One group celebrated something positive, with enormous enthusiasm, not a hint of violence, and leaving no trail of devastation in their wake.

Contrast this to the riot squads, packed with paid agitators, crisis actors. and just the general dregs of the population. Considering how many were strutting around in Keffiyehs, you have to wonder if they even knew what "cause" they were rioting over. And what will be the cleanup and restoration costs of all damage left behind when the smoke clears?

So much for the hollow incantation, "No one is above the law".

Abigail Starke's avatar

And how can they say they were peaceful?!

Matt L.'s avatar

Most were peaceful, a minority were not. All of it I don’t agree with one iota.

NWCitizen's avatar

A riot was declared outside the ICE building in Portland resulting in 3 arrests. The ICE building has been the site of persistent protests in Portland since Trump took office, but they have escalated over the past week, spurred by Trump’s decision to deploy thousands of National Guard officers and hundreds of U.S. Marines to Los Angeles in response to protests there.

More than 10,000 people marched peacefully at the McCall Waterfront Park in Portland as part of the nationwide “No Kings” protest.

Matt L.'s avatar

I’ve lived here for many decades, NW Citizen. I was born in Washington State. By your name, perhaps you have lived here a long time, too. I’ve seen all the protests up close in person and in local news. BLM protests and riots were especially bad. Downtown Portland just now making recovery, which through my business, we are doing our small part to help. Just 2 years ago I went to outdoor concert downtown (The Roots) in pioneer square and looking up, the downtown buildings were still covered in graffiti and plywood boarded up. Never like that before in my lifetime. That part cleaned up now, but I’m unsure this city will ever be like it when I moved here in the 90’s, and first visited in 80’s. This used to be a ‘Live free or Die’ type state, a huge independent, counterculture streak. Those were the days of Kurt Cobain, Drugstore Cowboy and Elliot Smith. Now it’s a bunch of sheeple. Nihilism is a bit pervasive here among the protest industrial complex set, which saddens me. Likely when I retire, I’m outta here. In meantime, I try to help.

Linda Z's avatar

You are aware that much of the worst damage was done by white men, right? We used to call them 'agitators', sent to discredit legitimate protests. The cop was murdered by a young white man who was an active duty Air Force member. He also helped start the fire in the police station. He was a plant, if ever I saw one. As was 'umbrella man'. Google it.

Matt L.'s avatar

What does the race have to do with it, Linda Z? Nihilism is nihilism regardless of race. Of course the PNW is very (very) white.

Scott's avatar

Linda,

White progressive liberals are some of the worst offenders in rioting...

Scott's avatar

Correction: "Spurred by Trump's decision to deploy thousands of National Guard officers and hundreds of U.S. Marines to Los Angeles in response to RIOTS there.

Corrected.

They weren't just protesting.

Throwing Molotov cocktails at cars, throwing bricks through windshields, throwing rocks and bricks at police officers...is not a peaceful protest.

It's a riot.

Abigail Starke's avatar

I know. They weren’t. Saw it.

publius_x's avatar

Unless 💯 % peaceful, it ain’t peaceful.

Sober Christian Gentleman's avatar

Matt L.'s avatar

I live in PNW. Here I saw peaceful protesters w/ kettiyahs (small sub section of larger group). Then later, and even smaller subset who were violent (and some of them were arrested). I’m now waiting to see how PDX DA handles those arrests.

Matt L.'s avatar

Oregon. PDX = Portland

Jen Todd's avatar

No Kings? We just had an election. Trump won squarely. So he’s no Royal - he’s the people’s choice. Meanwhile, the Democrats’ candidate was anointed without electoral process. After the lies about Biden’s poor health were exposed. And wait, wasn’t Biden also essentially anointed in SC after it looked like Bernie might win? It’s the Dems who circumvent democratic process. Again and again. The fact is they so hate to lose they attack the winner, and ICE. And they’ve lacked respect for the Army for over 50 years.

