. Bernie always (as in every time) comes across as the Crazy Communist standing on some street corner, eyes bulging out of his raging face, screaming worn-out commie bromides. And Sandy: well, you squint your eyes just a little tiny bit--you can see her fetching Jack n' Cokes in some nondescript Brooklyn bar.
And watch how the commie code words are flying now: Forward! Resist! Change! Remember, 'socialism' is just train station on the way to Communism. They don't really even bother stopping at the 'Socialismville' station any longer. It is, as Sasha says, the final closeup.
As for free speech, like it is said: The solution is:----> more Free Speech!
100% yelling abstract movitational buzz words, 0% actual solutions. They are just throwing a tantrum cause they are locked out of USAID slush funds but Oligarch Soros cheques are enough to finance this phony theater.
But Matt is an important voice. We can’t dump him because he disagrees on this issue. I believe we need more information- if the government has it, they must tell us. But without compromising their case before Judge Boasberg. It’s all in the communication.
Glenn Greenwald and Megyn Kelly provided us with a fantastic example of how to passionately disagree but remain civilized.
Let’s follow that and not jump on anyone who is simply questioning the actions of our Government.
Taibbi and Shellenberger have EARNED the benefit of the doubt. They lost so much when they exposed the Twitter files. Don’t ever forget that.
I have a lot of respect for Taibbi. To take the stands he has taken, which go against people that used to be allies, takes a lot of courage. I will always listen to his point of view even if I think he is wrong. But Matt is also a contrarian by nature and I think he will feel less and less comfortable with some aspects of the MAGA movement, which is his right.
The coalition that came together to defeat the Dem machine was diverse and therefore fragile. We are in the middle of a major political realignment. It remains to be seen how it will all shake out.
Yes, he's 33 years old and apparently has worked in the British Embassy in Beirut for years. So what is he doing with a Green card in this country now? He's not some random student who got caught up in the moment and said a few offensive things because that's what all the cool kids were doing. He's a professional operative of some type. So who is he working for now and why?
Exactly. Very rich of Bernie and AOC to go on "stop the oligachy" tour when oligarch Soros and oligarchs from Black Rock and big pharma are their sponsors. Everyone knows that. Their hands are not clean.
And as you said, neither has the backbone. Bernie folded like a cheap suit as soon as his party ordered him to fall in line and support HIlary and Biden. Ditto AOC who also has a luney tunes sound bites problem on top of having no spine.
Moderate democrats are most likely hoping that these extremists will neck themselves the more they talk and the more Tesla cars they set on fire. I don't believe for a second that there's some organic grassroot movement here. It smacks of astrotufing like Kamala campaign. Bus'd audience, paid townhall hecklers and all that. If the country wanted to go in that direction, it would have shown in the eelction results. What these 'socilaists" are really doing is throwing tantrums cause their slush funds have been scrapped. All those scam USAID programs that they milked dry gone and they can't stand it.
Spot on. He also needs to be respectful of those who disagree, but I wordy he has a very thin skin. There’s no shortage of jerks of all political ideologies, but he seems to dwell on the criticism.
Hah! The first TikToker kimbeekitty, I looked up her TikTok page. She claims in the video that went semi-viral that she is "priveledged" and those of us that are "priveledged" need to speak out for those who are not. I thought that was curious. So I went through her videos. In one she is wearing a name tag. I can't make out the business...but I can tell she is a salesperson\low level floor employee at a corporate storefront, AKA minimum wage. She isn't priveledged: she's practically broke and definitely delusional. As is often the case with the "people" on TikTok, just look under the hood, it's all theater kid nonsense and performative garbage. She couldn't explain Austrian economics, or the difference between Leninism and Marxism. She probably needs to clean her room, and her parents really wish she would move out already.
Speaking of Austrian Eco: The Ludwig von Mises institute, he wrote about the Classical Liberal. They have NOTHING in common with that. But, they don't know that...
I don't know, this sounds alarmist. What ifs and warnings of disasters to come do not move things forward. Just keep pushing common sense, fixing problems and keeping the American dream alive. Good things will follow.
