I would add free speech and censorship to the list of topics Trump needs to hit. He needs to make it clear he will. shutdown the Federal governments role in censoring speech on social media. He needs to attack Harris for her censorship narratives on hate speech and misinformation. Ideally he will criticize the UK, EU, France, Germany and Brazil for their recent censorship initiatives. He can show significant international leadership with this topic.

Censorship/ free speech can’t be tied to Harris easily on a debate stage. So no, steer clear of this tonight. We all know Trump supports 1A, he doesn’t need to get in pissing match tonight on this subject. Talk about the economy, a LOT. Also, the border, SOME. Also a question about who is running the country right now and how long was Harris aware of Joe’s decline. The flip flop on gender affirming care…

There are videos of Kamala talking the con of hate speech. He can quote her. The Biden/Harris administration built the CIC. Easily tied to her and her party. The goal is to move swing voters to Trumps side. This is a potent issue.

The issue is those swing voters might be moved in the wrong direction. I'm not suggesting the 1A issue isn't of primal importance. It is. I'm just stating it's hard to spin it on the debate stage, when Kamala can 'deflect' that she isn't the one behind it. And then to tie her to it, you have to attack the entire system and that can turn off certain voters. This forum isn't the place for it. In fact, Kamala could easily retort that isn't Trump now allowed back on Facebook and X?

As Vivek says the strongest attack is not at Kamala who is nothing but a cog, the attack should be at the machine. There are lots of examples of censorship during Covid that had nothing to do with hate. These are widely known and easily stated. A prime swing voter target are the 20th century Democrats like RFKJ. Censorship is the second of three issues that RFKJ said motivated his move to Trump. Dems who think like Bobby are potetial swing voters.

Last I knew, 80% percent of voters were against "hate speech". While still deluding themselves that they are in favor of free speech ... It is just not an easy issue to win on. The argument has to turn into something like "Who gets to decide?", followed by "And why wouldn't whover gets to decide just censor anything they don't like?" If Harris goes there, I think Trump has to follow. But it is probably not in his interest to go there himself.

If my career of interfacing with terribly bright people of whom I did my best to persuade to align with my philosophy of management, who challenged me endlessly, taught me anything, it is the person asking questions is the one who controls the discussion and the path it leads. A critical component to asking the right questions is knowing when to stop talking and use silence to your advantage.

Trump should ask the questions the moderators most likely will not, and pause, then tell Harris she can answer them when it's her turn to speak.

A strong way to close his 2 minutes of speaking time: "Why did you stop construction of the wall with Joe Biden, then use pictures of the wall I built to change your position on immigration?"

SILENCE SILENCE SILENCE!!!!! (Next person who talks loses)

I made the same comment to my husband yesterday, although not as succinctly as you. But Trump should absolutely ask her the questions that the media will not ask. And I noticed in his debate with Biden that he is excellent at ignoring the stupid media questions and saying what HE wants to say. Don’t you know that drives them crazy!

Well said. I learned from the children and my husband, the same lesson. 😎

From horses I learned that you ask them a question and then wait for an answer.

If they don’t answer you ask more firmly and give them time to answer.

Questions demand something from the other person. It makes them ‘move their feet’ and with horses, whoever has to move their feet, is not in charge.

So don’t react to the other person—that’s moving your feet. You lose.

A reminder for ALL of us to get down on our knees in prayer tonight. God alone, can keep Trump on the rails. Pray that if he starts to stray, Trump is touched by the hand of God to re-direct him. Trump is a complicated man and as all humans, he can lash out when challenged. May God grant him patience and a silent tongue when needed.

I’m praying he says all the right things in the right way, and doesn’t say things that shouldn’t be said. Stick to the facts and the issues. Calmly keep asking for her to state an actual position and give an answer that makes sense. Call her out if she flip-flops and contradicts herself, but don’t say anything derogatory or attack her personally. Seriously, I can’t fathom how she ever made it through a case in court.

If she has any native common sense, why did it take so long for her to show it? (I remember, at age 12, listening to Lennon's Imagine and thinking "That's stupid".) The Cackler's "common sense" is obviously based on looking at the polls, also known as "craven vote grabbing". Are you for or against "craven vote grabbing? Wait, wait, don't tell me ... "It depends on who's doing it". Also known as "the end justifies the means".

If working-class Whites loving Trump proves a "cult", then why would working-class Whites loving FDR not also prove a cult? In any event, it is certainly rich for any Demo to complain about a "cult": the Far Left ideology that has taken over the Demo Party, or at least its leadership, is a classic case of a "cult".

