I just came from the supermarket it seemed everyone in the aisles and at the registers was talking about it - old, young, black, white, Asian. The lottery lady was dabbing tears from her eyes. People seemed genuinely shocked and saddened. That's something of a tribute. It's almost as if people were saying 'what do we do now that Dolly is gone?' Some people are irreplaceable.
She belonged to all of us, and right back, we belonged to her. My 15 year old granddaughter is crushed. My 94 year old neighbor is crushed. There will never be another Dolly.
I remember seeing Dolly on the Porter Wagoner show years ago. They were fun to watch. She wrote the song 'I Will always Love You' when their act broke up. And I remember her joke about being well-endowed : "I have little feet because nothing grows in the shade."
There are many millions of people with an ache in their heart today. I’m one of them. Dolly was beloved by everyone who knew of her. Love you Dolly. I miss you already. ❤️🙏
My wife and I met her on the Dingle Peninsula in Ireland in 1990. We were loading up our rental car with cameras and bags when a limo rolled up behind us. I knew this was someone famous - we hadn't seen any limos since we started our vacation there. She popped out of the car with her small entourage. I was struck at how short she was. My wife went over to her and said, "I know you're Dolly Parton." She smiled and nodded. Then my wife asked her to take a photo with us. As I stood next to her, I thanked her for doing the photo. "Hey, I'm a tourist here, too," she said. She couldn't have been nicer. She said she was in Ireland to do her Christmas special and said something about her Irish roots. Days later, the Irish newspapers reported she was in Ireland, with cheeky headlines such as, "Dolly's big here, too." We used the photo for our Christmas card that year -- Have a holly, Dolly Christmas. I'm truly sorry she left us. Sasha did a wonderful tribute for her.

There are times when you learn of someone’s passing though not an friend or family member it will bring a tear to your eye, this is one of those days

She was so much more than an entertainer. Her kind deeds and sparkling optimism lifted us all and we are better for having shared the world with her.