GabeReal's avatar

Correct. It is just more gaslighting from the Democrats/left. They accuse Trump of what they are in fact doing themselves (fascism).

Cat C.'s avatar

And what Biden, in fact did. He ignored 3 SCOTUS rulings and did the opposite of what they ruled was unconstitutional: On student loan debt 'forgiveness', on continuing the COVID rent/mortgage 'freeze' and on 'Remain in Mexico'.

BJH's avatar

And don't forget the Autopen.

Benchie's avatar

Antifa logic at its finest

KARYN TRUITT's avatar

And tell us all, what did Trump sign with his 'autopen'?

Cooper Raymond's avatar

I think he used it to move $35 million in Chinese and Ukrainian cash through 37 cut out LLC's in order to give his grand daughter a new set of Titleist irons and woods...and a new golf bag.

KARYN TRUITT's avatar

Must have been Biden. Trump isn't supportive of funds to China *or* Ukraine...

Jen Todd's avatar

No whores and crack?

Steenroid's avatar

The #1 ball on golf.

NWCitizen's avatar

Trump himself has acknowledged using the autopen for certain things; back in March he said he used it but “only for very unimportant papers.” He specifically cited responding to people’s letters.

But in another case, Trump curiously seemed to indicate that he hadn’t signed a major proclamation that bore his signature – the one used to deport migrants using the Alien Enemies Act. Trump: “I don’t know when it was signed, because I didn’t sign it. Other people handled it, but Marco Rubio has done a great job and he wanted them out and we go along with that.” Did Rubio use AutoPen?

Bill Darrow's avatar

It’s ok for a president w a brain to use the auto pen.

NWCitizen's avatar

Who signed the proclamation to deport migrants using the Alien Enemies Act?

Cooper Raymond's avatar

Perhaps they were actually celebrating what Pete Hegseth in the video was celebrating...the fact that we are all lucky King George acted like a 1770's style Barack Obama who ran into a rag tag bunch of we the people types who were able to overwhelm his feminine leadership that somehow always resulted in idle threats and surrendered "red lines."?

WE should give all these "celebrators" the benefit of the doubt for the time and energy they poured into Saturday's celebrations and think of them as being truly thankful for the freedoms they have; made possible only by the armies we've assembled on behalf the greatest nation on earth and the sacrifices of our ancestors who laid down their lives for our liberty.

Right? 🤪🤪🤪

I mean...sure as hell they didn't pour all this energy simply because they don't want their maids, landscape guys and roofers deported, right?

Narcissism is the only explanation for the left's bizarre behavior. They have been pampered, overvalued, and praised as "special" but they are in fact insecure, disorganized and emotionally stunted entitled buffoons. They lack empathy and engage in exploitive and manipulative behavior. Their worst nightmare is to be ignored, and that is the treatment Trump gave them.

Cooper Raymond's avatar

Actually their worst nightmare is what all self-aggrandizing narcisssists are fearful of.

IRRELEVANCE.

They lost their party by abandoning working men and women and then when authentic leaders like Sanders or Fetterman say they've abandoned working men and women....they get lambasted for being disloyal to "THE PARTY."

They have nothing to offer and have no moral authority left, favoring illegal immigrants, criminals and terrorists over the oppressed people having to endure living in today's modern large American cities...held hostage by Democrat Party Orthodoxy that permeates through their culture.

RSgva's avatar

Held hostage by donors

BBS's avatar

Yes, it is true these protesters had signs that made no sense --Trump doing away with Medicare and Trump not supporting veterans. And yes, it is true they had nothing to offer--no plan, no cause--it was only about hating Trump. BUT in my town of 14,000 people 540 showed up on the town square , in the rain, and that scares the hell out of me.

Morgan Leake's avatar

They were probably paid $200 each to be there.

Casey Jones's avatar

Doesn't matter. They vote.