There's no disaster to come. This is Kamala campaign playbook. Astoturfed rallies and townhalls, lots of shouting inspirational buzzwords while offering zero solutions that aren't the generic "defeat Trump" paid by oligarchs who removed Biden from the ticket and installed Harris and who own Democratic Party. which means they didn't want Bernie in 2016 and 2020 but now he's useful so they are funding this charade.
The whole country knows left is throwing hissy fits over USAID money. That's all there is. And if anyone is an oligarchy that's them. Own all legacy media? check. Funded by domestic and foreign oligarchs? check. yeha, this is not going to fly.
The spigot has been shut off, but there's some money still flowing through the pipeline. The Pride parades already seem to be getting deprioritized in favor of funding as much protesting as possible. And that's already gotten so out of hand that they've trotted out Alex Winter to try to tamp things down by calling the Tesla attacks "peaceful protests." It's utterly desparate & beyond pathetic. Plenty of left-leaning people still drive Teslas & only feel further alienated by the notion that they must sell it or be attacked because of a recent change in Musk's personal politics.
No one sane is in any mood to attempt to persuade anyone of sanity anymore. There has never really been any conversation to have with these people & we must move on to simply telling these people what. As in: "We're not arguing, I'm just TELLING YOU WHAT!"😂

Today’s article reminded me how almost all of my favorite repubs, these days, started out as dems who were forced out by their own party. Tulsi (especially Tulsi in 2019 – my hero), Bobby, Elon, even DJT… I'm forgetting a bunch. Sasha, you were in on marginalizing Bernie, because you wanted Hillary to win? You do some karma to work through, eh? – I’m just teasing, sort of.
I’ll admit that I had TDS as bad as anyone in 2015 - 2019, but that was a horrible Hobson’s choice. Matt Taibbi has mentioned how he used to feel closer to the left. Joe Rogan too, etc. The DNC purposefully drove their car into a ditch. Remembering Debbie Wasserman Schultz and her cohorts rudely talking down to Taibbi when he testified before the House about Weaponization of the Federal Government – it still makes me angry.
The biggest factor in overcoming my own TDS is how Trump’s made much of the old republican war party irrelevant. Seeing the Cheneys et al. and the Dems join forces was the last damn straw.
In 2024 the dems outspent the repubs by over 2-to1 trying to get Kamala elected. And now dems are on a crusade to take down Elon because he’s the big bad oligarch? Oh dear, I’m getting the vapors. Carry on please.
Their treatment of Brent Kavanaugh was the beginning of the end for their viability. It's been slowly downhill ever since--but now accelerating. Impact soon?
You can witness TDS clear as day. The individual will toss out any rational whatsoever out the window. It's truly an astounding thing to watch. They did it with Trump and now they are doing it with Elon. Every ounce of logic goes right out the window with these people.
Please God, let the demoncats nominate Bernie for president and AOC for VP. As Brer Rabbit said, "Please whatever you do, don't throw me in the briar patch!"
I've been saying since Biden lost please Lord let the Democrats double, triple down on everything that they have been trying to do the past four years. Please please continue to speak that's that your message.
And the democrats, one prays, have learned their lessons - baby steps! less and perhaps no woke (whatever that means to each and all)! no women presidents!
Instead, talk about what's in it for me, like the ability to live a decent life with a few pennies to spare! Sorta like what Trump promised but clearly not where we're headed and where the wreckage is yet to be determined.
At the rate we're going what with tariffs threatening to make all things even more expensive and the world hating and boycotting all things American!, in a few years it won't matter who they elect.
Ryan, what's your problem with a woman as POTUS ? Just because the DemoRatz come up with terrible candidates, it doesn't mean there aren't some women who would have outstanding leaders that Republicans could have nominated. Two ( admittedly not around right now) IMO: Liddy Dole & Condi Rice. Would you object to them?
I have no issue with a woman as POTUS but MAGA sure seems to. Dole & Rice seem fine and certainly of high intelligence vs. current, but I'd have to delve further. But since they also do not seem welcome in MAGA, likely a moot point.
