About Me

I spend way too much thinking about me. This is the blank space where that paragraph should be.

Quotes by Darwin

For the upcoming Darwin anniversary, Richard Dawkins has posted some great Darwin quotes and here they are:

1. “The mystery of the beginning of all things is insoluble by us; and I for one must be content to remain an Agnostic.” (Autobiography)

2. “It seems to me absurd to doubt that a man may be an ardent Theist & an evolutionist.” (Letter to John Fordyce, May 7 1879)

3. “I hardly see how religion & science can be kept as distinct as [Edward Pusey] desires‚Ķ But I most wholly agree‚Ķ that there is no reason why the disciples of either school should attack each other with bitterness.” (Letter to J. Brodie Innes, November 27 1878)

4. “In my most extreme fluctuations I have never been an atheist in the sense of denying the existence of a God.” (Letter to John Fordyce, May 7 1879)

5. “I think that generally (& more and more so as I grow older) but not always, that an agnostic would be the most correct description of my state of mind.” (Letter to John Fordyce, May 7 1879)

6. “I am sorry to have to inform you that I do not believe in the Bible as a divine revelation, & therefore not in Jesus Christ as the son of God.” (Letter to Frederick McDermott, November 24 1880)

7. [In conversation with the atheist Edward Aveling, 1881] “Why should you be so aggressive? Is anything gained by trying to force these new ideas upon the mass of mankind?” (Edward Aveling, The religious views of Charles Darwin, 1883)

8. “Would any one trust in the convictions of a monkey’s mind, if there are any convictions in such a mind?” (Letter to Graham William, July 3 1881)

9. “My theology is a simple muddle: I cannot look at the Universe as the result of blind chance, yet I can see no evidence of beneficent Design.” (Letter to Joseph Hooker, July 12 1870)

10. “I can never make up my mind how far an inward conviction that there must be some Creator or First Cause is really trustworthy evidence.” (Letter to Francis Abbot, September 6 1871)

Waaa. He Said Lipstick and Pig in a Sentence, Waaa.

The republicans are whiny little bitches aren’t they? And they have the biggest Big Oil bitch of them all in Drudge. Can you believe that Barack Obama has been trying to run a decent, honorable campaign and those morons on the right, appealing to the most reactionary, lowest common denominator, actually came up with this? Why doesn’t anyone call them on their crap? Instead they issue denials. This is how Clinton smacked them down: he laughed at them. Laugh at them. They deserve it.

The Whore’s Hustle

So early on, Obama/Biden, the best possible candidates to run this godforsaken country, were using Springteen’s fabulous song, The Rising:

And they were also using U2’s City of Blinding Lights, another lovely song:

They’re good, no doubt. The Rising echoes a return from the ashes of 9/11 – City of Blinding Lights is more of an “exuberance is beauty” type of song. But I’m thinking they need a swift kick to the balls song to really drive home the message that we’re a sinking ship and there ain’t nothing funny about that.

No, I’d give them PJ Harvey’s The Whore’s Hustle and the Hustler’s Whore – yeah that would go over well, lol:

Speak to me of universal laws
The whores hustle and the hustlers whore
All around me people bleed
Speak to me your song of greed

Speak to me of your inner charm
Of how you’ll keep me safe from harm
I don’t think so, I don’t see
Speak to me of your inner peace

Little people at the amusement park
City people in the dark
Speak to us, send us a sign
Tell us something to keep us trying

The whores hustle and the hustlers whore
Too many people out of love
The whores hustler and the hustlers whore
This city’s ripped right to the core

Speak to me of heroin and speed
Of genocide and suicide, of syphilis and greed
Speak to me the language of love
The language of violence, the language of the heart
This isn’t the first time I’ve asked for money or love
Heaven and earth don’t ever mean enough
Speak to me of heroin and speed
Just give me something I can believe

The whores hustle and the hustlers whore
Too many people out of love
The whores hustler and the hustlers whore
This city’s ripped right to the core