Jen Todd's avatar

We clearly need an adequacy test to sort out the legitimate from the illegitimate. Voting is wasted on fools or whoever spends the most.

NWCitizen's avatar

The ones who spends the most are Musk and all of trump's toadies who attend $1M/plate dinners or $5/M for a private audience. Trump collects the most, grabbing money anyway he can - launching a meme coin that’s added billions of dollars in paper wealth to his net worth (after causing followers to lose thousands), selling bibles, Chinese watches, gold tennis shoes.... He wrote "The Art of the Grift"!

A contest of sorts has played out across Europe, the United States and the Middle East in recent days as President Trump’s two older sons have pursued a blitz of family moneymaking ventures capitalizing on their father’s name and power, each seemingly trying to outdo the other.

It is a rush to cash in that involves billions of dollars with few precedents in American history.

A luxury hotel in Dubai. A second high-end residential tower in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Two cryptocurrency ventures based in the United States. A new golf course and villa complex in Qatar. And a new private club in Washington. In many cases these new deals promoted over the last week will personally benefit not only Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., but also President Trump himself.

BBS's avatar

Could be. And if that's the case, can you imagine how much they will be paid to vote?

Linda Z's avatar

You’re thinking of ttump. We democrats don’t take payoffs

NWCitizen's avatar

And who would be paying them? Trump spent $45M on HIS parade to glorify himself. Never missing an opportunity for grift, he sent out an e-mail with the subject line saying "‘Please help me before MY military parade!’” Even he boasts that the parade is for HIM!

Jen Todd's avatar

This is why the dem party is in the toilet with a 21% approval rating. "Hate Trump" is desperately played out and the dems have absolutely nothing else to offer. Zero. No plans, no proposals, no policies. Poopy diapers and tantrums are impressive for the 21% and not at all for everyone else who've had enough of the party who despises America and American citizens.

KARYN TRUITT's avatar

Um. *Actually* BIDEN and Co. planned and paid for the 250th Anniversary Parade for the Army.

Did you get a copy of that email? Because I signed up for emails, and I did NOT. Or did you just 'hear about it' from (OMG) Occupy Democrats?

Scott's avatar

Probably funded by US taxpayers, through USAID.

Brian DeLeon's avatar

Tom's avatar

Tom's avatar

The millitary parage was privately funded. So was the riots from the left wing extremists

NWCitizen's avatar

The US taxpayer is going to be on the hook for all the soldiers, tanks, and planes that appear in Donald Trump’s military parade. But several major tech companies are paying for the festivities along the parade route.

According to recent statements from America250, Oracle, Amazon, Coinbase, Lockheed Martin, and Palantir are some of the highest-profile sponsors of the America250 Foundation, the congressionally appointed nonprofit in charge of raising funds to celebrate the upcoming US Semiquincentennial although the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence will take place next year — July 4th, 2026.

234's avatar

He spent $45m of YOUR MONEY sweetheart.

Did you send him a Happy Birthday card yet?

KARYN TRUITT's avatar

You know that Biden et al planned the parade / celebration, right?? *AND* allocated the funding for it.

Trump was stumping for donors and funders so the TAXPAYERS wouldn't have to foot so much of the bill.

234's avatar

Did not know that....another unreported fact somehow missed by MSM

Morgan Leake's avatar

You’re one of the ostriches, I see, pretending the funding sources for these protests weren’t exposed last week.

Only people attending most of these rallies are boomers or paid shills.

Heyjude's avatar

Yes. But I think that 540 is all they have out of the 14,000. I think every single one of their supporters showed up. That’s who they are. They organize and show up. But they don’t have the numbers any more.

11 million showed up. The lefties and the media will swoon. We already knew that 20% of the population are for them no matter what. But it’s nowhere near enough to win an election.

We got this.

