Bob Woodward was my hero in the Watergate era, but then I learned this from an unlikely source that I may have been "had".

In a recent appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, actor Bill Murray criticized Bob Woodward's 1984 biography Wired: The Short Life and Fast Times of John Belushi, describing it as "completely inaccurate" and "cruel." Murray, a close friend of Belushi, expressed his disapproval after reading just five pages of the book, stating, "I went, 'Oh my God. They framed Nixon.'" He questioned the integrity of Woodward's reporting, suggesting that if Woodward could misrepresent his friend, it cast doubt on his other journalistic work, including his coverage of the Watergate scandal .

Republicans could've done the same with Obama's Benghazi and/or Biden's Afghanistan but they just don't have manpower and the clout in D.C. - it's a Democrat town - nor do they have the cut-throat, bare knuckled, underhanded, "by any means necessary", "the ends justifies the means", "laws, ethics, morals don't matter", dark-heartedness that the Dems have.

Make him stand trial for treason, just to make him go to the trouble to defend himself. The opposition thinks they can set an example that they can do what they want. Those that weren't living in an ill-liberal smog knew Joe Biden was never capable from day one but something stinks about the Hur recording. Was Biden attempting to play up the "hapless and confused old man" card? He was after all, being investigated for stealing/possessing classified documents he had zero authority to have from his Senate days. The irony of it, of course, was the spectacle of Biden/Merrick Garland sending the FBI swat team to raid Mar A Lago to "retrieve" Trump's "stolen" documents. How much money was spent on that orchestration and the Jack Smith lawfare effort that ended with nothing?

The concept of the [historical] original sin is an interesting one. You are very close to the exact source, Stone, but one step removed. Becoming "the resistance" is an excllent choice but, I would argue, that the precedessor to that was Hillary Clinton's refusal to admit that she lost the 2016 election.

Simply put, she was a terrible candidate, with unpopular positions, cocksure of her pending Presidency who was basically out-hustled by then Mr. Trump.

THIS is the casus belli from which all else has flowed since 2016. While the comparison with HItler in all things Trump is tiresome and historically absurd, in the case of Madame Clinton's refusal to acknowledge the truth back in November 2016, a parallel exists. Like the German right and the German army after 11/11/1918, the "big lie" that was put out -- and in several ways used by the NSDAP to ride into power later on -- was the "stab in the back" myth. The Germans reasoned that they did not lose the war, they were defeated by nefarious elements, principally International Jewry and its minions.

Similarly, HIllary believed that she did not lose the 2016 election. Interestingly, it took several days for this explanation to be created. A read of the NYT, WaPo and other mainstream rags in the day or two after the 2016 election there was no mention of Russia, Russia, Russia, Trump cheating, or any other excuse for the loss. It took a while for Clinton and the DNC to create a myth to explain away the unimaginable. La Résistance, like many other things, was an outgrowth of that.

The Media's mission is to create and enforce narratives. Trump creates his own narratives. They were utterly shocked when Hillary lost because they didn't expect it. But Hillary already had the Russia hoax in play, since she had the infamous Steele Dossier created as part of her campaign. The Media is in power, and they were panicked about losing power, so they ran with the narrative that was already available from Hillary's campaign. Comey probably felt guilty about sinking Hillary's campaign, so he attoned for it by going after Trump.
