Never gave a mediocre performance. From Looking for Mr. Goodbar to outright comedies, she was always center stage. She took her kid into the YMCA, heading to the gym for basketball. I said hi, and she stopped and talked to me with that gorgeous, winning smile and seemed willing to continue talking to me, a stranger, even though her son was eager to get to the court. What a generous spirit she was.
That was such a scary movie. So well acted and the writing was awesome. One did make an effort to know who one was dating before that first date after this movie!
In 2016, I saw her on Amtrak from LA (we were headed to Chicago). She was smaller than I'd assumed, chatting with passengers, standing in the aisle. I heard she didn't fly.
Her passing hit me hard this afternoon. But what a beautiful tribute you’ve written.
I’ve been off Woody Allen films for a while now, but I need to binge “Annie Hall” and “Manhattan” (along with “Reds” and “Baby Boom”). God, I’ll miss her.
Sasha, thank you so much for your beautiful tribute to Diane Keaton.
I think she was one of ‘those’ famous people that everyone loved.
I saw her once in Marina del Rey in the library parking lot. She was on her bicycle waiting to cross the street. She was dressed just like Annie Hall. I thought, oh she’s riding her bike and dressed just like Annie Hall! She will missed. She brought her light to the screen and we all got to love her.
I am usually emotionally immune to the passing of actors and actresses but this one stings. Annie Hall is also one of my all time favorite movies- one I have seen well over a dozen times in my life.
Diane Keaton was a wonderful roll model for so many women! I remember as a young woman how she was so natural and beautiful and always at ease with herself. Diane I will miss you as so many others will.
In the pictures of her older, it doesn’t look like any lifts, Botox or other shenanigans, she still looks beautiful.
According to Wikipedia (for whatever that’s worth), she publicly rejected the idea of plastic surgery.
Some people just Age well.
Many people would if they just let nature take its course. Demi Moore, Meg Ryan, several non-celebrity people I’m familiar with.
She didn’t believe in plastic surgery. She was a true original.
So beautiful and so real. May her memory be a blessing.

All I know is, I was one of those girls of a certain age after watching “ Looking for Mr. Goodbar— was put off dating for a long time😬😱

And The First Wives Club.
I’m embarrassed to say I never saw that in its entirety! I’ll add it to my list.
Don't be embarrassed. I'm sure there are many I never watched.
❤️❤️❤️Such an icon! I remember her in Sleeper…so funny and so beautiful. And in so many movies where she played such interesting women. RIP Diane!
Diane Keaton radiated joy, innocence, goodness, and love of life. Sorry to see her go.

That was sooooo very long ago, I don't even recall her being in those two movies!!

She was so good in Baby Boom! I really loved First Wives Club as well
She always made you want to be like her in some way or another!!
Yes so true. Someone once told me I reminded them of her…tho it was only because I was sporting the Annie Hall fashion trend that movie had inspired!
