Thank you for notifying us! I’ve reached a point where I always investigate those oddly named charges, because they’re never scams (so far), and once I figure it out I can have peace with those names. But more importantly, I would NEVER want to cancel your subscription. I look forward to your content, and even your Tucker content (though I listen to him on both sites) because it lets me know what you think is important. I’m so sorry you have been troubled by this confusing system.

I hope you continue to have fun because, as a reader, I always have fun reading your take. I am a paying subscriber and I have decided to spread my subscription money every two years. I can't subscribe to everyone. So I pick 4 people and will rotate every two years. Yours was one of my first choices.

So sorry to hear about this regarding stripe. That blanket policy is so unfair. I have to wonder if you are targeted because your voice dissents from the offical narrative. I only raise this possiblity because Dr. Robert Malone was similaraly targeted by Stripe just last month, with them demanding accesss to all of his bank records, including current and past histories of transacations. He sued and Stripe backed down. I do not know of any "official-narrative-embracing" accounts having these clearly unethical demands placed on them. Just makes me wonder who's calling the shots st Stripe and why Substack doesn't allow other options for payment processors.

In any case, your words are priceless. Your voice and ability to see the truth give me hope. Thank you for all of your outstanding contributions to this battle for preserving the truth.

Your Substack is one of my favorite columns to read! You give me hope that sanity is possible for the deluded (some of whom are family members). I appreciate the links to Tucker’s interviews and watch many of them as well. Thank you for what you are doing - speaking truth in a world full of lies! God Bless You!❤️

In tech circles we have an acronym - RTFM. Means "read the fine manual" though "fine" is often replaced with a more colloquial adjective. Most of life's endeavors come with discoverable instructions.

My Mother had a saying that "There are some people who you just can't help" which seems apropos here since you've posted these same instructions before.

Maybe you can feed Stripe into the maw of the Biden Junk Fees jihad. Because expecting competence from the public is a pretty sketchy bet. Sorry for your inconvenience.

Also, ID-10-T error, I am a lawyer, not a techie, but I love that. I plan to remember RTFM. Excellent advice for most ID-10-T errors!

Best explanation I've heard about how substack charges. Much appreciated!

On my credit card, it always shows up as "Sasha Stone" so there is never any question as to what it is. I have investigated a number of odd sounding charges from other places that have turned out to be about 95% legit. It is possible to get more information without dropping the chargeback bomb and people should do that.

I wish mine did! Mine says LOCALVALLEY VILLAGECA. First time I saw it I thought it was fraudulent myself though didn't report it in part because I subscribed to another substack at the same time as Sasha's and her description came up clear. It's what jogged my memory that it was Sasha. So my guess is more than not people are getting weird descriptions on their CC statements.

Third party billers can be a problem. I have some vendors laundering payments through PayPal where I do not have an account which always draws my attention but have, to date, always been legit.

Sasha I will say that my CC company does not identify you correctly and the first time I saw my charge on my CC I almost reported it as well. My charge description is LOCALVALLEY VILLAGECA. Thankfully I signed up for yours and another writers at the same time and it jogged my memory that this must be for yours. That and that it did say CA in description and I know you live here in CA. So I'd like to think that others might be experiencing the same as me unfortunately.

Good thing I read this as I do have a different peculiar charge from givesendgo. I will need to suspend my support for this month while I investigate.

I appreciate your work. I’m a local truck driver who loves his job. It’s something new everyday. It’s easy to do a job when you love what you do. Is this your side gig? Ok. Even though I wouldn’t want you to stop, if you stop loving what you do, I’ll never hold it against you. I won’t like it😒 but I won’t blame you😉 YOU ARE NEEDED. I know this from the thousands of comments left in the wake of your work. You are getting some to consider thinking outside their box/bubble. May you never stop loving what you do✌🏽

sorry this subscription stuff is so messy. geeze. I can't pay for any subscriptions anyway, so I can only get the open stuff. i think many people are "loaded" (with money), and they just spend spend spend without much analysis to begin with, and you should not have to pay for that frivolousness.

Just happened to me, too, and now my Stripe account is frozen. Substack needs to find a more competent banking partner.

HI Sasha, Awhile ago my credit card included the renewal fee for your Substack. The description on my charge statement was lacking info. It did not indicate that the charge was your Sasha Stone renewal fee. I submitted a chargeback request. About 6 weeks later my credit card company told me that it was your renewal fee, so I immediately approved it. You might want to look into the descriptions on the charge card/debit card statements. Make sure people know the charge is you.

Thank you for letting me know. I don't think Substack is ever going to fix that problem but you're right. People who do not recognize the charge will think it's fraudulent.
