It’s come to the point where the left is now starting to turn on Obama in such a way that it reminds me of the mother cat who kills off her young for the sake of the genetic line. What is the reason for this? The kittens are not going to thrive. Maybe that’s the reason. Maybe it’s some strange primal impulse animals respond to when they feel their lives are being threatened. This Paul Krugman piece in the New York Times pretty much finishes Obama off, portraying him as worse than a disappointing deity — God is often disappointing, especially when he isn’t pulling off miracles — but portraying as someone who bows too often to the hysteria of the right. What the lack of backbone seems to mean here is that he’s “afraid” to stand up to the assholes who continue to try to take him down. Bit by bit, piece by piece, they are ensuring, as they did quite successfully with President Carter, that Obama, our dear President, is seen as weak, ineffectual and a mistake.
Nice going, Karl Rove.
Did we really think the forces who got our country into the current mess it’s in, the top 1% of wealth that just keeps getting richer was going to sit by and watch anyone trying to change the status quo?
Yes, I don’t know what I’m talking about. Yes, I speak and write in generalizations and hyperbole. No, I really shouldn’t be writing about any of this because any reaction I’m having here is that of a mom and a former teaching aide: I hate bullies. I hate them. I hate the bullies who don’t trust the smart kids. I hate the bullies who fan the flames of irrational fear and hatred. Sarah Palin is a bully. Karl Rove is a bully. The Koch brothers might not be bullies but they are paying people to be bullies for them. It is all going according to plan.
I didn’t have high expectations when we elected Obama. Politics is politics, right? I’ve actually Obama’s administration do some good things since they’ve been in office – and I don’t think it’s his job to continue to fight a war with the hysterical, flame-throwing wingnuts. Maybe I’m wrong in my thinking. Surely, the NY Times’s Krugman believes I am. Unfortunately, getting himself re-elected will be a challenge considering all of the rats are jumping ship. So, good luck with that, liberals. Here comes another conservative asshole to make things much much worse.