Linda Z's avatar

Because those 540 people are aware of the repercussions of trump’s edicts. The pattern is emerging; he is establishing an authoritarian state. Read project 2025. It spells out the intentions of the far right wing , snd trump is following the plan step by step. I prefer good old American Democracy

Heyjude's avatar

Those 540 people showed up because they had to. Otherwise they would lose their Facebook friends and their status as virtuous people. You guys are all afraid of what your fellow virtue signalers will do to you if you don’t show up when commanded.

Byron King's avatar

Lefties expected a martial celebration of Trump & Trumpism from the Army 250 parade. Instead, America received a thoughtful, colorful, kinetic lesson on... 250 years of U.S. Army history, complete with well-made, effective promos that will have field recruiters, ROTC units and West Point admission offices overflowing with applicants for the next couple of years. And while the Left also bitterly complained about the cost, they then bellyached that the event had financial sponsors to defer the hit to the Treasury.

If that isn't enough, another big knock on the Parade is that the Soldiers looked like... Soldiers. Oh sure, ceremonial units like the Field Band and Fife & Drum were crisp, as always. And the historical uniforms from Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam were pretty cool. But the bulk of troops were all dressed up in... (cue the crying!) normal, everyday ACU garb -- Army Combat Uniform; ie, basic field camo. Huh? And they didn't march with goose-steps and high kicks like those full-time parade phalanxes we see in Beijing and Pyongyang. Oh and no "women's battalions," either, dressed in short, skimpy skirts and knee-high leather boots like the other guys do it.

There's no winning with the Professional Left. They didn't want a parade cuz... Trump. While Army 250 is a meaningless event to them. And when they get the parade anyhow, it's not good enough cuz the Soldiers don't strut like those bemedaled peacocks in faraway lands ruled by permanent Communist governments.

KARYN TRUITT's avatar

And it's really funny because Biden et al *planned* it.

You can't win with dems/liberals/lefties. You can't give them what they want because THEY don't know what they want. Except 'free' everything...

Biden's Administration negotiated it.

Cooper Raymond's avatar

This parade was as much for the leaders of Iran, China and Russia as it was for Americans.

Last 25 years we've wasted trillions fighting wars 5000 miles away from home while China snuck around in our hemisphere signing rare earth mineral development deals with nations needing capital infusion.

Monroe Doctrine said project strength in your own hemisphere and your adversaries 5000 miles away will understand the risk to their own sovereignty, if they choose to export their terror or political ideology beyond Wilmington, Delaware.

NWCitizen's avatar

From what I have read, it was a sloppy display.

NWCitizen's avatar

It is repellent to give one to glorify Trump, a draft dodger who said of McCain who was tortured for 5 years in a Viet Cong prison, that he didn't like people "who were captured", that soldiers who died were "losers & suckers" then gave a speech earlier in the week at Fort Bragg, during which specially selected uniformed troops booed Trump's opponents, former president Joe Biden and California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), and cheered Trump’s partisan MAGA message. What if Trump assembles his own private force of these soldiers to attack his enemies? People will now see the military as partisan instead of committed to constitution and protecting the entire US. In fact, Trump has activated troops on US soil in CA.

Trump is even fundraising off of it (he never passes up a grifting opportunity). He sent an e-mail with the subject line saying "‘Please help me before MY military parade!’” Even he boasts that the parade is for HIM!

This year marks not just the 250th anniversary of the Army’s birth, but also the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War, which was the all-time nadir of the military’s reputation in the US.

It brings to mind other tyrants who used the military to glorify themselves like Hitler, Putin, Jong-Un...

Byron King's avatar

Did we watch the same event? I mean... that Army 250 Parade in Washington, DC? Not some AI-version as filtered through the political H8-machine...

I turned on the live feed at 1800 Eastern time and watched until 1945 or so... And I saw a whole bunch of Army Stuff (full disclosure; Navy guy here):

That is, marching bands, Fife & Drum, historical units, recruiting promos, "real" soldiers in normal gear advancing in formation, along w historical and current equipment, plus aircraft. It came across as a solid mix of Army history and Army now. All very respectful of the institution and built around celebrating the troops, past and present, with plenty of heartland Americana on display. Definitely not a glorious, spectacular, goose-stepping "parade" like they put on in Beijing or Pyongyang (yes, I've watched those as well, out of curiosity).

