As you may or may not know, I’ve been offering my content for free for the most part. I do put some things behind the paywall - my travel adventures, for instance - and I plan to do more content for paid subscribers, such as a Fourth Turning Report.
For the most part, for five years, I’ve offered my writing for free. It has become my sole source of income now after the film industry banished me from utopia for voting for Trump last year. So thank you for helping to keep the lights on.
Either way, the new feature is called “in-app paid subscriptions” offered through Apple. I’m not sure how exactly it works, but you may come across it. However, I think a subscription through Substack directly is probably better if you're considering becoming a paid subscriber.
Either way, the in-app purchase option through Apple has its disadvantages. I think Apple takes a 30% cut. However, it may also help raise revenue more easily than the Substack model. I guess we’ll see how it works out.
Also, if you have sent a donation via Venmo, PayPal, or another method and would like to access the paid content (once I start posting it, that is), please let me know so I can mark you down.
The link for those alternative methods is here:
To my paid subscribers, thank you very much. I can’t really keep this going without you. I know times are tough, and there are so many things that cost money, especially subscriptions.
And apologies for yet another email on the subject!
Keep up the good work! You and Racket News (Matt Taibbi) are by far my favorites!
I keep sharing your content to my followers and friends in hopes they will discover you, and like me support your work.