He's too mutant: impaired by a gene that causes Youthful Idealism to persist indefinitely. And why is it that Youthful Idealism, in neurologically normal persons, fades away? Negative evidence. The most fundamental form of reasoning is "X => Y, not Y, not X". Totally over his befuddled and ideology-addled head.
Zero chance of either getting nominated. Democrats are completely owned by their donors (aka oligarchs these clows are "fighting" against). They won't pick "trash the system" candidate even if he or she is their useful idiot when needed to destablize Republican government. They'll pick another establishment tool like Hilary, Biden and Harris.
Bernie - a guy who has taken 24 million from the medical cartel and voted against RFK jr. , even though he agreed with many of his policies, because he himself has sold out to big money. Good riddance Bernie!
2028 - Bernie & AOC -- it's already in the pipeline. A woman who snarls at the thought of the patriarchy doesn't mind playing handmaiden if it will boost her up the greasy pole. As to Matt Taibi and the hysterics calling out the right over stomping on free speech too zealously, because of the deportation of visa holders who seek to foment violence in this country -- quit being such weak-kneed sisters. I think it's because that group has recently shifted from the far left that they are queasy about examining free speech itself within the confines of violence and don't quite "get it." Not just everything goes under the First Amendment.
Mr Khalil is an obvious spook, having spent his entire adult life in UK-connected NGOs dedicated to "education & soft power." This is a great way for MI6 to reassign him while also building his cred!
Regarding 1984, I found it seriously ironic that the Left started wearing those “Make Orwell Fiction Again” shirts during Trump’s first term, even though the Democrats were acting much more Orwellian, especially during Biden. Truly living in the upside down world!
One of my most woke F*cebook friends changed his profile picture to the “Make Orwell Fiction Again” slogan last year and then changed it back after the election.
I still don't think he understands his participation in it, the projection is so deep.
One of the big problems is going to be that there is not going to be another Trump. JD might be able to carry the torch forward but that remains to be seen. Trump was willing to give up a lot to do what he believes is the right way for this country going forward, ever who is next will have to do the same for they will be cursed and vilified and the average citizen would cave
When I voted for Trump, I assumed it was going to be a 12 year run. JD will have four years to learn before taking over. Trump will do the heavy lifting, then turn it over.
And look at the strength of his cabinet. Not counting Dakota Barbie, it's full of studs who will have his back.
IMO, Republicans should have a primary instead of falling in line behind JD. People respect earned nominations. Kamala's big problem aside being clueless is that she never earned anything. She was installed.
Moreover, primary is a great way to introduce new stars and test the appeal of those who were believed to be new stars. DeSantis may be a terrific crisis manager but he didn't connect outside of Florida and came behind Niki Hailey. OTOH, Vivek emerged as the one to watch. The stringth of the party are many stars not just one. Obama's problem was that there was no one but him which is why his legacy didn't last.
No need. all that dirty laundrey will be aired if they run. their democratic competitors will gleefully ask that question and play the looniest quotes on a loop.
IMO, it's much worse for them to have someone (real or psy op) yell "bring back the guillotine" and that getting amplified on spcial media because it shows the craziness of their movement.
The pendulum swings wider now. If the political resettlement of the next 80-100 yrs is Trumpian—muscular corporatism focused on domestic production and limited international arrangements—we will remain fundamentally free, wealth distribution TBD. If we do swing back for whatever reason, then it will be something more akin to socialism with a totalizing edge to it.
pendulum akin to socialism with totalizing edge to it already happened during Biden administration. Media becoming the agitprop for Democratic party. State having the power over people's decisions such as vacination. Forced equality through DEI. Lawfare. Censorship. You lived in a socialist country but couldn't recognize it. 2024 election rejected that. Mind you, there's still half of the country that wants it but it isn't 70-80% of it.