Meanwhile, and much to the mental anguish of the Left, DJ Trump won the election in November. As current commander in chief, he's entitled to preside over things like the ceremonial 250th anniversary of the founding of the Army on June 14th, 1775. And if that day of the year happens to be DJT's birthday? Well, I'm certain that his mother didn't plan that back in 1946 when he was born. It's just an accident of fate, although I'm inclined to believe that if Trump's birthday was some other day of the calendar, he still would have wanted a parade to honor the Army. Because those 250th anniversaries only come around every 250 years.

Meanwhile, from Trump's spot onstage he appeared calm and aware of his role and duties. He saluted on numerous occasions, returning salutes from passing formations. At the end, Trump performed an enlistment/re-enlistment ceremony for about 100 Soldiers... He read the proper, standard oath that every servicemember states. Nothing out of line, and likely it created lifetime memories for the individuals involved.

Per your comment, I missed the "glorify Trump" part of the event. In the time that I devoted to watching the Parade, all I saw was official Washington offer some basic respect to its Army at 250 years. There's no need to over-think it. And looking ahead, I suppose that you'll have many other opportunities to express your Trump-H8 in other matters.

Tom's avatar

Well written. I saw they same thing you did.

Cooper Raymond's avatar

I watched some of it also and must admit, seems like those Navy guys do a better job of marching in lockstep with each other. A few of those guys were 1/4 to 1/2 step off their fellow soldiers in the same row.

Is that what trumo wanted?

KARYN TRUITT's avatar

You *do* realize that BIDEN'S administration planned the parade, right? This didn't just "pop up" in 5 months... And Biden's administration allocated the funding too...

NWCitizen's avatar

Really? Trump started talking about it during first term.

Cooper Raymond's avatar

McCain deserved 100% of what he got from Trump.

McCain sent his own COS to London to meet with Chris Steele to procure a copy of the Steele Dossier, then hand delivered it to the FBI so they could take out Trump with a headshot he wouldn't see coming.

Ricocheted right back on him, Comey, Mueller, Strozk and Page and McCabe.

NWCitizen's avatar

What does that have to do with being tortured in a viet cong prison for years?

You'd think a war hero wouldn't debase himself working to undermine democracy.

NWCitizen's avatar

He was trying to save America from an ignorant buffoon.

Jen Todd's avatar

Was he? I get it that undermining democracy is fine for you. Losers will always be losers. McCain's bitter, tragic fail is what led him to desperately seek revenge on someone more competent and effective. The usual play from a hag that had nothing going for himself. TDS will always end in disappointment.

Well, we don't have Queen Hillary either. Thank God . . . and PRESIDENT Trump.

I could never vote for a second Bush or Clinton, or a different Trump for that matter.

The USA is not supposed to be run by family oligarchics.

Tim's avatar

The USA has already had two Bushes. No need for a third.

Lizzie's avatar

Family oligarchies occur because once a machine organizarion is created, it does not die if the leader leaves. It just chooses a new leader, and who better than someone associated with the name of a winner. And it is⁶ not even intrinsically evil if it is associated with a family tradition of service to the country. But organizations are power and power corrupts. And once you are convinced of your own good intentions, you will stop at nothing.

I find most Democrat functions end up a “tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing" to quote your article. It is important to remember that nearly half of the people in this country believed the Democrat BS line last November. It's a case of the evil blind leading the halt, lame, and also blind.

One question though, how much garbage did all those "No Kings" protesters leave. Democrats don't usually clean-up after a protest.

BradK (Afuera!)'s avatar

Remember that conservatives attempt to guide with logic and reason (and they sometimes succeed!) while the Left in general -- and even more so the Marxists -- only know emotional, reactionary thought and response. They are walking contradictions with incredibly short attention spans.