Expand full comment
David White's avatar

As for how I define "cult", my answer is: "any group adhering to (non-traditional) beliefs that are not falsifiable. Unfortunately, the beliefs of the Far Left are now, due to indoctrination in pre-schools, etc., in the process of becoming traditional ... We better stop this in a hurry, or the "faith" in question will indeed become traditional.

Huh? She has been VP for almost four years, but has very little work product. What kind of experience has she gleaned? Either she is considered part of Biden’s record or she should have tons of independent progress to present at this time. The economy is in the tank, our cities and towns are swelling with undocumented immigrants, we are involved in a proxy war and Iran is getting bolder by the moment to escalate tensions in the ME. If she’s been busy helping create all of that then she must own the failure along with Biden. If she has been otherwise occupied, she has some explaining to do. Most of the country just wants to know what she’s been doing all of that time. She has no independent record of her progress that includes factual supporting evidence any where online.

Not significantly, no. I had it right the first time, and I am still right. My party switch was not motivated by any change of views: the Demos went too far left for me. I am like a Labour voter who voted for Thatcher because Labour had gone too far left. I am one of those "weirdos" who voted Obama-Obama-Trump-Trump. And I have no regrets. I never would have voted for the Repos if 1) Trump had not moved the Repos away from the usual Mitch&Mitt Trickle Down, and 2) the Demos had not become both the party of the rich and the party of division. Practically speaking, I have one standard: I vote for whichever Party is trying to help working-class Whites. That is because trying to help non-Whites usually takes the form of Reverse Discrimination, which I have never supported.

By the way, my use of the term "Repo" comes from the days when I regarded the Republicans as like Repo men: devoted to upward re-distribution of wealth. And I regard our current distribution of wealth as a grave threat to democracy.

In the case of the Cackler-in-Chief, she has yet to cite any *evidence* (not counting polls) that would explain a change of views. If her handlers are smart, she will produce a suitable lie tonight. For example, she could say she was sooo stupid as to think that Defund the Police was a good idea. But maybe that would not help ...

How about their war on meritocracy which is being replaced with Equity aka race based Equal Outcomes? On his very first day in office in Jan 2021 Biden issued an Executive Order for all government agencies to be committed to “Equity” and we’ve now reached the point where even our medical schools are being dumbed down to achieve this.

“Editor’s Note: America is at war. This is not a traditional war, fought on a battlefield against an external enemy. It is a civilizational conflict against an internal enemy: the group quota regime, a revolutionary threat that seeks to reorganize American society around the principle of outcome equality — what the regime’s partisans call “equity.”

“This cold civil war may go unnoticed by many day-to-day, but its stakes are often as high as life and death. Here, Roger B. Cohen, a celebrated oncologist and professor in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, explains how the group quota regime has taken hold of the American medical education system and asks urgent questions about the consequences for medicine, for the sick, and for the country.”

If given the opportunity, Trump might ask Harris why she failed to even respond to the Gold Star families' invitation to take part in the memorial for the Abbey Gate 13. Respectfully declining is one thing, but disrespectfully ignoring the invitation is another. If she didn't want to share the event with Trump, she is a coward and he should call her out for it.

ALL of Kamala’s “policies” are designed to increase dependency on the government. Trump should ask Kamala why she wants to increase American dependency on the government when

18th century historian Alexander Tytler studied many centuries of various democracies, and he consistently saw that dependency is the last stage of a democracy before Tyranny. It makes sense because once people are dependent on the government, they are well…dependent on the government for everything. This aligns with what Alexis de Tocqueville said, “The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.”

He could even stump her by asking why Plato said that all democracies end up in tyrannical governments (essentially because dumb people vote).

Trump should remind the people that our closest ally, the UK Parliament, voted unanimously to hold President Biden in contempt for "dishonour" over his betrayal of the Coalition Forces and the Afghan people. Then he should ask Harris if she really wants to continue to tie herself to that disgrace.

Watch out for Humpty Dumpty! There is a possible scenario where Kamala flails like Brandon and it’s game over. She would have to make a huge break with her current character and behavior to inspire confidence or demonstrate competence.

She has no history of rhetorical skills, as in zero oratory gifts. Just Gotchas! And she has not been adequately prepped by answering any challengung questions from say a live reporter. This is a recipe for disaster. She has difficulty in articulating regular thoughts, much less winning people over with a compelling vision.

She may try to provoke Trump but the one mic rule will prevent interruption. I think that policy is brilliant in that it also saves Trump from himself.

Also she is still defining herself. Anything Trump says to her can stick as she is an empty vessel.