Taibbi is wrong on this one. He has stated that he was naive before. I can't remember whether it was Twitter censorship or COVID. He is again. Hamas, with which this guy is affiliated really is genocidal. Israel can take care of that themselves but what we are seeing is the US branch of the global Infatada. So far, it has only involved harassment of American Jews, many of whom don't support Israel, combined with attempts to drive them out of public spaces with assaults. Assault is a crime and invalidates his green card. Plus I would bet that he lied on his application which is also a deportable offense. This is not a free speech issue. The authorities in big cities and universities where all this is going on are perfectly happy to see violence and harassment against Jews, so the Federal government is obligated to step in per the Civil Rights act.
Hey Richard, I respect your view but disagree with it in that we are being very selective about who we censor while at the same time ignoring all sorts of other protesters that hold the opposite view. Essentially we censor one side of the argument, or did I miss the anti Palestinian censorship executive order?
The “anti-Palestinian side” is committing genocide/ethnic cleansing which is fully supported and enabled by America. This has destroyed America’s global leadership ability and moral credibility. Shame on you for supporting such Satanically evil crimes.
Torn bodies soon streamed in, carried by ambulances, donkey carts or in the arms of terrified relatives. What stunned doctors was the number of children.
“Just child after child, young patient after young patient,” Rokadiya said. “The vast, vast majority were women, children, the elderly.”
“As Israeli bombs fell, wounded children overwhelmed this Gaza hospital. Dozens died.”
Unfortunately our protesting the killing of over 50,000 women and children, wounding another 100,000, starving and making homeless another 100,000 civilians, all with US bombs and money, fall on deaf ears here because Israel can do no wrong even when it slaughters in its ethnic cleansing campaign against Palestinians. Israel could kill every single Palestinian child and most here would not criticize it. It’s astonishing. Take care, Marine. At least most of the veterans seem opposed to it.
Sometime in late 1863, Grant, Halleck, and Lincoln came to the conclusion that Richmond could not be taken by purely military means: it would be necessary to wage economic warfare. But economic warfare, if it succeeds very well, causes starvation. ("As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again!") It has been estimated that 6 million Confederates died.
In World War One, a good part of why Germany lost was the British blockade, which also caused about 750,000 civilians to die (directly or indirectly) by starvation.
In World War Two, again about 750,000 civilians were killed, this time by the combined results of the air campaign and (you guessed it) economic warfare leading to starvation.
Are you against killing enemy civilians by starvation?
What Israel has done to Gaza has never been war. It has always been genocide/ethnic cleansing. The Israeli government was warned by Egypt, the CIA and even their own female soldiers on the border that a major Hamas attack was imminent. They ignored the warnings. Why was the Gaza border unguarded on Oct 7? Because most of the soldiers had been moved to the West Bank to help the settlers steal Palestinian land. Why did it take the IDF 6 hours to return to the border? The response was slow walked to give Hamas time to do major damage to justify the extermination of the Palestinians. Shame on you for supporting Israel which is an evil monstrosity. Shame on America for enabling this Satanically evil crime.
Would the kids at Columbia push 'Free' speech if Ann Coulter showed up on campus next week? I get Matt's point but the kid incited rebellion with demands that led to a take over of a building on campus. Reagan's talk with the faculty at Berkley back in the day is must see.
It is a fair question whether speech advocating violation of rights should be tolerated. Eric Weinstein says no, or rather "I am afraid liberal values can't defeat this threat". If the Far Left tries to win by violating rights, which they call using "strong measures", and we think we are too moral for anything beyond the usual "weak measures", who has the edge? Difficult times create difficult questions.
Using "genocide" to mean killing (or trying to kill) *lots of* a certain group is rather than *all* is a classic case of the fallacy (formerly) known as Shifting Meaning. People looking for a way to justify condemnation routinely try to stretch the meaning of "negative" words by using them in new meanings that, by themselves, would have no negativity. For example, we have recently seen White Supremacy, which used to mean "belief that Whites should have a group right superior status", re-defined as "Whites have average superior status". But the Far Lefties use White Supremacy as if it still has its old meaning, in order to graft the negative associations of White Supremacy.
David, seems to be splitting hairs over the term for killing, wounding and starving over 200,000 civilians in a small area in a single year. What would you call it? A mostly peaceful ethnic cleansing? I condemn Hamas and their 7Oct terrorist attack that killed almost 1,200 Israelis and I condemn Israel’s killing of 50,000 civilians and 113,000 wounded. And the numbers are accurate.