You are directly quoting the article, but you are ultimately quoting Shakespeare.

Trump is the one who is constantly grabbing money anyway he can - launching a meme coin that’s added billions of dollars in paper wealth to his net worth (after causing followers to lose thousands), selling bibles, Chinese watches, gold tennis shoes....

Better than the 10% scam of FJB.

Trump likely just trying to get some back as it is well documented that he is the only senior politician in the USA in the last 25 years that saw his net worth go down while in office.

The only one.

If you were a professional ball player you couldn’t even play for the Rockies, your success rate is so low.

NWCitizen's avatar

Were the others billionaires? What is your source that he lost money? Most of the others made money after they left office from book deals & speaking engagrments.

Pat Robinson's avatar

Public info, you can go find it yourself. Obama net wealth increased dramatically well before he left office in 2016.

Trump net worth has clearly decreased since 2016.

This is all public information, you can find your own links.

BUT, you have to WANT to find the info.

Putting your fingers in your ears and saying LALALALALALALA is not conducive to information gathering.

Harris’s campaign raised more than Trump’s, but Trump’s allied super PACs raised more than Harris’s. Musk, combined with entities he controls, disclosed about $277 million in donations to federal groups this cycle, all in support of electing Mr. Trump. The biggest share of that was to America PAC, the super PAC that Mr. Musk created in the spring of 2024 but did not start donating to until just after July 1, meaning that his involvement did not become public until the fall.

NWCitizen's avatar

Well, trump sure didn't have to run again.

Matthew J Florio's avatar

Forbes estimated that Trump exited office in 2020 about 600 million dollars poorer than when he entered.

If you can show how somebody is "grifting" by losing money, you'll revolutionize accounting.

NWCitizen's avatar

Well, he's making it all up from crypto and allowing Arabs to give him a 747 and buy influence. BTW, his son in law who jetted around the mid east while he was in office got $2B from the MSB.

If only the republicans in Congress and the DOJ would earnestly take out the funding apparatus like Act Blue, Christy Walton, Indivisible, Reid Hoffman, and drag them in front of a hearing, along with some good paid criminal rioters to add to the testimony sauce, maybe it will open some eyes to what is really going on here. Expose the funders, get on it!

The irony of what many media tools were referring to as a split screen of events yesterday is that they are not comparable. Apples to oranges. The No Kings protesters swatted at Trump piñatas, marching as a collective whine about fascists, oligarchy and kings. Meanwhile the military parade in DC celebrated the 250th anniversary of the US army. It was not a North Korea or China Tiananmen Square event. The army’s history marched and rolled down Constitution Ave with soldiers in uniforms from 1775 on up to today. WWII era tanks, jeeps and planes participated. It included todays drones and robotic canines. There were no long range missiles or nuclear warheads. It was a living history lesson of our Army, the very Army that has thousands of troops stationed in the Middle East that are currently on hyper vigilant alert due to Iranian and Israeli tensions. Let’s hope we don’t get pulled into conflict, but if we do it will be the Army with its special forces, the Marines, the Navy and the Air Force who will protect those millions of No Kings protesters. Hillary. Sorry I ever voted for her.

Brandy's avatar

I looked into those laughable numbers. Try 3 million for fact-based numbers. Still good, especially since all the old ladies need something to do. It's no more and no less than a marketing campaign to make people believe they are big and "everyone" is doing it. People are easily fooled by this marketing. They need a way to raise money, but I don't know how they will pull that off with people protesting because they are convinced Trump will take their social security checks. They don't have money to spend like that. They looked silly.

KARYN TRUITT's avatar

Hold on there!! A lot of us 'old ladies' were too busy watching the parade to worry about idiots stomping around pretending they are 'oppressed'!!

Brandy's avatar

Yeah, there's plenty of cool old ladies. I don't count them. 💖