The logic here says killing every single Palestinian man, women and child is defensible since Israel was attacked on 7Oct. Anyone who argues that that is unreasonable is cast as antisemite.
As killing "lots" approaches killing "all", the situation does of course approach genocide. But we are not even close to that: only 2.5% of Gazans have been killed. For the Jews of Europe, that would have been a holiday parade.
You may recall that a few years ago I said that enemy civilians under enemy control are legitimate targets: the enemy government will commandeer its civilians into the war effort. That could be anything from making grenades to raising crops. But a better enemy war effort means higher friendly losses. More German soldiers on the front line (say, from being taken out of the AA batteries) would have meant more American soldiers getting killed. Do you think the Americans should have ended the bombing campaign that kept so may German soldiers with the AA batteries?
Unreal possibilities, like the population of Gaza being reduced by 97.5 percent before they give up, are not of interest to me.
You made the point when you wrote as if 2.5% is the same as 97.5%. So much for "genocide".
Would 0.1% Gazans (I have never said "Palestinians") be too many? How about 0.001%? Was 750,000 Germans too many? How about 750,001?Enemy civilians under enemy control are legitimate targets. Period.
"People judge you by the words you use." Is your vocabulary so weak you can't find a cleaner word to express yourself? Did you bother paying attention in school?
Give it another rip....and pay attention this time, or take your filthy comments elsewhere.
I'd agree. I usually think that using a curse word is lazy and shows low intelligence, but I think sometimes it's apropos and in this case, I laughed because it was perfect - H. Clinton stands alone in her complete evilness.

I agree. He's about my age and I am 81.
He looks like he's about to blow a head gasket.....
Same RFK Jr who also sold out on his environmentalism.
Uh no lol
Leave that to others - RFK is fighting the injection of pollutants into us and children
"The goal of socialism is communism." -- Vladimir Lenin.
"hysterics " and "weak-kneed sisters"
That's a curious take on defending free speech, good thing you aren't the arbiter of what speech is allowable. Just don't forget that.
Mr Khalil is an obvious spook, having spent his entire adult life in UK-connected NGOs dedicated to "education & soft power." This is a great way for MI6 to reassign him while also building his cred!
Bam!
I'm optimistic,
Check out JDs speech on Tues. at the American Dynamism Summit.
HEY EVERYBODY
Go to Sasha’s Tip Jar.
Courage and integrity like hers needs to be recognized. $$$
I was born in 1943. It appears as though my demise will be in the middle of the next one.
I'm not a Bible thumper, but I do believe. Repent please. It's not the easiest thing. But it is essential.
Be good, do good. Treat people the way you want to be treated, please 🙏
In sports you point at the scoreboard and say "scoreboard". There are no words for the hubris.
Just once, I'd like someone in the audience of AOC's or Bernie's rallies to yell out "how did you make your millions?"
No need. all that dirty laundrey will be aired if they run. their democratic competitors will gleefully ask that question and play the looniest quotes on a loop.
IMO, it's much worse for them to have someone (real or psy op) yell "bring back the guillotine" and that getting amplified on spcial media because it shows the craziness of their movement.
My thoughts exactly!!
Fair.
"to stop them as a movement because they threatened Hillary Clinton’s win. Like every Democrat now, I was afraid of democracy."
Really? I think you just wanted to elect a cunt.
To hell with matriarchy and anything connected to it.
Agree. The issue is Khalil providing material support for Hamas and inciting violence.
Hey Richard, I respect your view but disagree with it in that we are being very selective about who we censor while at the same time ignoring all sorts of other protesters that hold the opposite view. Essentially we censor one side of the argument, or did I miss the anti Palestinian censorship executive order?
The anti- Palestinian side isn't rioting and committing crimes.

The issue in question is about America, not Gaza.
The issue is America’s support and enabling of genocide in Gaza which is evil.

David, you made the point when you wrote
“only 2.5% of Gazans have been killed.“ and essentially that no number of dead Palestinians would be too many.
